I've been listening to Monroe's discography since my early teens, I'm 30 now, and many things have changed for me along the years in my life - my attitudes, political views, clothing style, taste in movies/TV, even my preference to music, but the music of Hanoi Rocks and Michael Monroe has persisted unwavered close to my heart through thick and thin. I've always loved the total mishmash of their style. Many people, in particular musicians themselves, often dislike the general aspiration of others to categorize art in boxes, but as somewhat of a music geek, I love the concept of genres. Having a good basic knowledge about various styles of music helps you sort out the original and different stuff from the common mass. Michael's bands have always had a very distinctive sound and image, which intrigued me from the start. They dressed like glam-rockers, but the music didn't correlate with the look. It's too heavy, rough and fast to be glam, it's too melodic and versatile to be punk, it's too light and colorful to be metal. Of course you can be lazy and put it under the general umbrella of rock'n'roll, but that contains everything from Elvis Presley to AC/DC. I doubt if anyone even reads this wall of text, but if you do, please tell me what do you think? The best combination term I've come up with to characterize Hanoi Rocks and Monroe would be glam-punk.

Yöllä taas mä menin parvekkeelle nukkumaan, Jotta lähempänä mua ois hän Pediltäni taivas näkyy, ryhdyin oottamaan, Että näen tähden lentävän Sanovat jos jossain huomaa tähdenlennon niin Toivoa voit'silloin mitä vaan Yöllä ylös taivaalle mä pyynnön kuiskasin Kävisipä pian tuulemaan Tuuli tuule sinne missä muruseni on Leiki hetki hänen hiuksillaan Kerro rakkauteni, kerro kuinka ikävöin Kerro, häntä ootan yhä vaan Tyyni oli eilen yö Mut kohta kuitenkin Tuuli henkäisi ja tuntee sain Joku liikkui lähelläni Koski poskeain Tutun käden tunsin ihollain Enkä enää epäillyt Vaan tiesin, että voin Niin kuin pieni lapsi nukahtaa Ilma jota hengitämme samaa ilmaa on Ja jalkojemme alla sama maa Tuuli tuule sinne missä muruseni on Leiki hetki hänen hiuksillaan Kerro rakkauteni, kerro kuinka ikävöin Kerro, häntä ootan yhä vaan
