Michael Penix Jr spins a ball like Mahomes, talks Michigan vs. Washington, Russell Wilson | THE HERD

Спорт

Brock Huard joins Colin Cowherd on The Herd fresh from attending a thrilling Sugar Bowl, where Michael Penix Jr. threw for 430 yards and completed two touchdown passes to deliver a win for the Washington Huskies. Huard tells Colin what Penix is so exciting, why there aren't many he would say could throw a football like him, and compares him to NFL quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Matthew Stafford... even so, Brock tells Colin that this Huskies team hasn't seen a team like the Michigan Wolverines, who he compares to the Baltimore Ravens in their tenacity and intensity. Watch as he shares his thoughts on what to expect from the College Football Championship. Plus, Huard tells Colin that Russell Wilson just isn't that guy anymore, and they discuss the struggles between him and Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton.

I like Penix better than Williams, I think Williams is going to be a bust, he’s great outside the pocket against college defenses. He doesn’t do well in the pocket. His stats will be way better than Vick and Young’s due to the nature of the modern game, so only super bowls will determine that, and those are a lot harder to get than most people ever acknowledge. Mahomes, Burrow, and others are gonna make that very very hard for many more years.. His career will depend on his coaches’ greatness or lack there of. Michigan players have seen something similar to an UW offensive attack, just not this season. Michigan played CJ Stroud led offense two seasons prior to this one. Not all current Michigan players played, but they are familiar with the scheme required to pay a high octane passing attack. OSU at one point had Garret Wilson, Chris Olive, and Jaxon Smith Njigba. Marvin Harrison was also on the roster, but of course, he was a young buck.

Brock started to allude to the heart of the matter -- Michigan hasn't faced a QB (or offense) remotely as talented as Penix. No defense has been able to pressure Penix and neither will Michigan. Michigan's strength of schedule is #49, Washington is #5. Harbaugh is stubborn. He will try and run the ball and dominate time of possession. If the Huskies can make McCarthy throw, they win this game going away.

OSU was not as good offensively this year compared to the last two, but UM has faced Stroud, Harrison JR, JSN, Garrett, Olave and EE and their RB's for three years and won. Penix slings it faster. Mahomes is going to have the better career because he is more athletic and dynamic, and has a HOF coach, and used to have great receivers, but Penix looks like he is the better passer

WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THAT EVEN EX DENVER PLAYERS STATE THAT SEATTLE TRADED AWAY THEIR LEMON TO DENVER BUT YOU ARGUES SEATTLE DID NOT GET ENOUGH FOR HIM. THAT IS SO BACKWARDS FROM THE ACTUAL REALITY. I REALLY DON'T GET IT.....

I LIKE COLIN - but this over- simplification of Russell and Sean being polar opposites in character leading to diaster needs to stop.. - From 5 years old in pre-school we meet all meet people who are not like us and a big part of life is getting on with with 'the chalk to our cheese' & recognising that 2 APPARENTLY CONTRADICTORY things can be true ... that chalk and cheese can be like 2 parallel lines that are never going to meet or can result in the best closest relationship ever. That Sean and Russell are supposedly opposite characters should for adults, not necessarily lead to an issue in itself; but not performing to the level that your boss wants to always will

Washington doesn't even have the type of coach that's meant to win natties. Natty winning teams have household name coaches, the best recruits, the most dominant season, and Washington doesn't have any of that while Michigan does. Washington is literally the type of team that's meant to be the sacrificial lamb for a team getting ready to roll them over to prove their greatness. They shouldn't even be there due to a couple of super lucky very close upset wins. The law and the rule of how this works says Washington loses. Guaranteed blowout loss for Washington. Mark my words.
