Game Freak I don't know, I seem to have started at around the same age, and always figured well, most players who play better than me have started guitar early on in their lives; and they have learned music theory in music schools. Kinda shuts my mouth about making excuses for my mediocrity

It's not when you start playing that matters but how you practice. An intelligent goal oriented practice session is more important and it helps if you have a great teacher that will criticize your technique and show you how to practice correctly! It is also important to be self-critical and analyze the details of your technique!

Michael Romeo is absolutely amazing... IMO, probably the best METAL guitarist ever, and I can't stand 'best' labels. Yngwie may have been there first with the neo-classical shredding (actually Uli Roth) but Romeo takes it to a whole other level that's WAY more musical and sophisticated, and he's a great writer. Those that make fun of him are NOT funny... Let's see your talented video, smart ass.

Agreed. His approach is so musical yet very technical as well. As for the fat jokes like "Sea of Fries" "Romeo is Yngwie that eats Batio" etc, I think just chill and ignore em man, not all of them really meant it like they hate him, just an immature teasing joke, let em be. And about those who hate or jealous and make fun of Romeo, it just shows how good Michael truly are 🤘

Symphony X is one of the concert circuits best live acts. Allen Russell is a superb front man. Great vocal abilities. SX is tight and just about flawless. Michael Romeo is not only technically proficient, but more importantly, has deep artistic intuition. He's toured the world several times over. Much respect for Michael and Symphony X. Can't wait for the next CD. Even better, DVD. Continued prosperity to a fantastic American icon.

This is great! Favorite parts: Tapping Arps 34:08, 35:22, 37:31. 6:33, 20:43, 23:48 all remind me of some of the things Shawn Lane used to do! Wild! 25:02 reminds me of the classical stuff Paul Gilbert does and 35:05 is Tony MacAlpine level stuff. Awesome!
@Despond
6 ай бұрын
It does, especially the first one - One example is "Get You Back" by Shawn Lane. Shawn would play it all with just his left hand though and extend to notes with slides. Which makes it insane. Even Romeos string skipping diminished runs Shawn would all play with his left hand. However, tapping does give a different sound.

One of my favorites, a beast on the guitar and totally the best riffs ever...
Damn, Michael Romeo is underrated. Some seriously good technique here and he makes it look so effortless.
What blows my mind about this guy is how he didn't start guitar really early on, and didn't even go to any music school (not for too long anyway) and yet he's still among the greatest; both technically and musically

It's not when you start playing that matters but how you practice. An intelligent goal oriented practice session is more important and it helps if you have a great teacher that will criticize your technique and show you how to practice correctly! It is also important to be self-critical and analyze the details of your technique!

Michael Romeo is on the absolute top level as a guitar player. And... he is a great composer and arranger. And... he has his own style and tone. As advanced as Tony MacAlpine, Jason Becker and Ethan Brosh.
The "Out Of The Ashes" main solo at 30:37 has a section that sounds influenced by JS Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.

And about those who hate or jealous and make fun of Romeo, it just shows how good Michael truly are 🤘
Dude yeah...after each trip I just keep coming back to this, and the man is simply spot on he really is... Note-for-note flawless, at least so far as I can tell...
Michael Romeo an incredible guitarist, unmistakable sound ....

One of the mosters of guitar all of time. The neoclassic master.
Awesome!
