Should have won that Oscar. Penn was awesome, but Rourke was legendary in The Wrestler.
Mickey is a GREAT ACTOR! One of the best in our generation. From meeting him a few times, I can personally say, he's a great guy. As real as they come. No chip on his shoulder. So glad he's back!!!
I have know Mickey since 1985 because we had the same boxing trainer Bill Slayton. Once I moved to the Valley, I switched to Pat Goosen and we rarely saw each other. My best friend was Chris Penn and he always credited Mickey for getting him into the business of acting. Mickey is a humble, loyal, and trusted friend regardless of whether or not we see each other often. your friend, Don "the Dragon" Wilson
an incredible actor and forthcoming person with the realities of his life.
hey man, ive never met mickey rourke, but im an ex pro boxer from England. I was 18 when i had my first pro fight..i lost, and i started acting because it was the only thing i could do to help me release my anger. I trained with L.A coach Michelle Danner and now im back in England doing ok. It it wasent for mickey rourke i would have killed myself. His comeback made me want to suceed. Im now a 29 year old actor living in London and life is good, Thanks Mikey and respect to you mate.
Just watched Barfly the other night. Magnificent performances by Mick and Faye! Her line to him, "don't you just hate people." His retort, "no, but I seem to feel better when they're not around!"
Love micky Rourke. He’s living proof anyone can come back if your willing to work for it.
Let's not forget his role as Marv in Sin City. He was awesome.
I agree with you and anhacus. I really enjoyed the film. Mickey was the right person for the authentic and heartfelt story because as you say, he's genuine and as anhacus said, he looks like he has lived and suffered. His face is wrought and the subtle expressions he made in The Wrestler added a lot of poignancy and made me empathise with The Ram. I also like that Mickey is passionate about his dogs like me.
his acting in RANDY the WRESTLER was MAGNIFIC i ve watched 2 times
chris wild from London. Mickey thnaks for being so humble and honest. You saved my life, and you gave me the strength to carry on with my acting career, Im an ex pro myself ( 18) im now 29 enjoying life thanks to you. we love ya man. x
agreed. that was the performance of a lifetime. i was very upset about him not winning.
"I know who I am!"
С возрастом стал другим и ещё лучше, одолженный мужчина ❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭
yeah, mickey deserved the Oscar.
Man always underrated rourke. Sin city, that Michael cimino movie, the wrestler, he has some roles in iron man 2 & the expendables,
Mickey... the best
Do a Google Image search for "Mickey Rourke 9 1/2 weeks" and you'll see what he looked like during the 80s when he did that film. Looked a lot like Bruce Willis. Wasn't able to get bigger parts in the 90s, got depressed, took up boxing. Face got messed up, that's why he got the plastic surgery and looks a lot different now. Got into drugs, etc. and this is his first lead role in many many years. That's why so many see this as his "comeback."
cant wait for him to make more movies!

Amjad Abbas Well, he made.
Great movie!
How great movies get made. Interesting autobio details about Rourke's meeting with Aronofsky.
Mickey GOD bless you
I second the motion.
Mickie is a great actor and a man! He is a bit different but I still vike and love him!
It's nice to see such a deeply talented actor as Mickey Rourke come back to making good movies. His respect for Aronofsky is reverential , though the reference to "a pound of flesh" from the Merchant of Venice is highly inappropriate.
Rourke is one of my favourites as actors go, but I can't understand this stuff he keeps saying in interviews about being out of work for 15 years. He's been in at least 3 movies every single year since 1985, and while a number of those movies may not be high budget or huge paying they certainly entitled him to live more than comfortable, plus by his own admission he also had other jobs going while making 3 movies a year. So this shit about him being so broke and out of work that he couldn't afford to fix his front tooth is nobody's fault but his own for a fucking Hollywood spendthrift. He also complained that he could no longer afford to eat out in restaurants who usually accommodate the A -Lister types, well woe-be-him ain't tthat a tough life. His idea of being broke is totally skewed by being handed that lifestyle on a platter from an early age, it's all the same with a lot of other Hollywood types, after a few years anything short of a million dollars is broke to them, delusional and pretty pathetic to say the least.

You're right Mickey still made movies all these years. They were always low-grade straight to DVD. No A-List film wanted him. He was very humble in all his interviews after the Wrestler, but he has reverted to his old habits of bashing everyone, which is keeping off the A-List again.
When I hear Mickey talk, I feel a deep need to just shut up my brain and listen carefully.
awesome
the only thing Rourke should wrestle is his God Awful Plastic Surgeon, I mean wow that guy did quite the number on him......
Супер обалденно ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Какой красивый ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You're right.. he RETURNED to boxing.
i love micky hes bad ass
it ain't how many times one falls .... its how many times one gets back up .... put your balls up to the bar and keep on swingin' .... good flick Mick
Couldn't have said it better.
The guy holding the camera?.....hmm.....You never really know who's smarter.
Correct. He also didn't tow the liberal line of standard hollywood politics.
this is a quote from the movie ?
Even with this surgery’s he got this big angel that make us like him I don’t know about you guys but to me he’s got this cool 😎 looks going on ....
hes basically disowned his better movies..barfly, angel heart this freak mighta been cool if he had a sense of humor joe public-"hey mick wassup???"...mick-"you lookin at me??" "nope..not anymore..andre"
Yeah he's in Sin City 2...
@smoothcriminal28 Personally I think Barfly was his best performance, Ive seen that flick about 5 times and I laugh every time I see it. He is all around damn good though. I share the same birthday with him. Different year of course.
Where am I?
He looks like a French pirate with a liking for Sally Jessy type glasses.
@scottmanduzy How about this line, "don't you hate cops?" Mick, "no, but I seem to feel better whem they're not around!"
@tlv156 I concur. Mick deserved the oscar for the wrestler. it seems old Hollywood is not ready to embrace the Mick just yet. He has pissed on too many legs and the establishment has a long memory for vindictive policies. Given time he will be rewarded.

No his career is essentially over.
@Xenkenito that's pretty cool...I'd trade who I have the same b-day with to have one with Mickey rourke. Mine are ok though, Jennifer Aniston, Sheryl Crow, Burt Reynolds, Varg Vikerenes of black metal.
He did a great job in the Wrestler. I thought it would be a shitty movie, mostly about Wrestling, but it wasnt and it was a good story about a man who struggles in his life anr after an heart attack, because of which he has to rake it slow realizes that he made a lot if mistakes try to change, doesnt work and though risky, he take up wrestling again. Nice story !

He did not take up boxing. He was a professional boxer in the first place before he started acting. Look up his professional record.
Why he self destructed noone will ever know.
That's your story.
he RETURNED NOW?? IN 2009?? HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT??
wrong.. he was amateur boxer first, but when movie career started falling down, he turned pro
Mickey sounds like he’s has a cold.

Johnny depp got Mickeys look because they were really good freinds back in the 90’s. Mickey was way before johnny. Mickey stared this look before Johnny.
