Doc Stewart hilliard said Michael is without peer, and that is a strong statement for the head of the USA military breeding program

It’s neat to hear about his early years of dog training. I remember back in the 90s when I was about 16 years old reading the Leerburg website articles in my beginning years of learning how to train dogs. Michael is a wealth of knowledge. I’ve never met him in person but hope to someday. Thanks for doing this interview! Edited: typo

Interesting to see how we have transitioned from treats to corrections. It's expected. Also your sensor or humour in impeccable, you manage to make me laugh in every onenof your videos. What age and when do you start using a prong? Ecollars? I was thinking of combining a slip lead snd treats for my lil guy 8 1/2.

REALLY enjoyed this interview, Nick! A couple of my favorite books on teaching are The Talent Code by Coyle, and What the Best College Teachers Do by Bain. A lot of the teaching discussion reminded me of these books.

Michael Ellis is amazing. Definitely one of my favourite trainers to listen to. His view on in breeding is the first time Ive listened to something he says that he seems wrong about. Some of the recessive genes could be there and the dog could be bred before the a disease shows up later in life. Realistically one person is not going to control a whole breeding program either. Continuous close in breeding is shown to have a negative effect on the health and resilience of animals.

Show me a finished dog?!! Everyone has to train and keep training 👀don't they call that refreshing 😂in the sport world 🌎🌍 Sport is not personal protection, no reason why sport trainers would advertise that other than money goal 🤔 If you're not a personal protection/ defense trainer you don't know personal protection. If you say you do your teaching are backed by police, military, and sports. A sport dog can't be reactive and a defense/personal protection dogs should be based on space/approximatey. Most books and his teachings are breed based as well (gsd/mals).

@@Hogdawg1911 all his information came from books based on police, military and shutzhund/sport. The dogs gsd, mals and herders. Personal protection is based on what?
