i tested it with fs2002, i changed the date and hour to about 8:30 on 9/11 and booted up in JFK, and 5 minutes later the game crashed

So what you're referring to is true- every subsequent edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator (Beginning with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, released October 2001) after 9/11 did have the World Trade Center removed out of respect for the victims of the attacks and for accuracy. The claim that players are being banned for setting their dates to 9/11/2001 in the simulator is false.

This is a simple misunderstanding. The 9/11 ban was only a problem for the version of msfs released in early 2000’s and was understandably done due to how relative the event was

Yeah when the game was being developed the developers had no intentions of making a feature that allows you to change the time and they only focused on making the future not the past

no you dont bc fs 2002 is a physical copy of a game on a physical disk so its not possible to be banned

there is no crash damage in the game. you just bounce off of it. i did this for educational purposes to test the burning of jet fuel on steel beams ofc
