Thanks for posting, definitely was a big help!
Thanks. I've taken my console off to wire in seat heaters (I'm removing the ashtray and designing a switch mount to fit in the ashtray cavity). Anyway, when I removed the console, I could see my upper shift boot is in tatters. Now I know how to fix it! Mine is also a '99.
Best and detailed video. Helped me alot in rebuilding mine!!

Thank you so much for the kind words!
Great video. Got an IL reinforced kit ready to go. Just been putting it off for a while and this video has made me wonder why... Granted, there are a few things I didn't think of. Thanks. This weekends first job is set.

@@speedygarage264 yup. I did the shifter rebuild kit from mossmiata 3 weeks ago. And it shifts so good. Thank you for this video
I thought my bushing was missing, but it had been upgraded to brass so it stayed down in it the gear oil when the turret came out. Haha
Hey i am planning on doing this but I am seeing on the forums that there are differences between the 5 and 6 speed, are the shifter boots still the same part number? I'm hearing that you don't add trans fluid to the turret in the 6 speed
Thanks
very nice video, thank you

No problem! Hope this helped!
Is this the same process on the 6 speed cars? I heard the turret is different and isn't separate from the transmission.
3:18 u cleaned it so it will fit better?
How much fluid did you take out and put back in?

He says about 90cc
Does this help with heating and insulation in the interior? My center console is so warm while I drive my 2003 manual Miata

Yes, definitely does. There is also a piece of of fluffy/fiberglass looking insulation that many Miatas are missing - that also helps keep some heat out.

@speedygarage264 is this the same process for the 6 speed trans?
This made my shifter really stiff, theres not much play in neutral at all. Hopefully it wears in 😬😬
Was your lower shift boot damaged too?
