I would add one more timeline which is one from the deleted scenes suggesting Batman retired because he accidentally killed a bad guy in front of his kid, which is why Bruce knew about time travel. It seems he researched it to try and fix that.

I haven’t seen anyone mention it yet, did you guys know there’s actually a 5th timeline other than the Catwoman movie, The Birds of Prey tv show is actually supposed to be in that universe too. In fact this one is interesting because it includes both Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. It doesn’t acknowledge how bad they were but makes reference to some of the villains and Robin. As well as a voice over live action Joker with Mark Hamill voicing him but not playing him.

actually, Michelle Pfeiffer's catwoman movie was in development since the 90's but it shift direction and she drop out of the project and it was in development hell for years before it got release on 2004. shit wasn't even about selina kyle shit about Patience Phillips and it's bad fan fiction with a plot about skin care products.😂😂 further backstory👇👇👇 Development With Warner Bros. developing Batman Forever in June 1993, a Catwoman spin-off film was announced. Michelle Pfeiffer was cast to reprise her role from Batman Returns, Tim Burton became attached as director, and producer Denise Di Novi and writer Daniel Waters also returned. In January 1994, Burton was unsure of his plans to direct Catwoman or an adaptation of "The Fall of the House of Usher". On June 16, 1995, Waters turned in his Catwoman script to Warner Bros., the same day Batman Forever was released. Burton was still being courted to direct. Waters joked that "turning it in the day Batman Forever opened may not have been my best logistical move, in that it's the celebration of the fun-for-the-whole-family Batman. Catwoman is definitely not a fun-for-the-whole-family script". In an August 1995 interview, Pfeiffer reiterated her interest in the spin-off but explained her priorities would be challenged as a mother and commitments to other projects. The film labored in development hell for years with Ashley Judd as the lead in 2001,but she eventually dropped out so Nicole Kidman was considered. When Warner Bros. canceled a Batman vs. Superman film scheduled for 2004, the studio decided to quickly produce Catwoman as replacement, starring Halle Berry. Berry chose to be involved with the film after the cancellation of Jinx, a James Bond spin-off featuring her character Giacinta "Jinx" Johnson from Die Another Day (2002). Josh Lucas was considered for the role of Tom Lone. now about Mark Hamill first off hamill joker is literally loosely based on Nicholson's joker in fact batman tas is inspired by burton's batman which was confirmed by bruce timm the creator of that show. and to go even further it even uses batman '89/returns theme for it's main theme for that show. shit has nothing to do with batman forever and batman and robin which btw came out years later. also to go even harder: Although none of the identities revealed in the comics for the The Joker ever gave him a full name, "Jack Napier" was used in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman and later utilized in the DCAU as well. In Dreams in Darkness, Dr. Bartholomew refers to him by that name, and in Joker's Wild, his name can be seen in a file about him. Either they or the Joker himself could have altered his file to show that he had operated under a variety of aliases. It is also possible that the Joker did indeed use a number of aliases, and that Jack Napier is simply his most commonly agreed-upon name. (from batman tas). and on top of that it was later confirmed joker's identity to be jack Napier when he used that persona in the batman: white knight comic books.

Affleck felt more or less the same when Bruce or Bats but had a great voice modulator. Pattinson didn’t have the same quality in voice and didn’t really embody the Bruce Wayne of the comics. Bale was also mumbling too much in order to be fully appreciated, Keaton did a good job trying to separate the Bruce/Batman persona but he was more weird than charismatic as Bruce. And Adam West is simply iconic but acted the same when Batman as when he was Bruce. Another honorable mention should be the Bruce Thomas played six Batman OnStar commercials airing from 2000 to 2002. 'Course those contained a vastly different Penguin, Joker, and Riddler which seem closer to the Adam West era (except Joker's face). Tho played by a yet again different actor, both Keaton's and Clooney's suits were used as well as the Keaton Batmobile installed with a handy OnStar button. They also featured the same Alfred (who actually continued to voice him in two radio dramas) and a recasted Vicki Vale played by a Baywatch actress. Apparently there was a two issue tie-in comic too. My favorite is the sixth commercial where Riddler shows up. They're all really short though.

I loved seeing Michael Keaton's Batman come back in the Batman 89 comic and the Flash. Great video and I remember in third grade my teacher gave me a newspaper article saying how it's about the third movie and I was stoked. I remember when I opened it up and because of the title Keaton quits Batman, my smile went to the biggest frown instantly and when I read what some of the stuff, the actors, and the characters that were going to be in Burton's third and final film and all of what was to become of it, I was super disappointed and upset that I didn't talk to anybody for the rest day, I didn't eat anything, I didn't do any of my classwork, I didn't participate in any class activities, and didn't go outside during any of the recesses. When they decided recently to retcon the Schumacher movies, and continue with the Burton universe with Batman 89 and the Flash until it got altered again at the end with Clooney lol, I was truly satisfied. I love how the 89 book looks almost like a storyboard, great character/ actor likenesses, and the settings / environment / scenery looks a lot like the 1989 movie with some Returns in there and being written by Sam Hamm in my opinion, excellent. Bat Keaton is alive and well back in his fully restored Tim Burton universe.

Fun fact: The REAL reason Batman retired in The Flash, is Batman accidentally killed a criminal in front of a kid. Traumatizing the child and making the kid afraid of Batman. Which is the complete opposite of what Bruce was intending to do with his persona. So this caused Bruce to stop being Batman entirely.

  • @Christian39521

Weird timeline indeed. Cause at the time, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin were intended to be sequels. Then for the Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover on The CW, they said that it was 2 separate continuities. Burton happened on Earth 89 which we saw in that. We see Knox. And Schumacher happened on Earth 97. Why is it Earth 97 and not Earth 95, who knows. But we got the comic book that confirmed that is a different continuity. And now with The Flash people say is the same version. Even though is not Earth 89. Is a different timeline and he looks like Keaton instead of looking like Affleck. I honestly think that he isn't. He's a variant. Is a similar version. And the problem with the comic is that Burton had nothing to do with that. Is the same writer of the first 2 films but supposedly his drafts were rewritten. So is hard to know what Burton's third film would've been like. Unless WB approaches him to maybe do an animated sequel. And there's also Catwoman that started as a Batman Returns spin-off but then it changed. And I believe the same thing happened with the Birds of Prey tv series on The WB.

You completely forgot about the canceled batgirl movie with Michael Keaton, which will inevitably be either released or leaked. It could take place at the end of several timelines. Also The Animated Series was a continuation of the Burtonverse, as it features a Two Face modeled after Billy Dee Williams, except that it retcons Joker and Penguin dying. Batman and Supergirl kept dying in the Flash, but when Flash gave up and went to reset the past so his mom dies, their deaths were reset too, so they really didn’t die.

One could also argue that "Batman: The Animate Series" was a de facto sequel to "Batman" (1989) and "Batman Returns." Not only do they use the Danny Elfman score from those films (over the end credits at least), but The Joker is identified as "Jack Napier" in one episode (a name which originated with the '89 film). Not to mention the look of The Penguin was at least partly inspired by DeVito's take on the character (the longer hair and the webbed hands).

Important to note that the Batman Returns suit does appear in The Flash so it's definitely canon to the alt timeline. It's also worth noting that another branch timeline of the Keaton films appeared for a few seconds in The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths. The only thing we know about it is that Alexander Knox from the 1989 film is still around and the Bat Symbol changed. Behind the scenes photos showed that Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle married after the events of Batman Returns and Derek Powers from Batman Begins is on the universe too. When Kilmer and Clooney's Batman movies came out it was so disheartnening; far worse than if no new Batman movies had come out. Who'd have thought we'd ever get to see him again? And done ( at least on Keaton's part) well and in character to his earlier movies. Cool video premise. Hopefully we will get one more timeline, a Keaton-centric Batman movie done well.

There's so much I like about it, such as it's story of the struggles of what it's like for Bruce to be both Bruce Wayne and Batman, and deal with the problems he faces as each. I also love Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face, Jones doesn't half-ass his roles, and this was no exception. Two-Face is my favorite Batman villain, and he was just so much fun to watch in the movie. I kinda ignore Batman and Robin and partly go along with "The Batman Trilogy" continuity as some call it, consisting of Batman, Batman Returns, & Batman Forever.

Batman Forever was actually the first of the live-action films I ever saw so I will always have a soft spot for it, but regardless of if you can even count it as being part of the same universe as Tim Burton's movies they're still my favorite Batman movies to go back to overall for the kind of style that Burton initially brought to the character that kind of got more lost in the reboots since then with their greater emphasis on realism.

I can’t reconcile Clooney, Kilmer, and Keaton as being the same continuity. I see them as the Burton verse, and Schumacher verse. And I’m gonna do an even hotter take than yours. I actually love Batman&Robin, and if you watch it as like a live action version of a kids cartoon, or as an homage to the 1960s tv series, it works. And while I do still like Batman returns I have to say that Matt Reeves, The Batman is my favorite depiction of both Batman and Gotham.

You forgot the show Birds of Prey which also appeared in cw's arrowheads crisis on infinite earths. In the first episode of birds of prey a news paper talks about Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle and the picture of Bruce Wayne is Micheal Keaton. So u can say this is a branch timeline or a parallel earth were things worked out between the two and they had a daughter which was huntress and tge main character of that series. Oddly, earth-89 appeared in the cw arrowverse with Alexander knox and the bat signal in the air so u can say batman, batman returns, then the arrow verse infinite crisis reset, the 89 comic and then the flash movie where we get the timeline reset. Long story short u can add those tge bird of prey and the arrow verse cameo on that list as well.

There’s another thing you missed. In the cancelled Batgirl movie, Keaton was gonna be Batman in it because the original ending for the Flash was gonna keep him as the new DCEU Batman. One of the leaked set photos for the film was of a weathered graffiti of Batman and Robin; but Robin was white, unlike the one from the Batman ‘89 comic, who I also should point out was named Drake Winston. Rumor was that the Robin in the graffiti was gonna be Dick Grayson and he was gonna have a cameo as Nightwing. So either the Batman ‘89 comic wasn’t canon to the Flash movie, Drake Winston left and Dick took over as Robin after him, or the plan was that Barry was gonna alter history again so that Dick was the first Robin instead of Drake. Either way. You could probably could’ve added the Batgirl movie to your list if the movie had been released.

The Marlon Wayans / Drake Winston Robin from Batman 89 / Batman 3 comic isn't canon to the Flash. The timeline that eventually ends up being the Flash happens sometime after Batman Returns and before the 89 book which causes that comic to be non-existent. That's why I think in that timeline Harvey didn't end up being two-face and helped cause Gotham to be cleaned up. The 89 book obviously only happens in the pure Tim Burton universe which obviously the Flash timeline doesn't exist. That's why when the Flash mostly reset things at the end, Keaton became alive and well and fully restored back in his full Burton universe.

They really managed to make this universe a true cluster mind mess. It was originally just a Burton story, then a Schumacker story, then back to Burton but in LEGO game and comic form, and now a DCEU story. In my opinion, Michael Keaton Batman would be the best if set in the same universe as Christopher Reeve Superman, as well as Linda Carter Wonder Woman. They formed the Justice League with their own Barry Allen as Flash, Arthur Curry as Aquaman and Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. They could have Superman have died by the hands of Doomsday, to match the actor's sad demise and retire the Justice League members, maybe leaving Supergirl to be the new leader, and I mean the original blonde Supergirl from the old movie, not the new brunette one from 'The Flash'. It would be awesome to have a final Tim Burton Batman movie showing this retired Bruce, living with Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman, and training Robin on his last nights as the dark knight.

Just got done watching Flash... I grew up watching Keatons Batman movies almost every other day for my entire childhood, I think i've watched them each over 1,000 times easily... loved Batman TAS nearly just as much, and Adam West too, but Keatons Batman was everything to me, I also completely agree Returns is the BEST Batman film, Michelle Pfiefer deserved an Oscar, and Danny Devito is insanely underrated, I think both should've been nominated honestly.. I also love Batman Forever.... despite Two-Face being ridiculous lmfao (so bad he's good kind of thing) and other things like colorful spotlights throwing up all over Gotham, weird biker gangs, nipples, campy corniness, etc.... but Kilmer is a great Batman/Bruce Wayne, Chris O'Donnell Steals the film, and Jim Carrey killed it imo, but that's about it... Batman and Robin is a guilty pleasure... Like drink everytime Arnie does a cold pun lmfao.. and I just love laughing at how bad Clooney is as both Bruce, and BAtman... "hey freeze, i'm batman" (while smiling, and not being intimidating at all, just being Clooney)... That being said I've always saw Batman, and Batman returns as their own universe, even as a kid in the 90's.. Batman forever is a loose sequel, but lets be real.. its a reboot. Just like Edward Nortons Hulk is to Eric Bana.. you CAN watch it as a sequel... but it's not. Batman/Batman Returns (Burtons Batman universe) Batman Forever/Batman & Robin (Shumachers Batman universe) Flash is NOT my sequel to Returns either, just an alternate Keaton Batman apart from Burtons (Personal Canon)... Great video touching on all of this.. was waiting to see someone do it... subbed. 👍🏼
