Mick Schumacher's HUGE COMEBACK with Alpine Just Got LEAKED!

Спорт

■ Alpine’s struggles have continued in Imola as well, which prompted very aggressive responses from Gasly in terms of driver’s preferences-a deal that the team has reportedly not respected in Imola. But with them being way off from where they are supposed to fight with both of its cars, and with both of its drivers being out of contract at the end of 2025, it’s very likely that Alpine would be looking at a driver who would be a lot more motivated to prove himself in the sport for a second time-and receive a chance to drive after an unfair treatment back in 2022. With this in mind, could we see the return of a young German driver in the sport, and more importantly, is he the spark of motivation that the Enstone-based squad is missing?

No, he only gets another chance because he is a Schumacher. It would be a better world if people got into positions based on merit rather than who's son you are or who you know. Mick has had his chance - 2 years, which was a bigger chance than many. I would be much more excited to hear a young driver was getting a chance like Lawson, Bearman, Antonelli etc.

What I HATE about people is how hard they are on Mick. Does he have the same potential as his father to be a world champion? Realisticallly, no. But does he have the potential to at least have a decent F1 career, with points scoring, maybe podiums, and maybe-just maybe a race win? If given the right car and right circumstances, sure. All people talk about is how crash prone he is. If I recall correctly, he had two major crashes in 2022, just two. Jeddah and Monaco. Were they costly? Yes, but only because it's HAAS were talking about. There was contact with Vettel and a smaller shunt in Suzuka in FP during heavy rain. Out of 23 races, four incidents doesn't really strike me as "all he can do is crash, nothing else". And he didn't really get the best treatment at HAAS. The very open criticism and ultimatum by Steiner...the fact that he found out he'd be sacked for next year in a hotel lobby... What I'm getting at is, he may not be a generational talent, but he is at the very least, a decent driver. And yes, I may be biased because I'm a fan of his dads to this day, but I personally feel that he does deserve another chance to really prove himself. Although, whether the Alpine would be the healthiest environment for that, is heavily debatable...

Sorry but all the money from all the crashes he was in regardless of the comparison with mazepin was also paramount... So it was not just about being favourably threaten or not ... He was an inconsistent driver and a "bankrupter" prone driver ... Probably with alpine it'll be better but it seems Liam Lawson would be a much better fit

  • @lacko623

@@14GoOdLiFe I'm not defending his actual mistakes, and I understand that they were pretty costly to the team. But I respectfully disagree about him being inconsistent. He did have very decent pace compared to KMag and within the realm of what the car was capable of. What irks me is that his mistakes are all some people see and judge him by. Also, I don't know how much it matters in the grand scheme of things, but the biggest crashes happened earlier into the season. But there was clear improvement throughout the year, some people just refuse to see that.

You could promote the top 10 racers in F2 and all of them would be points scorers in a decent car. It’s not hard to find a decent driver, that’s not what teams are looking for.

At the end of the day, I never said, I'm right, it's just my own personal opinion. You could argue that he had two seasons to prove himself, failed to do so and was booted from F1. Not the first and not the last driver with the same fate. And you may be right, I acknowledge that. From my personal view, even if he's not a future world champion, he still has more to offer than what we got to see in 2022, and I also feel that people tend to see his mistakes only and not his entire season...and that he was somewhat done dirty by HAAS. And I did say I'm a bit biased 😃 But you are definitely right in that there is a list of young talents if F2 who are queueing up, desperately waiting for their opportunity in F1

Mick would be better off in a williams seat. Alpine is going downhill. He had a rough time at haas, so unless his race craft really improved at merc being a reserve, and alpine WEC, i think itll just be a repeat of Haas. I was expecting him to be moved up to merc for a year as a buffer or go to williams. But makes sense, he already drives alpine wec lmp. I hope he does good though. Would be nice to see a Schumacher on the grid again.

When you have a car as shitty as the Haas was when Mick was driving, the only option to achieve anything is to push as hard as possible. I rather go over the limit, risking dnf but get close to points or sometimes score some, than being 19th and 20th crossing the line lapped two times… Wouldn’t consider Mick a bad driver, he did really well back when Haas got his back but as soon as the team started to doubt him he lost confidence. He is doing really well in endurance racing and the F1-Test were also really good. It would be nice to see him in a car capable of fighting for points consistently!!

Let's not forget that Alpine is Renault. It is hard to grasp that a major manufacturer is struggling with the current regulations until you look at Mercedes. The car manufacturers arent aero experts but they are engine experts. So... McLaren ( aero experts) do well with a Mercedes engine. Alpine( and Mercedes) should do better when the regulations swing back towards favouring the motive power rather than the aero. As things currently stand, of the car manufacturers go, Ferrari is doing best and Renault are doing worst. Honda dont have a factory team and the aero performance of their chosen chassis clouds the performance of their engine. So in the longer term Mick should do better with Alpine than he did with Hass.
