As great as Charles Woodson's TD run was, the #1 moment in Michigan Stadium history has to be the '69 defeat of National Champion Ohio State when you consider all of the circumstances surrounding that game. It changed Michigan football forever. In the preceding years Michigan had trouble putting fans in the stands. Since then, the stadium has been full and Michigan is always considered a top-tier football program. All because of one game. It has to be number one.

Number 1 will always and probably forever be Johnny Wangler to Anthony Carter - 45 yard miracle play with no time left for Schembechler’s team to beat Indiana. Never before, and never since, have the fans gone so crazy, for so long. No one wanted to leave the stadium that day. They hung around for an hour after the game, before they finally began to leave. Goal posts were tore down and paraded throughout the town. It was on the 100th anniversary of Michigan football, on Homecoming Day. Bob Ufer topped it off with the greatest radio call ever: “Johnny Wangler to Anthony Carter will be heard until another 100 years of Michigan football is played.”

Love this vid, and the memories and moments. However, the fans got this one wrong. It is impossible to say how huge the 1969 win over that school down south was. Michigan beat the best college football team (maybe ever) that year; it established Bo's program at UM; it set the stage for literally everything that came after it (including all of these highlights). It was, and remains, the upset of the century, and it should be number one on this, and all subsequent lists. People have short memories, but this one will last forever.

Stewart's throw was tipped and another Colorado received happened to be in the right place at the right time. Not sure why Stewart gets the credit for this. Anyway, I would imagine it's one of Colorado's top ten moments, rightfully so, but it's not a top anything moment for Michigan.

So it was the case of a Good Team having a Great season beating a team that was honestly not having a great season at all. Surprising? yes, most definitley. Upset? not so much in my opinion.

It’s not the size of the school, it’s the income the team brings in. And App State at the time wasn’t bringing in as much as a school like Tulsa, which is much smaller in terms of enrollment.

I can’t believe they didn’t have Lloyd’s first win against Virginia in 1995, coming back from a 17-0 hole to win on a Mercury Hayes catch in the corner as time expired.

Saw every one of them. Remember every one. Even though, technically, Michigan would have beaten ND without the Catch, I remember 4th down and commercial break and time out and like 15 years of delay for that play, and as soon as Grbac went back I said, "NO! Not a pass! What are you and idiot?!??!" Grbac to Fire for it. He's going for it all... A DIVING CATCH FOR A TOUCHDOWN! HOLY COW! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? My head still hurts from where it hit the ceiling. THAT is my #1 play of all times in the Big House.

all arguing for the howard return to be #1 need to remember that the woodson return meant so much more because it was a crucial play in the hunt for a national title. Howard's should be #2 because although his pose is iconic, it only meant the big 10 title not the national title.

I agree with that because as said up top there woodson run lead up to the national championship and Howard was the big ten title but both were phenomenal football players though, go amazing blue, south Ga grip to the casket drop destin to make it. (First power lycan)

Woodson't touchdown was hands down most electrifying moment. So much was at stake, and it meant: game, Heisman, National Championship (we figured beating WSU was a forgone conclusion). I'd like to know who it was that threw that last great block to eliminate the final potential blocker.

As it should be, the 2021 Big Ten Championship will come down to OSU v Michigan. I know Bob Ufer will be watching. We were at the 1979 Indiana game. For one year, we had season tickets at the 50 yard line maybe 20 rows up.

These are all excellent. But my favorite Wolverine moment of all time is still Leroy Hoard's big run late in the 1989 Rose Bowl against USC. Blue was ahead by 1 point late in the game, and the O-line gave Hoard a big hole to run through. Hoard broke a big one to put the Wolverines in scoring position. It was as glorious a play as you will ever see from a Michigan team.

top five Manningham to seal the win. Howard notre dame. Anthony Carter vs indiana. woodson kick return. Howard kick return. - as it happened I recall woodson doing it and hoping he did a heisman pose like howard, but then thinking maybe not as no defensive player ever won before.
