    Just to clear up, for the video, cables and harness systems were used for the lean but in live performances Michael patented a system in the 90's which allowed bolts to come up from underneath the stage to hold the shoes down whilst the lean was performed then retract back into the floor once the move was completed.

    Here’s an interesting fact: Jackson’s familiar refrain of “Annie, are you OK?” carries more meaning than just the narrator asking a question. The line is inspired by Resusci Anne, the name of the model of doll used to teach CPR. Jackson combined the question trainees learn to ask, “are you OK?” with the name of the doll to create the iconic line.

    Michael was a genius and not just musically. He understood the new world of music videos and used it not just as something to look at while listening. He made it a coherent whole, telling the story of the song with sight and sound and dance and just utter creativity. You originally thought MJ was just scatting? I thought he was singing Annie are you walking? 😆 Terrific video! Thank you Trixie. And super great reaction, Maggie! 🕺🏽

    This is also only a small portion of a longer video. The full video is over 15 minutes long and tells a small story. You should find the full length video when you can. You can find the diagram and patent on the shoes they were using where the heal hooks into an anchor (nail) in the floor to be able to lean and then unhook at will making a smooth transition. He's used this in live performances as well thus disproving the "cable" theory.

    The lean was done with special shoes that have a v notched into the heal. They slide the heal into a v that is screwed to the floor. The v in the floor holds the shoes to the floor. They are not nailed. And ofcourse michael and his dancers were in excellent physical condition to perform the stunt.

    If you had seen this performed at one of his live shows you would know that the lean was not done with cables. It had to do with the shoes attaching to something of the stage floor. The trick was that he and his dancers could attach and detach instantly. It was not obvious to the audience that this was taking place.

    When the window breaks and everything goes weird? Ever since I was a kid, I would always like to think that the Magic fills the club with MJ. When the window broke all the Magic left. But MJ can produce the magic and they beg him to do it. He opens his arms and the chord plays, then he agrees (nodding) and then everything starts to get reanimated and BOOM. Magic time.....yeah, I saw the whole movie Moonwalker more than a few times when I was a kid. This whole video is a short piece of a short film at the end of it. MJ's getting hunted by people who want to addict the kids to drugs. Then he turns into a robot, kills the bad guys, turns into a spaceship, and leaves. Yeah, that happens. I used to LOVE that movie. I am unashamed. PS: Watching the subtitles try to keep up with MJ's awesomeness was beautiful. Maggie, you're a treasure!

    @melaniemagdalene1616 I do know the term wacko jacko...I was born and raised in the 70's! And before you start spouting "going off on tirades!" I never used the term wacko did I? No I don't believe I did. And even if I did you do realise you can have the utmost respect for someone and still make fun of them, where I come from its called ribbing, in other parts of the world its called banter. As said I was born in the 70's, I listened to Michael Jackson both solo and as part of the Jackson 5. I loved every song he released because I respected him as an artist. What he did in his private life was just that....private and didn't deter me in the slightest as to his quality of music. He is still (postumously) one of thr best artists in the world. Does that mean I can't poke fun at him?(i didn't but you are free to speculate in your own weird way!) Yes I can. Is it disrespectful? No, because for some that is how they show their respect. If you cannot have broad shoulders in life, then don't put yourself out there. Rantful tirade over!

    Michael Jackson has a US patent on a shoe device. It allows the shoe to slide into a lock fitting on the floor, then the performer has to have the strength to lean over and pull themselves straight, then slide out of the lock.

    The movie is called Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker. I think it was from 1988 at the height of his bad album.

    You should watch the whole movie, Moonwalker. As its all music video type of thing it can be a bit difficult to follow the story, so to speak, but still worth a watch.

    ❤A bit of news-Mike always wanted to act, create/write & produce movies. He tried to buy Marvel to no avail but hired a movie maker in 2008 to teach him+ 3 kids, then A.E.G.entered his world & was abused by his doctor & passed on in 2009. His dtr. Paris is an actress/model/singer, son Prince continues MJ’s legacy with a charity ‘Heal L.A. Foundation’, & young son Bigi won BEST DIRECTOR(APR 2024) SHORT FILM at the Santa Monica Film festival. I am certain Michael is proud of all three of his children ❤Rest In Peace Michael❤

    In the Smooth Criminal music video they used wires. When performed live on stage it was shoes with special hooks into the stage with Anti-Gravity machines.

    Notice that when they do the inclination and return back they slide one foot first and then the other...that is to remove the nails that were in the buried floor that the sole of the shoes grabbed

  • @paulayala6174
    @paulayala61742 ай бұрын

    No, cables were not used at all for "the lean". Michael Jackson actually holds a patent for special shoes designed with a hooking mechanism under the heal. Nails pertrude from the floor and the dancers simply slide their feet forward to hook the heads of the nails into their heal. This anchors them so they can lean as far forward as possible without falling. When back upright, they simply slide their feet back to unhook themselves, then the nails are retracted back into the floor. This effect was also performed live on stage throughout his concert tours and even broadcast live on televised performances (such as his Live in Bucharest concert that was aired on HBO back in the 90's and is now available on KZread). However, even with this technology employed, the move is still very straining and painful on their backs, and there have been instances where it failed to work perfectly. So in the end, it's still an amazing feat for a dancer to pull off.

    The lean was a secret for more than 20 years. They were special shoes that hooked into the floor. No one knew when it was performed at the SuperBowl either.

    Michael Jackson literally invented a device to pop through the floor and the shoes fit on this thing and they can lean . I don't know if it was used in just the video it may have been just at concerts but MJ had a patient and everything .

    So what was Jackson's secret? The special shoes. There is even a 1993 patent filed, among others, by Jackson himself, according to which these shoes were equipped with a heel slot specially designed to slide the foot forward.
