A God given talent we had with Michael Johns and I wish God hadn't taken him back so soon you could tell he really loved what he was doing.

Rip Michael Johns you are missed by everyone God bless your family and friends and anyone who loved you!

When a man as talented as David Foster says you are destined for greatness that's saying something about the person we lost a very talented man when Michael Johns died.

John's has owned this performance...hats off to David Foster for the uplifting, melodic, soulful music too.

A golden voice with an amazing voice. What a shame.

Better than the originals of both songs.

I certainly agree. He has the burning emotion in this, sadly though, gone too soon.

I shed a tear every time he sings "just once in his life a man has his time...and my time is now!" RIP Michael, you would've been a star. Loved his voice and his performances on idol.

I've been so heartbroken since I heard the news of Michael's passing. So terribly sad. I was a fan the moment I heard his voice and I was an even bigger fan when I learned what an incredibly nice young man he was. There must be some truth to "only the good die young" because he was young and he was so good. Heaven was blessed on August 1st, 2014 and he will live on for as long as all those who loved him remember him. Rest in eternal peace, Michael. May your family be comforted in knowing you were loved. Your life was well lived.

David Foster and Friends is my all time favorite musical performance. BUT, of all the fantastically amazing artists, Michael Johns is my favorite. So sorry to hear of his passing a number of years ago. Thank you David Foster!

Such a nice talented guy. What a voice! This performance was perfect. Michael I was such a fan! I am so heartbroken such a tragedy happened to someone like you. Life really is short. Great person, great talent. Major loss. I had hoped to listen to him for decades. His performances on Idol were beyond amazing.

This is kinda crazy, but so many years after Idol and his passing I still listen to him on youtube when I can. Such a loss, such a talent. Only contestant I EVER voted for.

One of the best performances on that David Foster DVD. Loved it!

Michael was my (and still is) my Adam Lambert of last season. I love Michael's voice. A true talent. Can't wait to see what he will do in the future! go Michael!

6 years since his sudden and sad passing. Such a talent from my town Perth Western Australia.

I'm so proud for Michael.:) He sounds AWESOME with that big orchestra behind him! I've almost worn my DVD out watching this over and over! A star is born...and YES, he IS good-looking!:)

I remember watching this and being impressed, and really liking the song for the first time, since I think this version may be better than the original, but anyway. It was a bit of nostalgia for the song. It's not an easy song to sing. What a shame M Johns is no longer around.

I don't know a lot about auto-tune and I'm no expert either, but I've seen Michael live many, many times from large stages, to small venues, to pulling up a stool and singing along with his guitar in a record store and I know for sure he doesn't need auto-tune. He has an amazing voice and I love to listen to him sing live. It's one of the many reasons I'm such a fan of his - he is the real thing- he doesn't need that kind of help. He gets around so I'm sure you'll have a chance to see him live.

Michael Johns continues to impress. I love it when he steps up the energy like he does in this performance.

Not sure what the auto tune comment means. This is a live performance. I heard him perform this song myself last month on the David Foster tour and he was amazing! And I've heard Michael perform in person many other times. Believe me, Michael doesn't need auto tune and is one singer who's live performances are usually better than his studio recordings.

Buy the Blue Ray or DVD concert. The best live performances I'ver ever seen. And I listen to everything from Rush, Opeth to Celine Dion. And Michael John's making the best version of Man in Motion ever made!

He's awesome! ! David Cook was awesome. I'm so glad that David cook American Idol. SOmeone from NBC was at my job in Austin,Texas. I started talking about American Idol. He asked who did I want to win. I said, David Cook. That was towards the end of American Idol, it was David A. and David Cook, were the finals. Loved how David changed the songs, esp that Lionel Richie song. Now, where is David now?? Been looking for his CDs.??? come on David, don't throw good talent away, my sweet friend!

She's a beauty was originally done by Fee Waybill of The Tubes fame from the bay area in the 70's. David Foster was the producer for the Tubes for 2 albums.
