Mick Fanning at PERFECT Pumping Snapper Rocks

Australia's Gold Coast recently came alive with a never ending run of back-to-back swells. In late April, as the WSL's Championship Tour was doing business on Australia's southern and west coasts, the more northern Gold Coast came alive, and Simon "Shagga" Saffigna (legendary longtime friend and filmer to Mick Fanning), Joel Parkinson and Dean "Dingo" Morrison, was there to capture all of the action.
When the dusted had settled we needed to investigate, so we rang Mick to get the down low. After a marathon stint of waves you'd forgive a surfer for sounding a little low on energy but when Mick answered our call he was full of life and happy to have a chat. So happy, in fact, that we turned the conversation into the soundtrack for the edit above. We think you'll agree it explains the crazy visuals perfectly.
From the incredible waves to the wild wipeouts and the celebrated surfers in the water to the sheer volume of humans in general, Mick was candid and engaging.

How long will Brazilian surfers be ripped off at the WSL? It has always been like this, the judges of the world championships in the history of surfing have always given preference to gringo and aussie surfers and I think that will never change (for obvio$ reason$)... I think that the only solution for curing this corrupt cancer would be the creation of a new league (where there are impartial and transparent judgments and where radical maneuvers and innovations are truly valued) or Brazilian surfers leaving the WSL migrating to the ISA. And on the Saquarema stage we have to organize a strong protest against the World Shame League! OBS - A self-respecting brand does not associate with a corrupt league! I hope the brands that sponsor the World Stolen League wake up and get away from this mafia! (And Mr. Kelly Slater, who has a great name to uphold...will you remain silent and go along with all this filth?...UNFORTUNATE!)
So awesome so awesome so awesome I miss seeing Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning on tour.... I wish I could have seen those guys surfing in a jersey during a major competition!!! How cool two world champions from same location and happen to be good friends!!!! Great interview, great surfing, great location, and great content!!!!!! I wish we could have got more content!!!!
