Basically the 2000s were the golden age of TV: Sopranos, The Shield, Prison Break, The Wire, Breaking bad, OC, Boston Legal, 24, etc. The programs you get these days suck with perhaps Evil being the only exception

@FinnishMafioso Chiklis also dedicated himself into getting much better shape right before he got cast in The Shield. He got tired getting cast in the type of roles he was getting. So with being in mcuh better shape and shaving his head he ended up making himself looking at least semi younger looking.

The Commish in any guise always compelled us to turn the tv off. The worst, Jerry. The worst. Actually haven't watch TV in years. Pure crap for imbeciles.

Crazy that Chiklis was 28 here. Oldest 28-year old I have ever seen. I'm the same age and he legit looks like he could be my dad. I'm guessing the baldness, pudginess and banker suit don't exactly help.

Somebody watched this and said "I want *him* to be the badass, take-no-bullshit dirty cop on my really dark show about gang violence and police brutality". And it worked out amazingly.

Chiklis basically had to reinvent himself to get The Shield role. He had to get himself in shape and shave his head.

Arthur Jackson hired a private investigator to get the address of Theresa Saldana and when he showed up. Arthur stabbed her 9 times but she survived. Arthur served life in prison. It was true.

Jason Matthew You know it's funny you mention that. When I first started to watch the Shield, it was probably 2010 or so, I watched it after it ended when I was in college. I remember I told my Dad about how he should check it out and he asked me about it and I told him that it stared Chiklis and his response was "The guy from the Commish?" and unfortunately I think that made him not want to check out The Shield. I am guilty of the same thing b/c when Breaking Bad was first on and I saw Bryan Cranston was the main character I thought "Wait, the dad from Malcolm in middle?" Fortunately I got bored one night and started on breaking bad and it was one of the best decisions I ever made along with watching The Shield :)

This was one of my very first episodes of Seinfeld, and I remember that "Jerry.. Baby!!" just taking me out lmao.. So spooky!

Did you see him as John Belushi in Wired,lousy movie but for a first timer Chiklis was awesome as Belushi.

I heard to this day that she's still standing in the apartment waiting for someone to give her the rest of her money.

Hard to believe he played John Belushi two years before

He was 26-27 in it. This episode was originally filmed in 1990 and was suppose to be for Season 2. I’m 27 and he looks old enough to be my dad lol

I guess he had another show, but I never watched it, and I never really cared for him. I thought his name was Michael Chiclets.

The Commish, The Shield, Gotham... so many great shows Chiklis has been in. Pee-Wee Herman and Donal Logue would've been great on Seinfeld as well, never happened though.

It's funny b/c those are two completely different cop shows and Vic Mackey and Tony Scali are night and day when it comes to cops too. Also idk when this episode of Seinfeld aired but Michael Chiklis may have been the Commish already when this was on tv.

The impertinence of someone dropping by your apartment with no notice and expecting them to drop everything and hang out with you ... GEEZ. Plus, isn't it weird that Jerry allowed this guy (someone he barely knows) to hang out in his apartment alone? Idk just seemed strange to me.

Well this was in an era of where most people didn't have cell phones. Chiklis' character probably didn't even know Jerry's phone number to be able to call him from a payphone. To be fair he was going over to his apartment after what is probably 7 PM, he probably just assumed Jerry would be ome for the rest of the night. 'But the real question is how did he know where Jerry lived if they were just acquaintances and how did he get buzzed into Jerry's apartment building?

The Commish to the Shield. Insane.
