Michael Masi Set for SHOCKING F1 Return?!

Спорт

As millions of new fans discovered Formula One for the first time in 2021, they were treated to the most competitive title race in the last decade. But when those fans saw the massively controversial ending of the title deciding final race of the season in Abu Dhabi, fury ensued. It was a massive embarrassment for Formula One and the decision made by Michael Masi at the end of the race cost him his job. Now though, there is a strong possibility of him returning to the sport. In today’s video I’ll talk about what the FIA have said about Masi’s shock return to Formula One.

21 "omg that evil race director let the race finish as a race, which was the official stance of the fia the entire season" 23 "ah, giving sainz a penalty on top of a dangerouns incident in las vegas was unfortunate but ok" People make a big deal out of abu dhabi 21, but we have a long history of inconsistent nonsense from race direction regardless which camp you are from. It also doesn't help the cause that Sky F1 has heavily biased commentary and "happens to be" also shoving drive to survive in people's faces, which is dramatized trash.

The 2021 final race, last lap was the most exciting lap of F1 ever!! Just proved how drastically things can change in a minute!! A first win for a racer or a record braking win for a another!! Imagine that cut-throat race finishing behind the safety car, bull sh*t! F1 would have lost fans in tons!Just that 1 minute has given passion to so many and a ton of content. Have seen so many new channels based on F1 all doing so good, just after that race!! Michal Masi has given the world an unending topic of discussion, hats off to him!

Masi's only mistake was not getting the lapped cars cleared soon enough, Had he done it a lap earlier (When Horner asked him about it) then the entire thing is Moot. In the end, he only had time to clear the relevant cars and that's what he did. Half a lap sooner and the exact some thing plays out and there's nothing to cry about. He made the right decision given the circumstances. Imagine a championship being decided under yellow.

No Masi's mistake was not applying the rules correctly. I you both had read and understood the 2021 regulations you would understand that Masi could not have got cars unlapped any sooner than he did. This is because there are rules surrounding the deployment and extraction of the safety car that are dependent of track condition triggering a series of protocols that dictate when things happen and must be followed in that order. Masi initially made the announcement that lapped cars would not overtake. That would have been a legitimate call within the rules that would have allowed the race to restart when it did. Max would have restarted in 2nd but with 5 lapped cars to pass to get to Hamilton. However Masi then decided to allow lapped cars to pass. (Whether that was from pressure from Horner and Red Bull or from Liberty Media we'll never know.) but not "Any" or "All" lapped cars to pass.Instead only allowing the cars between 1st and 2nd to unlap themselves. He then calls the safety car in on the same lap the lights go off and the safety car is in 2 corners later If you actually read the regs it is clear that in the context of the rule "Any" means "All" Masi's attempt at playing semantics was clearly his attempt to cover his ass under the circumstances. To demonstrate the difference think of a Jar off sweets If I say have you had "Any" I refer to an undisclosed amount between 1 and All of them in which case Any describes what ever has been taken. However If I Ask you Are there any left that refers to the entire contents of the jar although it's not a specific number the implied question refers to all sweets that are left in the jar. Therefore "Any" lapped cars refers to all cars that have been lapped not a selection of those cars that have been lapped. he also did not follow the safety car protocols concerning its return to the pits. In the rules it is clearly stated that. When the message Lapped cars may pass is sent to the SC and all teams "Any" means any that have been lapped or in simple terms "All lapped car" After the last car has unlapped there is a non determined period where the previously lapped cars are allowed to get far enough ahead so as not to interfere with the restart. ( which can mean catching up to the back of the queue behind the SC.) Once it is deemed the lapped cars are far enough ahead the message Safety car in message is sent to the SC and All teams. The SC then completes the lap it is on and returns to the pits on the next lap ( that's the rules) That didn't happen and that's why Mercedes were aggrieved. Their decision to not Pit Hamilton was based on the rules being followed as written in which case if all lapped cars were allowed to pass. The in lap of the safety car would be the final lap. The safety car would have pulled into the pits and the race would commence with no overtaking before the start finish line. Whereas if the lapped cars weren't allowed to overtake the safety car could be called in one lap earlier The race would restart with Hamilton bolting off with Verstappen Having to Pass 5 cars under Blue flags at the restart. by the time he cleared them in 1 or 2 corners Hamilton would have been too far ahead to have been caught even on his worn hard tyres. In Short Masi broke the rules and by doing so changed the outcome of the race result and therefore the result of the WDC. You can't blame Max, he simply did what he needed to do given an opportunity that shouldn't have existed if the rules were followed. But as an F1 fan (not a driver fanboy) I was left feeling cheated after watching a season of exiting racing between Max and Lewis the title was decided by someone who wasn't even driving. It's tantamount to a referee tossing a coin to decide which team to award a penalty to in the last minute of a world cup final. I makes a mockery of the competition and in 2021 mode a mockery of the entire season .

knowing the implications of the race results they should have red flagged the race after the first lap under yellow when they realised it would take more than 2-3 laps to clean up in the pit lane sort the cars out to the correct position allow fresh tires. then we would have 5-8 laps of intense racing between verstapin and hamilton. both would be on fresh softs and it would have been a more "fair" fight for the championship. yeah did that crash need a red flag via the rules no. but for the fan base the teams and the drivers i think that was the real best call to do. im no an lh fan or a mv fan. i actually like the underdogs like hass and i do really enjoy gasley's driving style on track its great to watch, and who can say they dont like riccardo. im sad with how the results ended up being souly due to the fact from my understanding how the rules where stated, the fia can pick and choose which cars can unlap themselfs its all or nothing. so with when masi decided to unlap the cars it should have still been under yellow which means lh would have gotten his 8th and final would championship. with the way the rb is now i dont think he will win again untill maybe the 26 reg change. but i also dont want to say max didnt earn it he drove like a real mosnter that season. it was great to watch. like i said no a fan of either just how i see the rules. but who am i just some rando on the internet. also side now Leclare needs to get out of ferrari, hes just cursed when it comes to the prancing horse. like it may be driver error but sometimes its not. like when he crashed on the formation lap the car litterally just died at probs the worst spot, not his fault. hes a good driver check quali pace. but the ferrari brand just doesnt like him.

With Masi being the understudy to Charlie, it is a shame that those years of Charlie’s knowledge are lost. You are right in what you say regarding the pressure of more racing, less safety car for that year, and that is why Masi did what he did. The crux of what happened is that Merc where outsmarted by a better team when pitted Max at the right time. If Merc had have done the same Lewis would have won. Unfortunately Merc fans don’t want to admit the bad Merc grid box decision. Masi should come back and put into practice the “Charlie” way, and would do a better job than the current ones.

Trash views. This is the definition of putting entertainment before sport. Of course I don’t want ANY race to end under red flag. However, interpreting the rules in a way we never have before, in order to attain this preferred ending was the shittiest, least honorable, and the most dishonest way to end up with the “preferred outcome” of NOT ending the race under a red flag. The FIA would have been less obvious if they hit Lewis with a late race 5 second time penalty for cutting the track in order to avoid contact with the divebombing Max.

Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys said relating to the NFL, bad news is good for business. I don’t doubt for a moment that F1/FIA was behind the decision Masi made for the final lap. It was definitely good for F1 financially. Masi was the scapegoat potentially, and it’s why he might be reinstated. I started watching F1 in 2019. I was influenced after watching the movie Grand Prix from the 60’s and then watching Drive to Survive. I grew tired of Lewis and Merc dominating and though I wasn’t a Max or Red Bull fan, was rooting for them or any driver/team to beat Merc every race. The final race of 2021 was one of the most exciting races I’d seen despite the controversy. Ultimately, Lewis benefited previously from another bigger F1 controversy in my opinion when he was wrongly awarded the championship after another team staged an accident. He was probably robbed of one in 2021. It equals out. Not sure if Masi should be reinstated because we don’t know the facts behind the decision he made.

If they had pitted and Red Bull didn't ( which they wouldn't have done) potentially Merc would have handed the title there and then to verstappen Mercedes made the correct call 100% based on the rules and the expectation that they would be applied correctly the only fact in this matter is that Masi didn't follow the rules as written which created a situation that that shouldn't have existed that then allowed Verstappen to be able to attack Hamilton on fresh rubber against Hamilton's 20 odd lap old hard tyres that were dead. Verstappen simply did what he needed to do given that opportunity. As would any driver that's any good in that situation

Lost the championship by his own screw ups in two earlier races , but what Masi did was definitely wrong by eliminating the 4 lap cars in front of Max, Lewis had to drive around them so why shouldn’t Max . How ever you see it the advantage went to Max due to Maui’s decision .

Michael Massey broke the rules by allowing the race to finish under green. The time taken for the laped cars to circle around the circuit to the back of the grid for an appropriate would have taken too long to be able to restart the race. The rule is that laped cars need to be on the lead lap at the back of the field before the green flag drops or alternatively he could have left the lapped cars where they were, in which case Max would have had to pass them and Lewis for the win. It was disgraceful considering how formula 1 seemingly holds rules and regulations above all.

Charlie knew how to let the cars race fairly. Massi manipulated the race to end in favour of his mate Christian horner. Sport is all about fairness even playing field. What I saw was the result being fixed in front of the whole world . Massi should never be let near f1.

Honestly, the ‘21 Abu race was the best race all year especially that dramatic last lap. I do believe it would have been more chaos to if the race ended under a safety car which if I recall right, Max was 8 points ahead on the race so it wouldn’t of mattered anyways if it did since he was in 2nd place and still would have won the title. But everyone wanted to see the final race not end under a safety car so the FIA made it happen and they change rules all the time. Reguardless, Twas a good season to watch.

They'd have claimed that the fans deserved an exciting finish. However in the real world, Max took the lead against a faster car on the day without the aid of DRS & they'll b!tch about it for the rest of time. Mmmmmmmmmm, 3 pointed silver tears. I like mine carbonated in a crystal tumbler with a shot of Jamesons. @KitchinMotorsports - It disturbs me that someone who claims to like motorsports so much they are part of his account name could get things so wrong. Max & Lulu were on equal points before the race, so whoever finished ahead won the championship. I'd love to know where your fantasy of an 8 point lead came from. Oh & good luck with your English lessons. You'll pick it up eventually.

Its disturbing the fact that someone who boasts about F1 knowledge has no clue on tire compound differences, degradation, and performance under difference temps/tyre age. The love of money is the root of all evil. if it’s all about money then it is NOT about real sport. 2..The disingenuous race finish was totally backed by the leadership of the FIA. One driver had new tyres the other did not how fair is that. It was a manufactured race won by devils in management. The love of money by leadership seemed as a pack of wolves. It was won by fraud from the FIA.

He allowed the race to end in a race not a safety car or red flag. My opinion which won't work because of fuel capacity is that they develop some type of over time deal like nascar. Allow everyone to pit and keep the grid position then come out for a green white checkered laps. Maybe at this pitstop they can fuel if needed to complete the overtime last two laps.
