If pennix was 20-21 and had no injury history. He'd be a top 5 lock! However, he'll like be a late 1st/ early 2nd pick.

His delivery is what really stands out to me. Maybe because hes a lefty but looks compact and fast. Some of those deep throws looked like he was just flicking his wrist and easily hitting 40 yard passes.

Id love him on the raiders. They got weapons & a defense. Just need a qb that can get the ball to the playmakers

I think hes the sneakiest first rounder. I think hes sort of under the radar for how accomplished he is and he could very well out perform any of the top 3 because he could go later and land in a better situation. Im a Raider fan but I can see him w the Vikings

I really hope gets drafted to a team with at least a decent oline & he can be a successful pro. Not enough good qbs in the league

My problem is look at his pocket. He literally has no one around him most of the time. I'll admit i dont know Washington's OL but i do know Texas has DL tallent and they seemed to handle several nfl prospects. So if he is in the NFL where he doesn't have a clean pocket and 3-5 seconds to throw, is he the same player? Im not sure at this point.

A lot of people are so enamored with splash plays, but the most important is the reading the defense pre snap. That's what made Peyton so good.

QB needs in the NFL are widespread and deep. 10-14 teams need or want a QB rookie only have to look at last years draft and see the number of true 2nd and 3rd round QB's taken early so he will be a 1st round pick.

I just saw penix throw the ball 60 yards down the field in the semi final on a pass interference play. I think he can probably throw it farther but the trajectory on some of his passes isn't very high. He'd rather get it there quick than push it further out. Besides most NFL scouts look at the speed of the ball coming off the hands of the qb more so than how far you throw. There are more tight window throws than really deep ones. Most times 50 55 is good enough.

Have you read the University of Washington's biography on Penix? Penix has a 38"vertical which would have been second in the 2023 combine results for QB's and Penix can run a 4.64/40 yard dash which is faster than 80% of starting NFL QB's, only a handful of running QB's would be faster than he is. I would guess that because of his previous injury history Penix may be reluctant to leave the pocket. There are games where Penix goes through progressions beyond his first read. His performance in the National Championship was terrible throwing only a couple quality passes all night. it brings on the question of whether he was affected by the pressure of the big game.

Pressure and tight coverage were problems for him against Michigan and it showed maybe he is not as quick through progressions as people thought. He looked confused most of the game. He was 3 of 16 with 2 INTS on throws over 10 yards down the field. I still think he is a good QB and he could be a good NFL QB. One bad game doesn't make him a bad player.

I do think Michael Penix Jr is athletic. He shows decent speed and awareness as a runner. The issue is how he utilizes his athleticism, and it seems like he's scared to leave the pocket at some points. It's probably an effect of his injuries.

@@chasekellerjournalism I also feel that in the Michigan game he didn't trust his arm, I don't think he even attempted a tight window throw in the game. The strange thing is that he has a really good arm. Against Texas he was throwing ropes in between defenders. I'm not sure if it was the moment was too big or he just respected Michigan's defense more. I'm looking forward to the combine so the QBs can really be compared. I know the easy thing to do is compare numbers but with so many college football teams stats are almost useless.

I just think he needs to go into a good situation. Can be the best qb in draft if he has a good situation and line

I think he’s the best QB in the class. His pre-snap reads says a lot about how his game will translate to nfl. I know scouts like the flashy athleticism of players like Daniels, but reading defenses is critical. CJ stroud anyone?

Michigan was allowed to grab receivers 10 yards down field by SEC refs who just call the game that way. Any other conferences refs and the natty is a different game.
