I'm genuinely curious: what did Herman Mashaba achieve when he was mayor? I am a middle class Joburger and I saw no improvements in service delivery in my areas and surrounds during his time. So the question then is: was he better for working class or poor neighbourhoods - in which case I would happily support him. But his inner city police raids were declared unconstitutional by the Johannesburg High Court and I can't find any legitimate third-party, independent sources validating widespread improvements in the lot of Joburgers during his tenure. So it seems doubtful to me. I personally can't see what added value they could possibly bring to SA politics.

For me: I won't vote for ActionSA because they are too right-wing on the political spectrum. It is not enough that a party seems to be diverse (multiracial and multireligious/secular) on paper, I want them to have a real commitment to human rights. Herman Mashaba showed with his unconstitutional inner city Police raids and anti-migrant statements when he was Johannesburg mayor that he is prepared to engage in the scapegoating of our most vulnerable members of society. If I'm going to settle for a right-wing party then I just don't see what specific value ActionSA adds to the table, I might as well vote for the DA at that point. I'm going to give Rise Mzansi a chance. I don't get the impression that they are a far left party but they at least seem further to the left than either the DA or ActionSA, while also being diverse and multireligious/secular.

@ja9.b523 anything left will leave a socialist failure behind, which is what we've currently got. The only thing keeping it together is a few million loyal tax payers. People need jobs and economic growth to get the off the social system. Sure have a safety net but not 30 million people on grants which is what the ANC have done. What a disgrace! The next generation will grow up getting used to their parents NOT working and waiting in line each week for their grants!

What’s wrong with being Pan African and why Africa countries are not allowed to become united and be one country, crime in South Africa is as much as it was during apartheid just that during apartheid we people were not allowed to report crimes that were committed against people during apartheid in actual fact if apartheid policies were not openly recorded no people could have said apartheid was crime against humanity. The decline of ANC is because of people small political parties that are emerging from ANC members that are being trying to be correct from their wrong doings.

30 yrs did not do it + there's no indication that they want to role back the rot + destruction any time soon, as destructive laws are still passed in a steady stream, with the internal embarrassing + primitive fight for control of taxes + resources breaking the once prosperous country apart. For taxpayers, the poor + consumers it's just more + more of the same. No one thought it could possibly get worse - but it did. There is indeed a new oppressor + denying it is delusional. Climbing inequality, unemployment, Deindustrialisation + the crime rate should tell ppl that. Time to get in touch with a reality that already sport a lavish beard. How many chances more does the anc, its cronies + cohorts want to dissappoint SA? SA can't just be sold of to the next + the next bidder who wants control without accountability. More than 50,000 of civil servants are millionares. Those earning more than R1 million p month are the astounding number 55,000 - while service delivery is non existent??!! Just how clever is that? Stoking the fires with xeno is grossly irresponsible - culprit leaders + their parties, including those who are guilty of gross neglect, will be the 1st to reap what they sow. The victims of their doings will have the last say. No one wants a coalition with the anc, but it's the only way to get extra eyes on + to stop anc wasteful expenditure + gross looting - its not a task for small inexperienced parties/leaders without solid backing. SA just needs to know more abt the foreign policy of ASAP.

I'd love to hear more about how opposition parties are consolidating efforts to bring about a change in government. It always baffled me that the DA was pressed by losing votes in 2019 with Maimane as their candidate. A departing DA voter wouldn't vote EFF and is reasonably unlikely to vote ANC. Those votes effectively went to the VF+, the VF+ would never be big enough to govern alone and would never be a partner of choice for the ANC or EFF. The VF+ would be a natural ally in a coalition Multi-party charter coalition. So if ActionSA and the DA are serious about entering government - surely consolidated efforts should be taken to drive votes off the ANC? Where if we look at provinces like Gauteng and KZN are likely to be decided by single-digit % points- how are parties within the MPC working strategically to target the constituencies which fall in opposition camps? I also don't think that accessing these contested constituencies is going to be done through policy promises- the average South African voter isn't swayed to vote for a party because of fantastic ideas around macroeconomics. These voters need to engaged in a way that is familiar and is championed by the ANC, busses on election day, rallies, community meetings, church services and T-shirts.

That's exactly the difference. 3) Also, you've not answered my question: How is ActionSA meaningfully different from the the DA in terms of where they sit on the political spectrum? They are both centre right parties.
