Please, Michigan has everything. It has a history & winning tradition in football that most schools lack. Michigan was the very first college marching band to be awarded the Sudler Trophy as the top band in the nation by the John Philip Sousa Foundation. You can only win the prestigious trophy once, so the school that wins it first is the most highly regarded. lol Michigan also has the best college fight song or football march according to the late, great John Philip Sousa. Michigan was also the very 1st FBS school to win a national championship in football (1901) and won the very first bowl game in history, the 1902 Rose Bowl. Michigan boasts 42 Big Ten championships in football, which is the most, and 11 recognized national championships in football.

in my opinion ,history doesn't matter it is what happens in the now. For example my older brother goes to Baylor and I go to K-State, so our teams play each other every year, K-State has a winning record against Baylor, but since Baylor has beat K-State the last two times we have met, my brother has the bragging rights until K-State beats them again.

Loads of B1G and National titles? Check. Star players/Heismans? Check and check. National relevance, still? Uh-huh. @AAK15 Did you notice the new drum major this year doesn't spin the baton in his left hand when arching back like Jeff McMahon did? He just puts the hat on the ground, crosses his arms and arches back. If you've never noticed before, go back to the 2:00 minute mark of the video. McMahon holds the hat in his right arm and spins the baton with his left hand while arching back and touching his head to the ground. A-MAIZE-ING! I couldn't do it either way...just saying McMahon was great!

Notre Dame fans cannot really hate Michigan. Notre Dame sits on Michigan Avenue that is a straight drive into Michigan, the University of Michigan taught Notre Dame how to play football, and Big Blue is one of only a few schools that hold a win / loss lead over the Irish .Although I do think Notre Dame has the most exhilarating and most apropos lyrics in their fight song and is probably the most well used high school fight song nation wide . In my city alone there are three high schools that use the ND fight song and in a 150 mile radius at least 15 or more do and that’s in Texas ! I’d say there is a rivalry between the two universities and football teams but not a passionate hate like their is between Michigan and Ohio State,Texas and the loathsome Aggies,or Alabama and Auburn , or several others,I think the most passionate rivalry of Notre Dame is that damn USC…who I cannot stand being a Texas Longhorn.Texas HAD TO BEAT usc in that Rose Bowl game ! I could not stomach a third national championship in a row for that damn usc . Or another one for george- juh, next year.

Not only is it one of the richest colleges in the US & the world. Michigan is ranked as one of the very best universities in the world by US News & World Report. It's the only American public university ranked among the top 20 universities in the world. Michigan is ranked as the 14th best university in the world, just a fraction of a point behind 13th ranked Princeton & well ahead of Cornell, which is ranked 15th. Watch videos of Ohio State's--excuse me, THE Ohio State's, as if that makes any sense--drum line, and Michigan's drum line. They're right here on KZread, and the camera doesn't lie. Michigan destroys "TBDBITL" with a band half the size, using volunteer recruits. It's a classical ensemble vs. a country show.

Ok, I live across the border in Ontario, a couple hours drive from Ann Arbor. I ain't ever been to a Wolverines game, but this video has pretty much convinced me to go.

Did you ever go?
Notre Dames Band is about 140 (+-) a few years old. They are still the BEST in the world. MSU is good; ND is GREAT!
I Love Michigan

So glad the renewed the rivalry
Full stadium participation Razzmatazz 🙂 Awesome 🤘
goose bumps
Bella presentación de Michigan😂🎉😢❤❤❤❤❤
I have been to the 'Shoe for several games. The Ohio State band is the main reason why. The Big House, Notre Dame Stadium and Neyland Stadium are all on my bucket list.
Goddamn I love college football. I remember going to the '98 Rose Bowl when I was 13 with my dad. You know where the Drum Major was from that year in '97? Pasadena, California. If that is not destiny, destiny does not exist.
Welcome to the magic of night home games. Wish you guys would play more of them. GEAUX TIGERS!

All opponents that are experiencing this for the first time: Why f*** are we doing this
Steve Everitt walks by @3:42. I'm incredibly jealous, the new renovated Big House looks AMAZING. Hopefully I can get tickets to the MSU game.
The greatest sight in college sports
Best game ever

Well come visit and join us! Great equestrian programs too..
It was the light reflected in the videographers cam lens
@Jordan Arnold I've been to plenty of MSU games because my grandpa is an MSU graduate and their band has nothing in Michigans. OSU and Michigan have the 2 best marching bands in the country.
He's a former player. I forget his name but do recall that he was an excellent player.
You'd have to be there to really appreciate it. The sound pressure can take your breath away. Of course, being a fan of the team helps.
Mighty Meeechigan!
I liked your comment not only because i agree with you, i am thankful for your sincerity and kindness, unlike the typical stubborn stuck-up Michigan fan. The Spartan Marching Band is the best band in the country. GO GREEN.
GO BLUEE BABY!!!!! HAIL TO THE VICTORS
@andyk10013 Don't know, he was talking to people next to me. It was very crowded on the sidelines that game.
Gives me chills!! And, did anyone else see the lightning in the top left corner? I loved how Michigan brought their own special lightning for the 4th quarter that game... Also, did you see that guy at 3:44? Not sure who he is, but I've noticed him in a lot of photos taken in Michigan Stadium. Who is this guy?!
@blazingdarkness16 Regardless of who you love or hate, this is simply one of the greatest traditions in all of college football. GO BLUE!
To the person who recorded this,I think that was former Michigan player Steve Everitt to your right at the 4 minute mark
3:10 Tell that guy to shut up
Let me save you a trip to see legendary Notre Dame Stadium. It's a smaller replica of Michigan Stadium, since ND has its roots in Michigan football.
Michigan is a true Public Ivy League school. We love our Wolverines too. Go Blue!!
kinda makes me tear up a little bit.
howd u get on the sidelines?
As a Bama fan I agree the Michigan band is a superior unit but no SEC team would be scared by the band and crowd. Never saw a band or crowd score a point. I suggest checking out the Texas A&M band pre game entry for another excellent and entertaining performance.
Dam America is fucking on the top of the world for sports

Do I need a pass to go onto the Michigan Stadium sideline?
i dont really give a shit what you think about OSU. but all marching bands have one thing in common. we all love music. thats all that matters really. to me marching is about making life-long friends and doing what i love.
It may have been someone that he seen on the jumbo screen? just a thought.
Go Blue!

Thank for the offer, but why would I want to watch a video of their band? After watching this video several times, I don't have the time. Go Blue!
LETS GO BLUE!!!!
Back down son! Yea! :)
March on big blue hail to the victors
I think Ohio states and Michigans marching bands are the best college bands in the US! 2 different style though. One sticks to military roots and tradition while the other is the definition of a modern and more recent marching band.
The NFL and soccer can't fuck with this

MSU is definitely considered huge. I think any school in the top 10 in enrolled students can be considered 'huge'.
For all the Michigan haters out there: Go Blue!
What is the person in the video referring to with "Chords?"
GO BLUE
oh ho, he's a musician, folks. forget that JP Sousa guy, Lekcots11 has some reservations.
i dont think so, im not an OSU fan but they have a pretty cool one, even if u r a U M fan u have to admit it
MSU is about 48,000, and MSU is not considered HUGE either.
Very loud, the way I like the Big House. Go Blue!
Stanford is ranked 12th, Princeton 13th, Michigan 14th...Yep, Michigan is the only American public university ranked among the top 20 best universities in the world. Cal-Berkeley is ranked 21st well behind Michigan. Berkeley doesn't have anywhere near the endowment that Michigan has.
Man I don't know about that I've seen a lot of empty seats in the last couple games, I know you made this comment two months ago but it's really depressing
So eventually, every band will win it?
6 Days till kickoff 2013 season go blue
Steve Everett just walks past lmao
ohio states percussion doesn't do their own drumline things. they are always with the band.
Good GOD I get ridiculus goosebumps every time I hear this. GO F*CKING BLUE
Uniform chords maybe... I think he said "whose chords"
EXTREMELY LONG BATTLE
Idk about anyone else but I didn't hear the notre dame fight song :p
I'm talking about Michigan, the great academic institution and the LEGENDARY, all time "winningest" program in college football history with 11 national championships, 42 conference championships (the most in major college football), and the ONLY B10 team to win a BCS game in '12 & finishing '11 with the best record in the B10 with a rookie 1st yr coach. PLEASE, compare that with MOO U which is a very weak program which failed to win the B10 with a VET team & has NEVER played in a BCS game. LOL
Go blue
10 Richest Colleges in the US: 1) Harvard: 2) Yale; 3) Princeton; 4) Stanford 5) MIT 6) Michigan; 7) Columbia; 8) Northwestern; 9) Penn; 10) Chicago *MIchigan-Ann Arbor is the most endowed public university in the US. This is in response to oxfordblues. Someone spammed his comment & my response. Stop the spamming!
So the Michigan band won the first Sudler Trophy. That definitely means that everything at Michigan is better than Ohio State. And Ohio State won it two years later, so theres not a huge difference.

3:40 random Steve Everitt
Ah.
