any tips for boardslides and not catching an edge while in a boardslide on a box? Tips when the features/boxes are sticky?

Always keep a nice athletic stance, keep your shoulder over your toes with your knees bent a little. Don’t have your weight to far forward or backwards. Then for the sticky rails or boxes, if you run into that, just put some snow on the feature, that usually does the trick. You can also keep wax in a backpack and wax the feature if needed.

Any tips for riding rails backwards? I find it hard to commit without worrying about catching my back edge, which leads me to slide out up the rail.

That’s a very valid fear, I definitely had to work through that. I’d say start small, doesn’t matter if it’s a small tube box or rail, start small and take a bit more speed. That way you’re not on the feature for that much time. Also practice on snow while going down hill. If you can do it on snow without catching an edge, on a feature is no problem.
