To truly get assets and fix the cap issues, as dramatic as it might feel…trading Jimmy, Herro, Duncan, Rozier will jump start the rebuild. Clear cap, gain multiple assets, and now you’ll be in position to get an uber talented individual. You don’t invest in older/bad contract/injured players. Jimmy is old and looking for a big new deal. Duncan is 30 looking for a new deal. Herro is talented but often injured. Rozier is a slightly less efficient Herro type on a bad contract, now injured. People always say there is nobody out there then a player you didn't expect to be moved gets traded to a team you never expected and they get vaulted way up. The heat simply refuse to make any moves of significance. Porzingis for example wasn't necessarily out there as an available guy, and nobody ever mentioned a team like the Heat, who desperately needed a big man, to be even inquiring about him as far as i remember. But creative teams go after guys like that who are going nowhere fast and on expiring contracts. The Heat just sit back and hope something falls into their lap. Why not look at next years free agents. You got big men like Brook Lopez or Bobby Portis on expiring contracts who are playing for a team in disarray with its coaching and no clear path forward. They could be traded for in a creative package. The heat just have the most uninspiring front office ever and are incapable of making serious moves.

    We simply have no chance of any kind of playoff run if we don’t get a starting level point of attack defender. We have 3 offense-leaning guards and our offense is still treacherous, so we are not creating any advantage having those 3 guards, plain and simple. 1 option would be to sign Haywood and start him. There are worse options, to be honest, and I wouldn’t feel that bad about a starting 5 of Jimmy, Bam, Jovic, Highsmith, and Terry. Terry is more dynamic across the board than Tyler, so I start him in any situation where I have that option. This is my best case for keeping Tyler around, as a sixth man, but you have to trade Duncan. You cannot have 2 of your 5 biggest contracts coming off the bench to fill the same role. It’s just awful roster construction, but one of them has to go, and I still prefer to keep Duncan in this case.

  • @PointJovic

    @PointJovic

    9 күн бұрын

    The other option is to trade some combination of Terry Tyler Duncan to acquire a point of attack defender. I like Bruce Brown, as he’s being shopped, is on an expiring contract of $23 million, and is a really good player that fits on paper. It would be a clever way to get off of Tyler or Terry’s contract, while getting a “win now” piece that helps our books. To be fair, I don’t know if Toronto would or can do that trade, but I don’t think they’ll get better offers for an expiring contract.

    Tobin, In all reality this is going on at least the last 4 years since we got Butler. Riley's tried to put pieces around Butler but that hasn't worked. Riley doesn't want to pay Butler anymore so obviously this is the last year you will see Butler with the Miami heat. And I believe Riley is getting too old and spoelstra is not Pat Riley.

    what pieces has he tried to put around butler? They have filled the roster with undrafted players, undersized guards, and guys well past their prime. Kevin Love, Oladipo, Lowry, Tucker, Strus, Robinson, Martin, Vincent, Dedmon, Herro, Nunn, Dragic. . . Where are the good, reliable players he his putting around Butler to make up a championship caliber team?

    Trade Herro and Duncan to the Nets for Ben and their pick. Nikko J.Rich Jimmy Bam Ware Ben Rozier Jaime Highsmith Love We shed more cap immediately which does help with those Apron rules plus getting the Nets pick is a no brainer. Riley wants to keep retooling. We would still make the playoffs even tho Ben is a bust, Spo might be able to give him a spark again and we would have a great chance at getting Ace. In ACE I TRUST!

    The trade market wasn’t that good tbh. Outside of a potential trade for Donovan Mitchell I’m glad we didn’t get Derozan. Caleb Martin would have also been a huge overpayment. Miami finally has a true big in Kel’el Ware the pairing of him and Bam will be lethal. If Jimmy plays like we know he is capable of playing from beginning of season throughout and stays healthy Miami should be legit! Tyler and Duncan have to go, they’ve hit their ceiling already.

    Problem with heat fans is you dammed if u do dammed if u dont… would I like some moves some roster shake up, of course but in all honesty we don’t have a terrible roster lol if we run it back fuck it I believe in the roster and coaching staff along with development. Both times we made a finals run in the jimmy build half these so called fans only got into the party and bandwagon when it’s on the up and up. A lot of these “fans” watch the highlight clips and mayb a National game or two, they aren’t invested on a random Tuesday playin Detroit but some of us are and it’s a process and journey. Be appreciative of the only franchise in south Florida that has held it down in the 2000s consistently trust alot of nba franchise wish to have half of our success.

    I’m frustrated with the same formula of Pat Riley. He keeps running it back while losing core players. They keep acquiring these veteran role players that fixes nothing. Can’t sign a big name to save their lives. It’s like trying to make the same cake with lesser and lesser quality ingredients. At this point it’s just sad seeing Pat and the Heat front office regressing worse than Joe Biden’s cognitive memory!!! Pat needs to go at this point. This team gives you no real hope to contend.
