There are so many. But maybe they were appreciated by the right people. Music should never be popular, it should be personal. Life has taught me that popular music is the wrong music. Too many people don't care about the art for popularity to be a measure of success in music.

I first saw this video when I was 12-13 years old. Then I realized that the world of music has only a few diamonds per billion stones, which you just need to look for. Since then, I began to be interested in that same indie world of music that no one cares about and discovered many genres, and began to write music myself. Returning to listening to a melody that you haven't heard for a decade - you return to the days of naive and carefree childhood. Magic. He is certainly a magician

One of the prettiest sounding performances I've ever heard. Bass harmonics are already very ethereal sounding. But Manring's use of the Hyperbass to emphasize and change the notes is like a pure shot right to the emotions of the listener. This is such a pretty, but tragic sounding track. Manring is a wizard on the bass.

Ok, any comment is personal, and this is also the beauty of you tube .. But here I am, a musician, I feel the universality of art. There is sound, feel, taste, musicality, intensity, pain, nostalgia and so on .... Nothing is missing. I'm sorry for those who still stops to unnecessary disquisitions on the instrument. The tool (called so for that matter) is only a means of expression is important is what comes out .. And what comes out here I really like.

bass is easy...sure it is. and when you master just playing it, you can remove all the frets, memorize precise harmonics and play in 3 different tunings at the same time. ya know...to make it a little tougher. ladies and gentleman i used to make basses, and if i might say i'm a hell of a bass player. and i'm watching this like...how...the fuck...does he get any of this right? zero marks, no frets, frigging detuning all 4 strings mid-play. this man is not a bassist, he's a damn wizard and there is clearly some Elvin magic happening.

The perception of most casual music enthusiasts/musicians is skewed toward the belief that bass is easy because their context is modern rock/pop music, where the bass serves a very important but basic barebones role. Nobody who wants to pick up bass so they can play Green Day covers in their buddy's garage is going to have heard of or even necessarily want to listen to Michael Manring. Turning the bass into a solo instrument the way he does is like making a full course dinner for 8 people with nothing but a spoon.

I know you just came here from Davie504. Go back if you want SLAPP, but do SLAPP like on this video NOW.

You should actually check out more videos from Michael Manring. It's a shame Davie reacted to a video without Slap, but Michael Manring can definitely slap 10x better than Davie504... At LEAST. Manring just does everything though, so this was a bad song to send him seeing as it has no slap. :( Try Helios?

This is unbelievable! Re-tuning like that flawlessly without losing the beat... he's probably an alien.

So cool to see Don Ross just sitting there, respecting his fellow musician. He could've been backstage, tuning and prepping or something. But instead he just stayed on stage and watched Micheal play.

Victor Shutov ... While it is wild seeing him on his hyperbass, I rarely watch now... The sound is so great it doesnt need your eyes.

Mike Harkins Me too, I actually don't like watching him. He looks cheesier than the way it sounds.

+supravista he he true! and the funny thing is that he's playing really easy melodies that you could easily play without all that struggling ;) and where is the composition in the end?

how can someone puts "thumb down" or "I don't like"? Magical waves, pure feelings, exellent tecnique...highest level of art in this performance. Schopenhauer would called it "Extasis", the higher level of purification of the spirit.
