Thanks Mike!
I have a 2018 500 and when I reinstalled the fuel lines onto the tank rear opening, I stripped 2 of those 4 self tappers with very little effort. I think it only requires 2Nm torque, which my bicycle torque wrench barely measures. Unlike the IMS tank, the Acerbis tank relies on the screw gripping the tank plastic. I repaired the problem by cutting thin strips of cable tie and gluing them in the hole with appropriate glue. Barely hand tight is enough.
How many times have I cussed the "engineers" who designed all the various sizes of bolts/nuts..... lol, the earliest was in a 1970 Pontiac Firebird where the starter went bad & all 3 of the electrical & mounting screws/bolts are different sizes. That's something that can drive ya mad but thanks for this. I don't own this brand but I now know to consider it in all applications. peace
These OEMs need to do better. For the price, there should be none of this screws-into-plastic crap. Threaded inserts exist, and work much better. But god forbid Husqy/KTM spend another 10¢ to produce a $14k bike. 🙄
