Chorus:
I said you want to be starting something
You got to be starting something
I said you want to be starting something
You got to be starting something
It's too high to get over (yeah, yeah)
You're too low to get under (yeah, yeah)
You're stuck in the middle (yeah, yeah)
And the pain is thunder (yeah, yeah)
It's too high to get over (yeah, yeah)

He was found not guilty. Accusations and lies over a decade after his death simply do not hold any standing when the accused is dead and can no longer defend themselves. Absolutely no one can change my mind - he was innocent. And he was and is one of the greatest musicians of ALL TIME

To be honest, I think the lyrics in this song are very underrated. It speaks about people starting rumors with no apparent reason, just for the sake of starting something. It shows the pressure that scrutiny can lay upon you. ''You're a vegetable'' because they'll get you and eat you with their stories and rumours. In the end, what matters is that you know yourself (''I know I am someone, and let the truth unfurl'') and that's enough for you to believe in yourself (''yes I believe in me, so you believe in you''). There are people that say that the lyrics in this song are non-sensical and/or silly, I find them to be very insightful and deep tbh. This song is one of my favourite Michael Jackson songs ever.

That makes sense, and this song connects to Billie Jean, He first describes Billie as a girl that spends most of her time gossiping, spreading truths and lies to her convinience, then he talks about a girl who is having a babie while having no way to feed the baby thus needing to lie and cheat to feed the baby, this isnt a stable solution so the baby is "Slowly dying". This "girl" is definetly Billie as she meets all of the qualities as described in this song and in "Billie Jean" Man micheal must have had a big trauma about a girl like that

God. I remember I used to listen to the Thriller album on my way to piano lessons as a kid in 1983. I couldn't WAIT to hear this song, it's completely awesome! I used to ask my dad to turn it up full blast on the car stereo. I know, sounds like I was privileged, I wasn't. We were working class but my mum wanted me to develop a love for music. It worked. Love MJ!!!
I’ve listened to this 100s of times and this is the day I got the message !! Michael is an angel 💫🫶🏼 be yourself! Let nobody put you down ! Don’t let anybody tell you something you’re not !! Save it for those people with problems!! Who keep wanting them !! Tell em !!!
NOBODY moved like Michael. He hired the best dancers on earth and THEY couldn’t move like him. MJ, thanks for being here and sharing yourself with us. We didn’t deserve you, but we needed you.

MJ and Quincy Jones were one of the best musical teams since the beginning of time. The production quality on this track is on another level. The instrumentals and background vocals come across crisp and clear, it’s got simplicity and complexity. It’s funky but also dreamy. They had such a clear vision and executed.
