Michael Hutchence The Last (True) Rock Star! (Part 1)

INXS and Michael Hutchence. I was a fan in my early teenage years before the best album produced by INXS, KICK, which came out in the Fall of 1987....I wore my Listen Like Thieves concert shirt proudly...I am not the owner of this video, and therefore take no credit for it's contents. I am a fan of INXS and Michael Hutchence. Therefore, I am promoting this video of his life proudly!

Loved this! I was so lucky to call Michael my friend. On a chance flight to Sydney we met. I was later invited to Rhinoceros to watch him and the band record "KICK" even his brother, I got to know. 39 years in Movies, and Entertanment and I can easily say, the best person I have EVER known !!

I'll also tell you, not to be weird in any way. I have gotten a vibe about 2 months ago that Michael was appreciating the attention this video is getting. I don't idolize people, or demigod them. Never have, never will! So for me to appreciate your talents is somewhat rare. I just got this feeling out of the blue about two months or so ago that he's happy about this? I fought You Tube tooth and nail to keep this video up, which they took down 3 or 4 times...

That has to be amazing to be able to say you knew him and was a friend. My conscious introduction to INXS was when 'Kick' came out in 1987, when I was around 7 years old (that album became a controversy/legend in my household during 1987 - '88...but that's a story for a different time and place haha)! But that album heavily influenced me as a kid, both musically and visually. It was that iconic album cover for 'Kick' that started my obsession w/black leather motorcycle jackets LOL

@@amc8118 I was 23, funny thing is when I first met him, I saw them live in Vancouver months earlier, He saw I was wearing a film shirt, I later went on to work for 30 years on feature films. I asked him what he did, he said he was a singer I said cool for what band You can imagine I freaked out inside, but I thought he might be an Australian pulling my leg lol. I had to go to the record store and see his picture and name. Sure enough 2 months later I was invited down.

I am an Aussie & will ALWAYS recognise Michael and the band as our best export (imo). Michael was special on another level...an epic performer, super talented song-writer...and an amazing deep caring soul. It pains me to read that he didn't think so. How wrong he was. Have always been a huge fan of Michael..and the band. His voice, presence, just couldn’t be beat. Like many, I felt robbed when he was taken so young…yet overtime I’ve realized he lived life at its fullest…often on the edge, and I’m not sure he was built to get old…that seemed to be the cost of his talents….I’m not sure his music would have as much power w/out that part of his personality which bleed into it. Very few (i.e. Bono) maintain their position, remaining on top of the world at their craft…and in a way, largely what made Hutchence so great WAS that edge, that passion…that electricity and power…and unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to last. RIP to one of the best live performers (w/a live voice equal to his recording voice), and grateful we have his bands music whenever we want it. Now they just need to be inducted into the HOF…so that they get that well deserved recognition…I’m sure they will…just hurry up already!

Always loved INXS and Hutch. For the past 2 months I have been watching every video, movie, show and documentary on Michael. It’s boarding on obsession (slightly). He was so beautiful, intelligent, gifted singer/songwriter. Never knew about his brain damage and depression. I will not let that taint my view of his memory. I picture him with wings, an angel singing now in Heaven.

So sad what he went through in the end. According to the coroner's research, just a month b2, he renewed his prozac & was seeing his therapist, right after Duran Duran released that horrible song "Michael you have a lot to answer for", on Oct 14th. Duran back then told the press they thought it was because they thought Michael shouldn't want to be with Paula - even though she and Bob had an open relationship and Bob had long moved on to long time gf Jeanne - then after he died said it was a fan song?! They actually sing that he should stop wanting to be!! Later, they tried to say it was about drugs - I guess hoping no one has the old articles where they slander Michael mercilessly in the press.

You can see Michael's old home on Rightmove Price History 48 Smith Terrace, Chelsea. Michael worked with an Australian architect on the home and although its been extensively renovated since his passing, it has the original glass ceiling family room that Michael helped design. The home is also discussed on the freelibrary cite, "Court in a rat trap, what Paula says". Its the article from when Michael was dragged into the court case by providing Bob and his girlfriend with a home (rent free) to get Bob to give Paula her house back so she could sell it. Bob claimed he had no where to go and was furious that Michael was "interfering" and Paula said Bob wanted her on the street. Later, when Paula sold the Redburn home and needed to go to Smith Terrace home, Bob continued to say he was broke so Michael GAVE him his expensive Cheyne Condo.

Well, Paula set up the paparazzi in the restaurant he spoke of here, I read it in a book of one of Paula's friends, she then uses that as playing the victim, & I'm a psychologist & read all of her behavior with him, it's classic narcissistic behavior. That's the "she challenged him mentally" they spoke of, because that's how he perceived it. It was Paula that manipulated the press by calling them & put her own children in danger by doing so, that is so narcissistic to sacrifice your children to get what you want. Then she turned Michael against Bob, by saying he wouldn't pay child support, etc further torturing poor Michael while she played the victim. She manipulated him from the beginning. His previous girlfiends were younger & he wouldn't dream a woman who claimed to love him would manipulate him in such horrible ways, none of them would call the press & tell them where they were eating. She really drove him crazy at every turn. I wouldn't feel too sorry for her, she contributed to his death without meaning to. She also drove a wedge between him & his Mother, & refused to let them see Tiger. She is the reason Bob got custody of Tiger, she made him promise Michael's parents would never see her. Better Bob have custody since her sisters were all she had left of family, she knew, but not allowing Michael's parents to see her was just CRUEL. And Bob was just carrying out her last wishes (he really grieved over her, in spite of her leaving him so publically, which if she hadn't made it public things wouldn't have played out like they did, they wouldn't have stayed together. OD ing with Tiger in the house at such a young age, & on Peaches Birthday, who later died the same way, was the ultimate in selfish!! Narcissist's have no empathy & exploit other people, which you can see she did at every turn. I'm sure he wanted a baby, but it wouldn't have been with her if she hadn't created all this confusion (cognitive dissonance) in him. He could have had a baby with anyone in the world. She also broke the news of them being together by calling the paparazzi to break up him & Helena, turning an affair into a relationship by getting him all worked up. I wouldn't say she was on the far end of narcissism, but she was obsessed with him more than she actually LOVED him, & didn't care how much she hurt him as long as she got to keep him in the end. Much Love

Diamond was later found out to be a complete fraud who ripped off many (see The Paradise Papers). She makes freinds with Diamond and suddenly goes being furious about the sex game death theory and blaming Bob for Michael's suicide, TO agreeing with the fake, sex game death theory the press were pushing, and then - all her debt's are paid off and she buys two homes (Hastings and london). Note that Michael's mom and sister were the ONLY people to contest the will because they got nothing, and also the ONLY People to refuse to smear Michael name with the sex game theory. Instead Tina & his mom reminded people that the coroner said it was definitely suicide - no controversy. Paula changed her theory on Michael's death after Tina and His Mom told the press Michael had a new girlfriend named Erin that he'd been seeing for months and was planning to leave Paula after she took the job she "said" she had lined up in Australia & getting her settled. So she was probably mad at them. Especially as she was trying to convince the world Michael was going to marry her. I recall Paula was horrible to them in the press. Her change of story was also after Geldof took the kids because she had a suicide attempt and a rumor was she had to stop blaming Bob for driving Michael to suicide because it was slander and upsetting the children.

The look on that girl's face in the beginning says it ALL! Like Elvis & Jim Morrison, Michael's sexual magnetism was innate, and his voice reflected all those beautiful things within him, raw, edgy, soulful & sensual. Every move he made on stage was mesmerizing and oh soooo hot. The man had rhythm unlike any other man I have ever seen onstage. Hot is an understatement! Michael just had it all!!! The tone of his voice is simply amazing and I know he would have made more amazing music through the decades. Noel Gallagher was a total AHOLE to say what he said and clearly just a JEALOUS freak! If he is still alive one would never know it! Even in death, Michael OUTSHINES him and that light will never go out!!! Michael IS the LAST TRUE ROCK STAR!

Don't think I'd be jumping any fences to get backstage though. Not my style, lol. In 1988 I was 24 (giving away my age now haha) and a singer also. I was also sooo infatuated with this man, not just because he was so damn hot & talented but because I knew that he was rare and special. I have many greats in my music collection, crossing all genre's, but I can honestly say that there are only a very few who have what Elvis, Morrison & Hutchence have. Billy Idol has it as well. My favorite however, is always Michael! P.S/ Thank you so much for uploading this. It is an amazing chronicle of an amazing man!

I love x and the albums prior to kick, but as far as the public at large the time at the top was short lived. no other band sounds like inxs

Not putting the blame on Helena here but he suffered the head injury in Helena’s hometown Copenhagen. There’s a lot of blame being put on Paula and I think that’s unfair. Michael was a grown man who had a lot of girlfriends over the years and he didn’t always end things with them respectfully. He wasn’t perfect but then who is. I think that the head injury was the start of many bad things for him. Bless him and bless Paula too.

Binge watching INXS, starting with this documentary on Michael. I grew up with INXS and lost track of them after Michael died. No replacing him and the band just lost it's electrifying presence and life force. So many greats gone too soon. Extremely talented, live hard, die hard - they cannot seem to temper their intensity, it consumes them, and the world is too much for them. This is one of the best rock n roll bands of all time. Could loop their songs all day long. The great rock n roll classics have never been bested, Aerosmith, the Stones, Def Leppard, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, ... so many others, and INXS, of course. In her statement she stated Michael was so agitated and worried that at one point Kell put his hand on Michaels and ask if he was okay. It was uncomfortable how much personal info he was selling of his son to the press, and much of it sounded exaggerated. I've an old article where he opened a package he received from Michael's Hong Kong apartment for a magazine and then showed off all of Michael's personal items.

Tiger and Paula got money. The only people he lied to about the money, were his sister and mom. Paula made Diamond Tiger's godfather and the homes Paula bought with Michael's money, were sold when she passed, so that and her money would have gone to Tiger. I imagine Tiger doesn't want people to know - hard enough growing up with everyone wondering where your money is and how much.

Nothing was stolen. Paula got money from his estate to buy her house & pay off her debt as Colin talked about helping her right after Michael died. Bob would have gotten the homes when Paula died and sold them. He'd have more than enough to take care of Tiger and she'd still be a millionaire as an adult. Also, Tiger lily thanks the Diamond grandkids on her online album so she's friends with the Diamonds, so I doubt the story that they "ripped her off" As Tina Hutchence found out, the assets in the holding companies were quickly moved to various people's names, including one property in Australia that added Michael's dad as part owner (along with Diamond's wife and kids), right after Michael died. The estate moved the ownership to make it look like the estate had nothing, including saying the cash portion was required for bills for the properties that were moved to other beneficiaries. So if Tiger says her money came from an estate - even indirectly - they'd owe estate taxes. Its all legal and it meant that Diamond could bypass whatever the will said because holding companies are not subject to a person's will where its equity held by another person.
