That’s the toughest man on the planet. You hear him speaking with zero slur and he’s quick. Incredible.
I can't figure out why the rock didn't stop hitting him in head once the blood started. It was clear by that point that it was a danger to go further.

@@davemccombsno it’s what made that era great and this one boring and corny. You didn’t stop just because you see blood. Wrestlers have ways of communicating if they are ok to continue or not

@@BlackEffectyou fool. 😂.
That last shot to the back of the head was savage.
Just watched this match for the first time and really felt for you Mick. I worry about your health from a match like that, but I respect your absolute genius.
Theres a couple of matches I can't ever watch back. Shibata vs Okada (the one with the headbutt), Eddie Guerrero vs JBL at Judgement Day (the one where Eddie nearly bled to death in the ring) and The Rock vs Mick Foley I Quit. Theres Hardcore....then theres matches where people are literally killing each other and it just gets to the point where it's just hard to watch I am glad Mick Foley is still with us, let alone still with his wits about him.
The handcuffs came from the Foley bedroom. 😂
The “I QUIT, I QUIT, I QUIT.” was I recording of a Promo MANKIND did on the Titantron a few weeks before the match. They when over that once before.
The fact is we still talk about this match BECAUSE of the brutal chair shots
Mick Foley is a great guy. Nobody can argue that. I hope Rock apologized for overdoing the chair shots.

That match was not an easy watch. The Rock went overboard and could have seriously hurt Mick

As a kid this match was simply amazing but as an adult some of those shots he takes are just too much!

Same here. I was like 12 and never really grasped the magnitude of the steel chair shot back then. Mick friggin offered up his back at the end and Rock paused with chair in hand above his head and waited for Foley to lift his head up and present it; the final shot when Mick’s not even looking and facing him really irks tf outta me dude fr

Chad Daddy Conrad killing the game again!! Major shoot interview vibes here
Does Conrad have a monopoly on shoot interviews these days? Bloody hell.😅 That I Quit match and the feud between Mankind and The Rock will forever go down as legendary. I feel very fortunate to have been a fan during that point in wrestling history.
Jerry Lawler: Goodbye Brain Cells! 🤣
They cut the reaction from Mick’s family out of the event on Peacock. They actually censor quite a bit on that platform, like removing all the music performances from wrestlemania. It’s infuriating, I wish the WWE streaming service was still around.
I... I am so thankful to be a part of this wrestling. It changed the world of professional wrestling as we know it. It was a great time to be a fan.

and think about all the stars who emerged out of that era of course you had Stone Cold, Rock, Undertaker...but also Mick, Kane, Kurt Angle, Y2J, Triple H...and then the WCW guys like Booker T, Steiner, Sting, Rey Mysterio etc. and then on top of all that ECW guys like RVD, Sabu hell...even midcard guys were massively popular. New Age Outlaws, Rikishi, Godfather, Val Venis, Al Snow lmao

True, however RVD and Sabu were well established at this point. In fact I think WWE killed Tazz, limited RVD and disrespected Sabu. And that was Vinces ego... you know the rapist 😮
yeah no that match was brutal felt like the passion of the Christ the fact that he didn't quit makes it more badass.
Terry Funk and Cactus Jack in Japan. That's the real deal.
i never believed he really said i quit. its clearly a recording you can hear it

The I quit match is indeed BRUTAL, it's not for the feint hearted...
I like Mick Foley. The I quit match went too far.
There are multiple times in the chair shot sequence where Mick is *obviously* communicating to Dwayne to go for a shot to the back but he goes out of his way to find a different angle and hit him in the BACK of the fucking head instead! Never liked Dwayne "Piss Bottles" Johnson, never will.
Hearing him say “I don’t think we needa have a match like that ever again” is sad because these are the legendary matches STILL being talked about 20+ years later. For selfish reasons, I would LOVE to see another.

WWf ruined ecw. We would be having matches like this if it wasn’t for mainstream entertainment.
Ted Dibiase has a good talk on why WWE went downhill after it abandoned the good-evil archetypes (kzread.info/dash/bejne/lYVkrsyFnbzadtY.html). One could argue that the fact that WWF was a draw in the first place was a sign of the decline of US society--after all, most kids who watched it at the time thought it was real--but this kind of thing was proof that something had gone very wrong.
Rocky was still relatively young and newer atp that I think if he really “went into business for himself” with the doubled amount of chair shots that Foley absolutely would’ve confronted him over it. Na Micks a smart guy, he probably realized that it went down like that with Vince’s signing off on it and wanting that to happen, so Foley just let it go.
Mick that match was stupid.
Too emotionally powerful? So the network wants wrestling to be boring bell to bell cheap crap?
It's not a fun match to watch. I don't care if Mick was okay with it at the time, it was senseless on the Rock's part

I mean a little... But they discussed plans before hand.. And I'm sure they actually did agree on the 5 chair shots... But I was disgusted at the back of the head shot... That was scary, and I was only 5 at the time it happened. I remember watching it and being terrified

@@saljewsteinbergowitz Did you even watch the match? Or even this video? It was only supposed to be 5 shots, and turned into 11 shots. All unprotected. This was a match that went completely out of control because the Rock was careless, and could very well have killed Mick. The Rock completely botched this match. Period.
