This was a lot more entertaining than I was expecting.
It was a pleasure seeing you there! Just as nice behind the cameras as you are in front! Keep it up Gill!
please do more of these vlogs!! I love knowing the bts of what its like in media
Great stuff Gill. Always enjoy your VLOGs. You do a great job of immersing the viewer in the atmosphere of the event. If anyone reading this has not watched the Wimbledon VLOG from a few years back DO SO. I'm completely lost on why tennis does not expand these press conferences to more players and change the format. And release the videos of them for heaven's sake! Fans love to hear from the stars. Tennis needs to adapt. Fascinating watch; another really cool VLOG!
Thanks for taking the time to make this Gill. I've always wondered about the behind the scenes of these tournaments, as that information seems opaque and hard to come by, but thanks for breaking it down. Glad you enjoyed yourself!
Shot! Gill that was an awesome episode. Footage of practise courts was great! Nice intro to the tournament- incredible that it is taken down and put up each year.
Alcaraz answered your question well. Federer was going for incredible shots in 2003-04 taking tennis to a new unimagined level, and Carlos will soon take it beyond Big 3 level if he can keep developing exceptional balance. (He has the serving potential, but question is whether he can reach the Djokovic returning potential, the shot that stands out above all of the rest of the history of tennis.) Was that 'one coach' One Carlos Ferrero? 🍀
Cameron Norrie isn't Carlos Alcaraz! (; ha ha ha! This was super fun! Thanks for sharing this with us! (:
That’s some solid leg drive on the Gill serve
Daily vlog (day in the life) once a week or even once a month wouldn’t be the worst thing Gill. Cheers
Great coverage Gill! I really enjoyed this episode, full of fun facts and very informative 👏👏👏
Do more of these, so good see how the court/arenas feels like.
Honestly I'm a bit torn. I like seeing you so happy enjoying the tournaments whether they be Slams or Masters like and I think you deserve that pleasure but I also like your post match analysis videos. If both could exist, maybe even in a post match late night livestream or something like that I'd feel the best!
Gil gross the goat of youtube tennis
Hey gill, you should try and ask more questions to the top guys at these big tournaments. Your question is a lot more interesting than the majority of others.
Great vlog Gill! Loved it. Must have been a fanboy moment with Carlitos. 😋
You did a brilliant job, Gill! Down-to-earth honest sharing of the atmosphere. Such a highly intelligent, discerning commentator always. The Ruuusuuvuori prediction and others coming true. (Would be so interesting to hear your views on other important things in the world, if you ever start a second channel.)
Great editing/quality here, great stuff!
Awesome Vlog Gill! Glad you could ask some relevant questions to the players. Try to make a separate video on the same
This was so good can they fly you out to every tournament pls🤣
i love you gillll!!!!!!!!!!!
Bro really made it out the mud 😢 In all seriousness it’s been great having been here since
The slice whilst wearing the Yao Ming jersey was the best bit, what a legend you are Gill.
Awesome video! I really enjoyed the behind the scenes footage.
@9:11 - 1- scheduling or lack of 2- need two courts under the roof ( can easily do 3 under a retractable roof football stadium ) 3 - lack of organization at the recreation levels for the general public to gain public interest in the game 4 - the tennis point/score ( ask a typical person on the street and see if she/he knows how a game is won ) 5- not many schools have tennis courts 6- other growing sports competing for the market share
Good stuff Gill🎉. Really enjoyed this one.
Love the Vlog. Really insightful!
it is a nice mix up indeed. great job Gill. hope you enjoyed
Loved the vlog, very fun to see!
Thank you for this Gill. Soooo interesting. Its like being there. Keep up the good work !!!
Great video! Thanks Gill!
Gill, would it be better to have no byes? To have the feels of a masters 1000 event from day one? Can't the organizers implement that?
5:06 "classic Hubi there" lmaooo
really enjoyed this!
Thanks Gill for catching the ambiance of Miami M1000 for us the ones that cannot be in person. Have a warm embrace from Murcia, Spain, the land of Carlitos Alcaraz. Let me ask you sth...what does 'early popcorn' means in your analyse videos? I suspect it is some kind of metaphore...thanks in advance. Keep on the good work, tennis man. 😇👍

Well popcorn is associated with movies, which are usually quite engaging to watch. So 'early popcorn' means an early round match (1st round, second round, etc) that will potentially be interesting or fun to watch
I loved this! I dont usually do vlogs, but as it's you Gill, and I enjoyed your previous, I watched the whole thing. Yeah, do more of this stuff- you're a natural communicator ❤ PS. Good that you chose to go chill in Miami and made a point of enjoying yourself. Better for all. TBH, mad tweeting and commenting on everything wud have been fairly annoying
Nice job Gill. Love it!
Thanks for sharing this with us. You are my favorite tennis commentator. Looks like you had a good time overall. I hope you will do more of these VLOGs, it brings us into the mix without being there. Looks like they are having more rain lately at Miami, since you left, alot more interrupted matches. I guess they cannot throw up a roof when they put up the temp courts. Are the courts fast because of the temporary build?
Your question to Alcaraz was fantastic. Only, I wished it had been in Spanish so he could have answered comfortably (not your fault, obviously). I understand how it feels when somebody asks you an insightful question in a language is not your primary
Great video...informative and exciting! Thanks Gill :)
Great video and most importantly informative!
Extremely good vlog! Thanks!
They could release Cam Norrie footage so we could feel a la GoPro what it's like to face the Gregoire Barrage⚡
Gill i was also at Watanuki v Foe and then after the first set went to Shelton v Mannarino, some very exciting stuff, loved the vlog!!!
Hello to your lovely mom! She's very comfortable with being on camera until you told her not to! 😄
This seems like a 250-500 event with lipstick. Why not cover our local beautiful tennis paradise which is a real tennis event for real tennis lovers? Also love the THREE cameo!!

Yes Miami seems not a classy tournament. Indian Wells definitely a step up. I never used to watch anything but Queens and Wimbledon, and now I realise why all the players are so obsessed with Wimbledon. No contest for style and class.
Nice work! Love your channel 🙌
Best tennis episode ever! Gave me an idea of what it's like to be at a big tennis event. Wish you would have gone to Indian Wells too which is out by you. Now I know why some of the matches had annoying beeping sounds in the background. I figured there was construction in the area and now, thanks to you, I have a good guess: putting together the racetrack.
damn gill didnt know the basketball jersey game was like that. fire yao ming classic rockets jersey
Firstly, great video gil, super well edited and presented to give us insight into the Miami Open on the ground. Secondly: whoops! I argued under a recent Monday Match Analysis that Miami plays almost as slow as Indian Wells with the heat, and until recently that might be true, but as soon as I saw the success of players like Mannarino, Halys, etc, I knew I was way off. Sorry to everyone I led astray last week!
Great episode Gill! Keep it going!
Fun watch!
Great video and insights!
Shout out to Gill’s mom!
Hey Gill. Interesting vlog at the Miami Open. I have been credentialed 4 times at the Miami Open, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2018. For me, you just can't beat Key Biscayne as a venue for the Miami Open. Did you meet people in the media section who also were nostalgic about Key Biscayne without necessarily being detrimental about the Hard Rock venue?
Be sure to listen to V-Rock while you are in Vice City FTW!!
I have a question about Sinner's toss. it seems that he tosses it always behind his head/ slightly to his left. It is common if you are serving kick, especially on the 2nd serve. but it looks like Janick is tossing the same way in his 1st serve as well. I don't get it.
Oh wow!! Amy Lundy in Miami, looking so fresh and cool with Gill!! You should have talked a bit Gill..
5:08 “classic Hubi there” as he misses a routine forehand 💀💀
i was there with my tennis group
How do they determine who plays? Is there a lineup ahead of time?
Great video. Loved the shout-out to Fort Lauderdale and Laspada’s. Yao Ming jersey (Go Rockets!). Amy!!! The grounds at Hard Rock are so much better than the lame offerings at Crandon. Everyone loves the beauty of Key Biscayne but the facilities were obviously very dated and couldn’t be modernized feasibly. The centrality of Hard Rock to SoFL is also *SO MUCH* better than KB. You left just in time as the hot, humid, rainy season has just begun. 😢
Can we talk about all the upsets? Guess, we have to wait till Friday?
9:30 isn’t late in Miami!
The brother routine is absolutely hilarious. Strong Marx brothers vibe.
@gill what is that crazy car you're driving?
Classic Hubi there lol
I think tennis would get more interest if it allowed more mixing of media with players - what about at warm-ups? I would hate being a tennis reporter with such restricted access
Gill, do they disallow recording actual matches? Any reason for that?
good work as usuall
The courts are fast only during the day .
In Japanese yosuke is pronounced YOSKE, not YOSOOKE!
Billy looks like your brother
Not a great analogy by your friend. Basketball and baseball fans come to watch the team play usually in prime hours.
"classic hubi there" leave the forehand alone 😅
se gastan croquetas en miami y todo... pues no se vive tan mal
Gill, If you know of cars as much you know of tennis, you should own aTesla!!!!

No please...
Tennis must be, in terms of watching and viewership, the 3rd/4th biggest sport in the world behind football (soccer to Americans), basketball and maybe cricket because of the Indian market, relax NFL isn't that well watched (bar the Superbowl) outside of America and the UK. In terms of participation, probably 3rd/4th as well.
SINNER will win Miami

Let's see. Alcaraz has been the most impressive so far. And watch out Fritz!

If Sinner gets to the final, it will be Medvedev.

Gill had him winning IW and he lost, so, since he has him losing Miami, he might win 😂😂😂
Very jealous.
Great content Gil. But sorry, tennis is not the second most popular sport in the world. Soccer, Cricket, American football and probably basket ball is more popular. Table tennis is probably played by more people as well.
I wish Alcaraz spoke better English.
