Michael Ryan : The Hungerford Massacre

Michael Ryan was a quiet loner when he was a kid, so he began pretending to be a military trained survivalist as an adult. When that didn’t bring him the respect he was looking for, he grabbed his guns and set out to kill as many people as he could.

There was a guy on KZread who told the story of his suicide attempt. He had cut one of his wrists and then he remembered he had to feed his dog and make sure he was fine. That was enough time for clarity or help to come along. That's what amazing about dogs (pets in general acrially)actually. We love them more than we live ourselves. Perhaps if we don't think our lives are worth it, we should consider what these little guys would go through without you. Maybe that would be enough to at least try... for them.

Sorry to say but souls don't exist/are part of human mythos. That said, there's no doubt that sapience is determined by the brain, and the brain is the most complex organ our body develops prenatally - there's a lot that can go wrong (just like the body). Some people are born with the prerequisite defects to develop anti-social personality disorder (psychopathy), some people are bonked on the head real good and that does it. The good news is that since it has nothing to do with a mythical eternal spirit that possesses our body, and instead is a defect of the brain, potentially it's treatable - perhaps future victims can be prevented one day. C'mon science, let's goooooo~!

You go into the names and relationships of many of the victims, which Britain's Most Evil Killers didn't, except for a few. Great video, as always. This case in 1987, the Columbine School Shooting (1999), the Bath School Massacre (1926), and the recent Robb Elementary Shooting (2022) will forever stand out to me as some of the most horrific mass murders in the US. Notice how 3 of the 4 occurred at schools. How disgusting and evil, to kill innocent children!

Only just discovered your channel so comment rather late. Great account. It reminded me that a guy I once knew was a soldier at the camp some 10-15 miles down the road and was on sentry duty that day. He said they heard the shooting and recognised it as an AK. Thinking it could be Irish terrorists (this was at the end of the Troubles) the corporal dished out ammunition and had the guard turn out and load into landrovers but their officer stopped them going to investigate as it was a 'civilian matter' off base and the Army couldn't intervene. Had they done so Ryan would have come face to face with real soldiers who'd have been there much quicker than the armed police... a what if spoiled by red tape. I don't know if that ever got out at whatever inquest/enquiry was held afterwards. Who knows if it could have saved some lives?

I used to really enjoy your work and would smash the like button before the clip was even close to finishing. That ended when you started bashing Mormons and calling their religion a cult without having any personal experience with the religion. After that video of yours I did continue to watch your work but I've never clicked the like button again. And now... after your obvious extreme left liberal political views I've found myself questioning whether or not I'll be clicking on another one of your videos. 🤔 Extremism in any direction... left, right, up or down is not healthy for anyone and quite often becomes dangerous for those wrapped up in it. Personally, I've fought for our country as a military member for the last 21 years and completely respect your right to freedom of speech. Having dedicated almost half of my life to fighting for the freedoms that make the USA so great, it saddens me to see how divided our country really is. I truly belive that we'd all be better off if we could meet somewhere in the middle on the big issues and stop sweating the small stuff. AKA/ live and let live. I will say that when you share your opinion about the Monsters in your videos I have always agreed with and appreciate the truth you speak about the despicable beings that commit such horrific acts against others. They are MONSTERS.

@1903 Springfield I don't have any personal experience with Mormons? Weird, I didn't know that about myself. Please, tell me more about myself stranger. You clearly know more about me than I do. Wanting less people to die is not a right or left position. It's a human position. Someone who serves our country should be able to understand that. I do absolutely agree with you that we should be able to meet in the middle and pro-gun people being absolutely unwilling to even talk about gun regulations kinda flies in the face of that. I've never promoted banning all guns. I shoot guns all the time. I'm actually a pretty decent shot. So I am more than willing to meet in the middle. Far too many people are dying in our country and our children fear for their lives at school. That needs to change. If wanting that change makes me a "left", that I'm really sad for whoever isn't a "left", because we should all want that. And please, stop making assumptions about me. You have no idea how I've lived my life or what I've experienced.

@Funny Clips Mass murders are now an extreme rarity in the UK and Europe. That's due to very strong gun laws. Those who are licensed to have guns, usually only for hunting, have to undergo deep background checks. Their guns must be kept locked in heavy duty safes, which are bolted into concrete ground. Police can turn up at any time, such as 3.15am or 5pm and ask to see the safe and guns. If they are not securely locked in the safe, the owner can lose their licence and the guns are seized immediately. I could never live in the US. Gun crime there is totally out of control. When I spent a holiday there, I was sickened at the sight of civilians open carry fund and even AR's in some states.

I was there that day and I will never forget the sounds of gunshots being sharper and more metallic than the usual 12 bore shotguns (common in that area) while we were on the marsh. From around midday onwards, the whole town changed. We could see the fire of his burning home and that of his neighbours from our house. In 1987 there were only 57 million people in the UK, with far less guns than people. There are over 400 million firearms accounted for in the U.S. That's not counting the illegal gun manufacturing and distribution coming into the U.S., as well as homemade guns, and Ghost Guns. Some people have estimated there to be enough guns in the U.S. for every man, woman, and child on Earth to have TWO, and some people would have three. These numbers have an impact on the effectiveness of gun control in the United States, and it's in very bad taste to be trivializing a hot button issue for views.

The best way to stop murder is to make it illegal. That will stop criminals from their horrendous actions.

I live near Hungerford and also, at that time, had just quit working at one of the rare gunshops in the UK, Windsor Guns and Fieldsports, where i had worked for a couple of years. My best friend was/is a local gunsmith and makes stocks for amongst others the Purdy shotgun company. I was absolutely up to speed with the shooting community and gun laws in our country. After Ryan commited the unspeakable act Windsor Guns eventually closed as trying to get a shotgun license (for a good time) was almost as difficult as getting a firearms certificate. Pre Hungerford a farmer (for instance) could buy 10,000 shotgun cartridges if he wished, after the laws changed there was a cap. Firearms certificates were already difficult enough to be granted as police checks were stringent, pistols (certainly in my end of Berkshire) had to be stored at a gun club and were very, very rarely allowed to be taken home. Home had to have certified gun cabinets bolted to floor and walls and hidden. The limit of live rounds depended on the owners job, as in did he use his rifle to keep vermin down or was he a weekend user. After Hungerford this was even tightened, your mental history was checked thoroughly as was your familial mental history. Regular amnesties harvested thousands of firearms, swords, knives etc. Yes the gunshops slowly disappeared. But absolutely for the better.

@@ChomoBidensMules it was stopped dead in its tracks for nearly 3 decades after Hungerford. Yes it's rearing its head often these days but without those laws coming in we would be in a lot worse state than we are. Are you from Britain. Really not wanting to start a pointless online fight, just asking. Knife crime here is terrible but shootings are rare, not as rare as they were but still rare. Gangs prefer knives, knife culture, knife attack initiations into gangs are rife. New knife laws are being put in all the time.

You guys don't realize that gun regulations don't equal a ban on all guns. If you would simply learn more about what you're fighting against, maybe we could actual lessen gun deaths and mass shootings in the US. I know, it's crazy.

Either way, people are going to get mad when you bring up politics, but at the very least you shouldn't give them ammunition by leaving room for interpretation.

I talk about gun regulations. It's not my fault that pro-gun people don't understand what it is. They're so paranoid that people are coming to take their guns away they refuse to let themselves understand what gun regulations actually do. It's not my job to make sure idiots who refuse to learn about what their arguing against understand a simple and well known definition. If someone chooses to base their reaction on ignorance, I can't stop them. I can't spell out every little detail because people don't want to be educated about what their arguing about.

@@thisisMONSTERSIf you outlaw guns, the criminals aren't going to follow the law. Politicians rally for "gun regulations " yet walk around with armed body guards. SO hypocritical.. We're supposed to depend on the cops to save us. The cops usually don't get there in time to save you, the cops get there to figure out what happened. We are all we have.
