A great player. I’ve read most players autobiographies from 90’s and 2000’s all clubs im man United and Carrick was a classy player. My sister was a waitress in Alderney edge at a restaurant she said out of everyone all the stars that went there she said Carrick the nicest. X.

absolutely agreed.. I understand there was competition from the 'GOLDEN GENERATION' ... but 34 appearences in 14 years is a tragedy... He deserved so much more ... The current england squad would be dying for a player like carra now .. Some who likes to slip under the radar, calm in possession and links up def and attack beautifully... He was criminally overlooked.

Michael Carrick one of the most underrated players of England.... He was not some one like Scholes who would run haphazardly after the ball He was quite he was serene in a way He was not ferocious like Roy Keane ... You wouldnt see him much in a game... But yeah he knew how to dictate the game he was bought when we were in the trophy drought & in the first season itself he showed us what he can do... Thank you sir for being in the United family... You earned a place in our Heart.... YOU WILL BE MISSED....

When you think about it, England have under-utilised or overlooked so many extremely talented players over the last 30 years or so. Scholes only played for England 66 times, Carrick 34, and then you have players like Hoddle and Le Tissier, and even Gascoigne, to a certain extent. And there are many more examples, including Sheringham with 51, and Beardsley 59. Joe Cole never fulfilled his potential with England either, and there are others going back further. Admittedly, other factors play a role, but the shallow football culture has been one of the most important components, in my opinion. It was a vicious circle because the national team often set the standard in many ways and what people saw, they then came to expect. It used to influence every level of the game, at least until the Premier League was formed and gained supremacy, and that brought influences and ideas from elsewhere and now things are, thankfully, slowly changing. I remember when I used to watch the reply of every United game on MUTV and the extra detail that you pick up when you can relax knowing what has happened really opened my eyes. I started to notice things that I would have completely overlooked previously. The focus after most games has always been on the goals, the assists, the controversy, or more recently, a moment of skill. But that misses so much of what’s actually important, both in terms of winning football matches and the talent that is vital to achieving that.

Good player for the club, but you would think it was Giggs or Scholes being sent on their farewell. Hell, Rooney has more goals than anyone and he didn't get this sort of love from Mourinho and the club when he left. Sure, Carrick was a good player, but United have had many players with the same sort of career. Come on Jose, Scholes and Giggs were club legends.. we seen how you handled and pushed Giggs away. Rooney is statue worthy.. Idc where he was born. What have you done for this club, Mr. Mourinho?? Rooney grew into world class at United. Jose may well hold Carrick into the Giggs tier, but he's not fooling me. I'll miss Carrick, but this staff at United have gotten their send offs all wrong.
