Michigan's Best Day in Petoskey

Join Amy and Gonzo as they travel to Petoskey in Northern Michigan. Start of the day with some amazing doughnuts. Get your fill of poutine and pair it with a craft beer for lunch. They even stop by one of Ernest Hemingway's old haunts for dinner.

I loved going to Petoskey and Harbor Springs when I lived in Michigan. McLean and Eakin is a wonderful book store.

I grew up there! I moved downstate and Petoskey is the only place I go on vacation.

That was really nice, but how on earth could you miss the Million Dollar Sunset?! Petoskey and Key West have two things in common: Ernest Hemingway and the fact that everyone goes to the pier to watch the sunset every evening.

are people over there very intimate or are they "each to their own" distanced people ? I am looking for a quiet small beach city with low population, good facilities and people who mind their own business, is Petoskey that city ?

If you’re looking for more laidback I’d recommend Elk Rapids. I’ve been spending my summers there since I was a child and I never get sick of it. Always looking for ways to spend more and more time there. It’s also in a great area, close to traverse city and Charlevoix.

Ummm facts, please? I know for a FACT there's* absolutely no proof*! that Hemingway wrote his Nick Adams stories at City Park Grill, which, incidentally, was NOT named that back when Ernie hung out there. If you weren't such hacks, you whould have noted that. Hemingway rented a room a few blocks away, on State Street, where he lived briefly and is reported to have started writing the Nick Adams stories. There's a historical marker in front of the house where he rented a room at the time, but of course you two wouldn't know that because you didn't dig too deep into this piece. Furthermore, I know *FOR A FACT* !! that the whitefish is ABSOLUTELY **NOT** "caught fresh and delivered daily" to City Park Grill and Hemingway did *NOT* grind out his cigar on that bar so often it left a dugout hole!! 🤣 I lived and worked in Petoskey for more than 20 years and I'm truly really mystified where you people got your "facts"! It's evident you fell victim to the Petoskey urban legends that the locals tell tourists (aka the "fudgies") to enthrall them and garner a good tip...I know! Been there/done that! 🤣 Seriously, though, it doesn't take more than a few clicks to do wildly more accurate research than you did. Smh.
