I use to love Friday afternoon at school becuase it was soon to be Friday night and I couldn't wait to watch Donny and Marie. Bahahaha. I was super young. I'm 55 now. Lol.

He knows that his name isn't poisonous. However, he accepted the fact that the industry functions in a certain way.

Being a lifelong fan of Donny's, I knew it was him the minute I heard Soldier of Love.

That must have been very hurtful for Donny but Donny was able to overcome pain and has come a long way.

I think Michael should have explained what he meant by that back then. I think what Michael should have said was that Donny has a great name but the music industry back then thought of Donny as just a kid Osmond thought they wouldn’t take him seriously. Obviously the music industry was wrong because Donny transitioned from a kid to a great adult solo artist. ❤ Maybe Michael was hearing that from the music industry back then himself since Michael was just a kid Jackson 5 before he also became a great adult solo artist.

The Osmonds were known as teenie bopper singers and the Donny and Marie show was watched by older folks, the grandmas and grandpas of those former teenie boppers but when Soldier of Love came out, the adult Donny was recognized as a very good and musically versatile singer. His performance as Joseph ( and the Amazing Dream Coat) was spectacular!

I knew the moment I heard "Soldier of Love" it was Donny Osmond. I had been listening to him for a very long time and that voice is remarkably soulful. I knew.

I remember this. I got to work and kept saying that it was donny. Everyone said i was crazy until they said his name. They were in shock asking me how i knew - told them we never missed an episode of the donny and Marie show

Didn’t matter, I saw the video and was tickled it was Donny Osmond. His name was never poison, it was innocence - and when you really listen to Soldier of Love, it was a Donny Osmond song to perfection.

Donny true fans didn't feel that way and the second I heard that voice on soldier of love I turned to my husband and said that is DONNY OSMOND!!!!!!

I listened to radio stations playing soldier of love and having contests if you could name the singer, I recognized Donnys voice immediately and friends said NAHHHHH THATS NOT HIM!! I said oh yes it is and I won cash and merchandise and a copy of the album, got to see Donny live too eventually, great voice!

Donny has always been great. His 70's music was soft and sappy and his name became synonymous with that. 1989 music audience had different tastes by then. Different generation.

I went to see The Osmonds twice. He got married at 19 and did that crappy show. We- teens- who had been devoted fans left him.

I opened for Donnie in 1991, his name was not poison with the crowd of ladies at the show😊

I was a fan of the Osmond brothers, but got very disappointed when i realized they didn't really play their own instruments either live or on record. I think Wayne and Merrill were pulling to change that situation but failed. So the group continued to go the Elvis Las Vegas suits, teen idol route. By age 13, i couldn't relate. Then Duane Allman died in October of 1971. I was one pf those who thought it was Wayne. So, in a weird way the Osmonds turned me on to The Allman Brothers.

Michael wasnt trying to hirt him.he knew and knows what family hes from and the image he wanted woulda been hard to get away from that image. His fame was that of Elvis's unsurpassed. Fast forward the Michael's career took after thriller to heights that most dont cant ecen fathom now whether er you believe Michael's controversial life or allegations everyone has their judgements on him. I for believe he wasn't a predator got bad advice from lawyers and a drug addiction. Michael was murdered becuase of how powerful he was and industry's still racists in ways. Michael still has powerful messages with songs like man in the mirror, heal the world, earth song , and we are the world and a legacy as big as Elvis's. But michael knows also how the indystry thinks.

That does not make is name prison if you were a true fan like I am you would never turn your back on him so what if he get married at 19 it's his life and all there's years later Donny and Debbie are sill married and so in love they have a beautiful family ❤❤❤

I remember when soldier of love came out. The DJS would announce there was no name but many thought it was Donny Osmond and so did I. My mom nailed it. It's Donny but they are keeping it a mystery because of his sugary sweet image. It has zilch with his marriage. Then came animated movie Aladdin. When I heard the song I told my then husband it was Donny. He grew up all country until he discovered Rob Zombie lol. Yes. His sugary sweet image killed his career.

Jackson’s got tired of being compared to the Osmond’s and probably built up a somewhat resentment of being so.

It seems that Michael offended both Donnie Osmond and Sir Paul McCartney but for different reasons. The strange thing is that they are still here and sadly Michael is not. It’s sad that wholesome doesn’t sell entertainment.
