Part 1: • Michael Jai White Expl...
--------
In this clip, Micheal Jai White spoke about Mike Tyson punching the passenger on the plane. Michael said he wasn’t surprised that something like that happened considering Tyson’s hypersensitivity. He explained that people like Tyson are hypersensitive and hyper-vigilant in order to survive. Not to mention that many of the most dangerous people he’s ever come across, like Tyson, are shorter than average.

    The funny thing is that you can see it in certain people but if you grew up with a person you can't see it. My cousin noticed it in a guy who was deep in the drug world that, I had literally known since second grade. I told my cousin I didn't know what he was talking about. Same thing is the case with a close relative I have who was a major player during the Crack Wars in the 80's. But I can see it in other people.

    This is one part of the true essence of martial arts. Awareness. This must also be coupled with two other martial arts virtues (humility) and (compassion) to be fully realized and used as a daily practice. We are all working on these which is the true essence of martial arts. The physical aspect of martial arts is what outsiders always focus on even though the physical 'baddassery' is least important of all.

    Very interesting perspective. Years ago on a news channel late at night they would run a show, just pictures and descriptions, of Suffolk County’s most wanted. After watching it I noticed that the majority of individuals wanted for murder or attempt murder were little guys, 5’8” or shorter. I’m 5’6” and grew up in Harlem and the South Bronx. You always had your “antenna” up and when you’re small there is always the propensity to jump at the first sign of a situation going bad. Being small you don’t have the luxury of wait and see. If you don’t initiate you may not have any chance of surviving. Beyond that anyone that would intentionally mess with Tyson or White has a few screws missing.

    Tyson answered that ignorant question beautifully. In fact, the answer was more brutal than his fists. He humanized those "street guys" in a way the interviewer couldn't even comprehend. If you were Mike's friend from back in the day, he's not going to forget you just because his rich. That's a little something they call respect and loyalty, an alien concept to some people, apparently. As long as he's not involved in illegal activity, there's nothing wrong with staying close to your roots.

    MJW was so on point here. Everybody likes to underestimate what smaller to average sized guys are capable of. What they don't understand is that we've developed a hyper sensitive survival instinct, where we're not looking for the fight; but we're ready to end one quickly at a moments notice. This is because most of us were picked on when we were kids, by our larger peers. So when we get older, we're not about giving anyone a chance to actually hurt us.

  • @GeezLightning

    @GeezLightning

    Жыл бұрын

    I think the reverse can play out to. When you have visible size, you can fall back on it to avoid some problems, so there is a chance your instinct gets dulled. You may not see something coming, or you might try to take a hit you shouldn't rather than react.
