Dude, I fucking cried during Michael’s proposal. It was more emotionally satisfying to me than Jim and Pam, because Jim and Pam was always going to happen, but Michael finding love was always uncertain throughout the show.

Couldn’t agree more, I also love that although he emotionally matured, shown by how he initially lets her go, he didn’t need to change for Holly. She loved him exactly as he was and he was deserved and vice verse.

I think it was a parallel to the time they both knelt down on the floor where Michael was talking to Holly whilst she was fixing her chair, which is also the one of the first moments they had with each other.

Probably my favorite moment in the whole series. Even the people who usually don’t share in the happy moments like Angela and Stanley are smiling ear to ear for Michael. You can really tell how much they all truly care for him.

One of the things that I picked up on was that even Stanley and Ryan were shocked to find out that Michael was leaving to go to Colorado with Holly. It made me realize that they too care about Michael, even if it doesn't seem like they do

Michael often gets it wrong. But when he gets it right, he gets it so, so right. I love those moments in the show when you see the purity of his heart despite all his flaws. It's powerful.

“This is where I fell in love with you, and this is where I ask you to marry me.” 😭😭😭😭 so heartwarming

i cried so hard when michael said " this is where i fell in love with you ". bawled like a baby.

I like how everyone was happy and cheering for Michael and Holly after Michael proposed Holly. It's like deep inside even character's like Stanley and Ryan cared for him. The character development of all this cast to this point was the best and that's what makes us have emotional connection with them. They were all happy for Michael and were bit of shocked and sad when he told them he is moving to Colorado.

He ordered those candles from Serenity by Jan. Bonfire... James Bonfire...Khhhh

The fact that everyone came together to help Michael do that shows how much they all genuinely care for him despite all the craziness he’s put them through throughout the years. Michael can be pretty oblivious but he really has a heart of gold and just wanted someone to love him. They all saw how perfect Holly was for him. I appreciate the show for making that scene truly emotional and really beautiful on Michael’s part

Ugh I really loved Michael's proposal. Holly loved him for who he was and didn't try to change him. They needed a happy ending

The scene gets so sad once Kevin says "All of us?" It was such an innocent line and then they all look so sad standing there shocked.

Michael's words about him leaving with Holly reflected how much the office like him, from becoming someone usually irritating he became the heart of the place

When michael wants something to be perfect, it has to be perfect. In previous instances, when things go awry, he often will pout or throw a temper tantrum. In this instance, Holly thought it was perfect. So therefore it is perfect for Michael. I love that about his character

“ this is where I fell in love with you, and this is where I’m asking you to marry me” such simple but very emotional line. I cry every time when I watch this scene. Amazing ❤

Kevin's reaction was so innocent and sweet.

I noticed that Holly and Michael's relationship was also sort of like Jim and Pam's (which is why I think they zoomed up on them). Holly was with AJ (like Pam was with Roy) and Michael was with Jan (like Jim and Karen) and Michael had feelings for Holly first (like Jim had feelings for Pam) but she was in a relationship but when things finally worked out they had their proposal in the 'rain' like Jim and Pam did :D Also the ring box looks the exact same as Jim's!! but total speculation.

There were some similarities, but the setup was a bit different. By the time Holly arrived in Scranton, Michael and Jan broke up. And, while Michael did have feelings for Holly first (which changed his mind about instantly hating her), it resulted in them dating. After a while, they split, and like Jim, Michael dealt with seeing the woman he loved with another man. Jim and Pam were key parts of this all happening though, which may be why the camera zoomed in on them. Early in Season 5, Jim recognized that Michael and Holly had similar personalities, and based on experience with Pam, he likely knew that they would hit it off. He encouraged Michael to get to know Holly better, which worked and led to them dating. Pam, who was mostly away when Michael and Holly dated, encouraged Michael that it wasn't completely over, after she read Holly's letter (a difference compared to when she and Michael discussed Jan's voicemail, during Season 2).

The look on every single character’s face when Michael says he’s going to Colorado is absolutely devastating. Even Stanley looks crushed..

these kinds of lame and/or unintentionally funny proposals are what make me believe in love. My parents don't have a proposal story. My dad was too poor to buy a ring so I'm pretty sure he just asked my mom to marry him and then they... announced it to everyone. It wasn't some huge event with all their friends in on it. But they're still in love and have been for over 16 years. Jim and Pam's and Ben and Leslie's were very much on the down-low; I love it! Anyway, that's my rant. Also I could watch compilations of Jim and Pam all day. they're so freaking cute

The size of the box is a callback to when Ben told Leslie to run for city council even though they would have to break up. Leslie also had a box that size when she told Ben to run for Congress instead of her.

Steve Carell plays Michael SO well. No matter what craziness happens because of him you know his heart is looking for love and family. He's always wanted it. I love that he found his soulmate in Holly, someone who sees his heart.

I jumped when the fire alarms went off when I first watched Michael’s proposal I thought it was my house! Lol

“And this is where our love faces it’s toughest test, after this it’s just smooth sailing for the rest of our lives” That line gets me every time

Seeing Michael finally happy reminded me of seeing Ted Mosby finally happy. You seen them both go through so much emotional problems and endurance getting to that moment in their lives where they didn’t have to question if they picked the right person. Unfortunately for HIMYM robin was still the end goal and it ticked me off a bit because he still ended up being her safety school instead of her happily ever after.

Michael’s proposal makes me cry like a baby everytime. His whole character arc throughout Season 7 was just beautiful.

It was honestly a miracle that Michael was even able to land Holly. I guess there really is somebody for everybody. ☺️

You could tell by this time Michael’s personality and so on grew on them that they legitimately feel sad he’s leaving

I love Dwight’s and Jim’s is a great moment too but Michael wins hands down, his entire story arc feels like it was leading to him finally getting everything he ever wanted and deserved

Apparently the directors of michaels proposal wanted to do more takes of the scene, because they saw some imperfections. Steve Carell insisted those imperfections were what made the scene perfect, so they only did one take of this scene. It looks perfect to me, I’m glad they didn’t reshoot it
