Mick says a few reasonable non-controversial words and the internet lights up in a war of words - too funny. There is no GOATS or bestest or any other such juvenile crap (just media beat ups to make sales). At the end of the race you can say you are the fastest on the day. At the end of the season you can say you are the best of the season. And then you have got to go a prove it all over again next race or next season. I love Mick for his attitude. Mick would take a bike, any bike, by the scruff of the neck and ride the wheels off it even if there wasn't a person in the world watching - just Mick, the bike, the track and the challenge of taking it to the limit, it doesn't matter if its a works NSR or a DT1 with a clapped out engine and shot wheel bearings and a wobble front and rear. Not all riders have the same attitude, personality or character. Viva la difference, viva the human interest and viva the human spirit of challenge and satisfaction, and the pushing of boundaries to new and higher 'alien' performances.

Mick’s saying ... “watch out for Stoner mate, Ducati’s handling dramas don’t worry him” .. Rossi .. “yea moit no worries, Burgess can sort that Ducati out in 5 minutes”

Rossi is the man.But Doohan helped make him.He taught him aggression and intimidation on the track.nobody was scarier than doohan.Obvious doohan influence when you watch rossi block pass.Stands on the shoulders of giants nothing wrong with that.

I used to be a Doohan supporter. But I found it shocking hearing him talk about Rossi in such a belitteling way. As if Valentino wouldn't have gotten where he is right now, 9 world championship titles under his belt, without him and 'his' team of engineers?! Dream on mate! And be thankfull that you weren't born 15 years earlier.

0.27 Mick you lost races against Okada sometimes. You couldnt have stayed with Rossi, he'd have had you. Sorry, but that's a fact

You do realise rossi lost races against Gibernau, Hayden... do i need to continue?... He's one of the best out there, one of the all time best, but sure not THE all time best rider...

Er, the list of riders who won against the great Mick Doohan is pretty long mate, including Simon Crafar, an ex-WSB rider! Abe beat him, Capirossi beat him, Cadalora beat him, Barros and EVEN Scott Russell etc etc, so what? You're using an irrelevant statistic to claim Rossi isn't the talent we think he is. All the best riders will be beaten on some day or other. The number of wins and titles is the ONLY true measure of greatness, in which case Ago is still rated as one of the best. The ONLY issue with Ago is that some of his titles were won in mixed class races which, looking back, doesnt seem very fair, like the year F1 transitioned to normally aspirated engines from turbos, yet Senna won the championship and record pole positions in a turbo with 500bhp more than the non-turbos. Mad huh. At least Rossi raced single make, as did Doohan.

If we forget about the 92 season due to the assen crash, we can say no one stole the title from Doohan... Beattie, Cadalora, Biaggi, Criville, there were many who tried to, but he lost the crow only because of that career ending crash at the spain GP practice... Rossi lost his crown to Hayden, Stoner, Lorenzo, Marquez... not that irrelevant statistic... if you read well i didn't said the guy is not talented and one of the best... but he's also not that good as everyone claims... But when you say things like "The number of wins and titles is the ONLY true measure of greatness" you need to stop for a moment... ;) The number of titles doesn't make you the best of anything... it sure is one of the biggest measures of greatness, but you need much more than just titles... do i need to remind you that in 89, during the 80cc last season, Manuel Herreros ("Champi") won the world title without any single victory?!!... Would you tell me no one tried harder than him on that season and that the title makes him the best rider on thack that season?!!... Everyone says Lorenzo is a crappy rider, personally i also hate him, but he has 5 world titles, would you say he's also one of the all times greatest?!!... Schwantz won only a single title just because Rainey had that unfortunate crash in italy, isn't he a legend?... Mamola, no titles, also a huge legendary rider... Hayden, one world title, not legendary at all (although i would love to see him win big at the world SBK championship...) I respect rossi fans and have plenty of "rossiniac" friends (although many times i don't get that same respect), but i would never say (once again, just my opinion) he is better than Doohan, Spencer, Saarinen, Agostini or even Hailwood... By the way... both Okada and Itoh were awesome riders, Okada made some awesome racings even with that v2 NSR!!... Cadalora stills my italian favorite rider ever...

Mick is a better rider ... he's gotten more wins in a season then Rossi ever did all with one of the worst leg accidents you can possibly imagine. No one was able to stop him people tried but failed ... who hasn't beaten Rossi? he lost the championship to Hayden & stoner .. yes mick lost one or two races here & there but he was usually still on the podium

Oh, come on people!!! This is so point less to argue whether Rossi or Doohan were better... The question of who was the best racer of all time isn't easy to answer. Was it Agostini with the most titles and most wins of them all? Is it Rossi because if you look at how demanding the motorcycles and competition are? Agostini had to have only talent, bravery and skills. Rossi has to have fitness, because every rider today is a athlete! Every of them is doing 500% more for preparation, than racers did in Agostinis times. Kenny Roberts was one of the first who started coming with a proffesional aproach. And what about those other great riders, that don't have so much wins because of bad luck!!! Yes! Luck!!! Taht is also a factor!!! In the older times, every crash could have stopped your career! Look at the crashes today, that Rossi had and walked away. If that happened to Agostini, he would have been dead!!! Doohan would have won a lot more, wouldn't he have broken his leg again! And Doohan dominated, there is no doubt! And would he be better than Rossi? Would Rossi beat him, if Rossi wouldn't have Jeremy Burges?! It doesn't matter now! Again Rossi left volunteerly Honda at its best to Yamaha, knowing he goes on a less developed bike. Doohan said he would never do that and you gotta admitt, Rossi showed that he is a fighter and loves challenge! So you see, you can not say who is the best!!! You can only say, who won the most and that is still Agostini, but does it make him a better rider than Doohan or Rossi? And what about legends like Hailwood, Reed, Mamola, Sheen, Roberts, Schwantz, Rayney? Who was better? I say anybody, who can ride a MotoGP bike is a hero! And anybody who won a MotoGP race is a legend!!!

The 2 will just 😘 them self after the race !!! Rossi got the top bike of Honda (Michael D) with the made tyres for that bike so it will be so easy to win like he did !! Rossi was at the moment in time and got the best bike .... Like we sean in the past years Rossi = mafia Rossi = Maradona !!!!
