I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed it. All I can see right now is a Quarriors reskinning.

I am definitely getting into this game. Looks awesome. I wanted to get into Quarriors but I didn't really want to spend so much money for it. At least with this, I won't feel like I'm spending too much on it. The gameplay looks great and the heroes' abilities look pretty cool. I cannot wait for this to release!

I think its level of "collectibility" is really fine for me, mainly due to the reasonable price of each 2-dice/card packs. Absolutely going to get it soon :)

If WIZKIDS branches out, I would love to see a G.I. Joe version of Dice Masters. There are so many characters in the Joe verse that would be fun to play and they are also a Marvel Comic, Originally.

Actually, they were a Hasbro toyline originally, and Marvel were licenced to do the comics. Now they're not - IDW holds that licence now. That said, aren't WizKids a Hasbro subsidiary anyway? I agree, I'd like to see GI Joe as an expansion, as well as my personal pet franchise, Transformers.

Ok, so you say this is 'thematic', yet villains and heroes can be on the same 'team' right? So, does this debunk the verdict on DC Comic Deckbuilder? :) I do not doubt this dice game is super- fun. I really enjoy the Quarrior line, and this super-hero cousin looks to be a blast. But I would not call it 'true-thematic'. Thematic maybe because an ability would 'match' it's respective character, (sort of like the cards in DCCDB), but not 'true-thematic'. The dice were a concern of mine, not for paint rubbing off, but for clarity. If the dice consistently have the quality of detail that yours do, then that would be great! The dice are very appealing as is the artwork on the cards. You guys are terrific. I love your reviews and Tom's enthusiasm. I always look forward to the next visit from all three of you. :)

Tom probably would never use super heroes and villains on the same team. If he does, then he should apologize DC Deck building game :) Well, you can stay thematic in this game at least with your team.

I really hope he's wright about being on of the biggest hits of 2014!! I'm stoked about the potential of this game.

What cards come in the base set? I don't really fallow comics so I don't know who was part of the Avengers/ X-Men fight.

You have to tell us what kind of storage case you are using.

I just started playing and I notice there doesn't seem to be a way to reduce your pool. Unless someone knows different.

Plano makes these and you can get them at Wal Mart for very cheap.

The impression I get is that it’s Heroclix but in card form? It looks interesting but if I had a option I would go for Heroclix.

Is this going to be available internationally? Or is that release date US only?

Tom, I've always wondered where you get your titles, animations and music. If it's a trade secret, cool, but I was wondering if you made them yourself, commissioned them or use public domain. I love the Miami Dice intro song.

Just purchased this game yesterday at FFG event center(sold out again at FFG). I was looking for a fast game to play with my wife and kids. I think the comparison to magic is correct but it is so different. I love this game !!!!!! I think the dice are great the card art is great (cards are thin) plays fast and theme is awesome.

Will you be able to play this game with more than 2 players?

Where did you/do you buy those cloth drawstring bags?

I made my own bags by going to the fabric store and buying canvas and sewing them. Don't laugh but my mother was a seamstress. I grew up learning how to sew. :)

For some reason, the audio is worse in the new house.Move again! Seriously now, maybe you need to insulate the room with that acoustic foam thing. It sounds so empty in there

The Dice Tower I would recommend some acoustic paneling anyway. The presentation of the show is getting better and better. The new camera and the improved game room help the visual presentation a lot. There is no reason to skip out on the audio. You don't need to cover the entire room, but putting up some good size pieces around the room where you have open space can go a long way in cutting down that reverberation effect that is prevalent when using condenser mics.

Eric Lucero Maybe a stretch goal for next year's kickstarter? A lot of money is being put towards improvements this spring as is.

I'm already super excited for this one, and this review just seals the deal. I'm planning on running an organized play league for this at my FLGS, and I agree that this one's looking like it'll be a big hit. April 23rd is so far away!

question: same characters can block themselves? Can Wolverine from one player be blocked by Wolverine from another player?! This wouldn`t make sense, don`t you think?

You get to pick your own individual team, and the combat is head to head more like magic with blockers and defenders. Also, global abilities. I haven't played Quarriors, but I would assume most of these hold true.

in quarriors you also have blocker and defender! and if you want you can choose/draft some cards in the beginning, so it would be the same gameplay wise?!

I actually enjoyed Quarriors quite a bit, so by saying it looks like a reskin I don't mean I won't be able to enjoy it. How are the games different, though, beside the fact that each player has his own selection of cards and dice? The core mechanisms seem very similar to Quarriors'.

I must buy this when it comes out. What sucks is you can't pre order it from coolstuffinc.com except the Marvel Dice Masters: Avengers vs X-Men Dice Building Game Gravity Feed Display. Not sure if that is just the small packs and a display? Does anyone know? Anyway I want this soooooo bad and the DC version when it comes out. Glad you guys like it. Tom, i am on the same level as you, very excited. I hope Cool Stuff puts it on pre order soon.

Hi again, The sound does sound a little bit like you are talking in a cave. Not sure what can be done about it, but it is noticible.

There already is a Yugioh dice game, Dungeon Dice Monsters. The concept was alright but it wasn't very popular and they didn't support it much after release.

Love quarriors and love this one theme BUT... only 2-players? Can't figure that game being a hit if it plays only for 2 with soooo many excellent CCG/BCG/DCG in the market:(

I have been considering getting into Quarriors but the theme was really not doing it for me, I found the "comedy" off putting. But this, this seems like something I can get behind, now I just have to get over the collectible aspect, i have a very bad track record with those types of game. i always get overeager and get a ton of card, and is then left as the only one among my friends who is willing to get into it. But it seems like this can be done perfectly well with just one guy having the stuff.

"Ultimate sacrifice"? Nuh-uh, wasn't a sacrifice. Game looks fun tho.

Tom already needs one additional die :P

Zee seems to really like this game. Weird that he never talks about it now. Not on his top 100 either IIRC.

NO, NO, NO!!! Uh, uh, Tom, you don't get away with this. You can't give this game so much praise after screaming at the DC Deck Building Game for its theme problems. The DC DBG has, for example, Green Lantern's ability to use Batman's utility belt, or Wonder Woman recruiting criminals to help her fight. You said that kind of crossing over makes no thematic sense - yet you're okay with, for instance, Deadpool using Captain America's shield??? That sounds like a double standard to me, because you're in love with the theme here. GOTCHA!

You gave a 9.5 rating to a game with a major marketing flaw. Like you Tom, I can see myself playing the base game and enjoy what looks to be like a fun game without the necessity to collect boosters. But I know I'll want more heroes and 1$ or not there is NO WAY I will buy a pack without knowing what can be inside. That's basics of the selling/buying theory. MTG at least garantees a set of rarities and that's enough for me because it means I can trade my rares with other rares. With this game I would have gladly spent 50$ more to get hold of all the cards if this was a LCG instead. The format matters a lot and people can have different opinions about that. Personally I feel like MTG and the other Pokemon-like card games are not really a good thing to the hobby as it emphasizes the rich man kid syndrom. I cannot play MTG anymore because I am FORCED to buy new cards to cope with my opposition (since that's what they do, also no need to point out that's 100% of their board game budget). If you look at the BGG posts about this discussion for the Marvel Dice game, you will see judging by the tone of the designers that the game is made for mass market and that's not something I would promote much regardless of the quality of production of that game. When I read these things I feel like there is something underneath the game that I don't quite like. You are welcome to disagree with me, your rating reflects the game's quality and that's fine, but there are politics involved in terms of major decisions made about the game, and I simply don't think recommending this game is a striaght forward thing to do due to the consequence this type of marketing design may have on the market. I would aboslute HATE that more future card games took this distribution model as a winning concept and make the whole hobby the church of the rich men.

Are there enough villains for heroes vs villains? I hate superhero games against other superheroes.

***** from what i saw i counted 7 - magneto, mystique, green goblin, dr. doom, doc ock, venom, loki. if you look at the cards some have symbols on them. the red tentacled thingy on a black field is the symbol for villain. also there is a 4 for fantastic four, x for xmen, a for avengers (for the person wondering about who is on which team) im nor sure about the rest though or if it will matter

To be fair, Tom has since corrected me. The DC DBG forces the theme problem upon you, while in Dice Masters you have a greater freedom of choice as to which heroes and equipment you decide to bring to the table. So the potential for theme violation is still there in Dice Masters, but it's not nearly as bad as in the DC DBG. Sorry, Tom.

Almost everything plays exactly the same as Quarriors! I find your lack of innovation disturbing

The Dice Tower A friend of mine blew this off saying it was just Quarriors and I gave him about 8-10 rules that made it different but he's not buying it. This is not Quarriors with heroes

It looks nice but I still can't stand collectors games. It's why I just recently left magic because I was tired of rares, mythic rares and such. That's why I moved onto Netrunner with it's limited card game format which for me is a much better format.

This game is more like Quarriors meets the VS System. Unfortunately no one knows the VS System. I'm okay with the cheap bags and reused artwork. Why? Costs. The costs of collecting this game is quite low. I actually wasn't excited for this game until I saw the costs. Sacrificing a couple dollars to upgrade the bag ourselves is worth it if it brings more people to the game.

as I understood correctly: One only gets 8 characters...so the ones you are introducing (10:45) are from your personal full package that you`ve got for the review.......other people have to invest "much more" in order to get that full experience.....honestly I´m not a big fan of that. The better choice would have been to include all characters but to sell the base game for a higher price.

It shouldn't be that bad since only the cards are rare / very rare. In theory you can probably just print out the card image and use a proxy -- you only really need the dice. Granted your copy won't be "legit" and you'll still need to spend money to get the dice, but I think that's a fair compromise between the two. Just glad they didn't make some DICE rare.

Yeah, I've had sometime to come around to the idea. Really it's the $1 price tag. I can overlook it for a dollar. Had it been $3-4 dollar a Magic booster, then forget it.

Keith Li That comparison is horrible. You're using 8ish cards and approximately 20 dice per game. That's $10 for a full deck. In a MtG the standard is 60 cards with boosters holding at most 16 cards for $4 (or $1 for 4 cards). That means you'd have to spend a minimum of $15 to make a viable deck in MtG... and that doesn't even account for different colors and other things.

Gameplay looks great. But I'll wait for a living dice game from FFG. There's no reason to waste a lot of cash on useless boosters.

Lol? Is this a review of the base game or a review of the game when you have collected everything?

I can see the mechanics in the game suiting Yu-Gi-Oh! perfectly. . . . . . . . .why are you laughing? There nothing wrong with a grown man liking Yu-Gi?

Sam just lost all his credibility in comic books area when I saw his reaction towards DC...

I am not a big fan of the collectible part, you end up with the have's and the have nots. A terrible money sink with no end in sight. It's a theme I like both DC and Marvel, but I have not intrest in getting started in this, I wish them well, but it's just not something I am going to pick up.

Quarriors kind of sucked, so I am a bit worried about this one.

Ok need to call bs on the collectible part of this game. People are paying $50 for a gobby or tsarina. You are paying to play now.

I need to call bs on the pricing too. "Just one dollar" doesn't really mean anything. Assuming all cards have the same rarity (which they DON'T and that adds to the price for most cards): On average, playing with a certain card costs between 6$ and 15$ (3 dollars per die up to max die size, or 4 dollars if you just want the card). For a specific rare, it's about 24$, and for ultra rares it's just too stupidly high unless you buy them on ebay or something (with the aforementioned 50$ prices, which aren't bad). Getting the whole game costs at least 225$, without considering the different rarities. Plus the starter set. 250$ is playing it safe. TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY BUCKS FOR THIS GAME ONLY.

How once a great and nice game fell becouse of the producers stupid decisions and approach to community.. Really sad.

Auto-Dislike for shitting on Punisher. Read Ennis's "In the Begginning" and "Kitchen Irish" and then tell me the character is "Over-rated". While not worth a dislike on its own, boo on you, sir, for rolling your eyes at Marvel over DC. Only in terms of films can Marvel pretend to compete. There are no equivalents to The Long Halloween or All-Star Superman or the Longbow Hunters or Identity Cris in the Marvel catalogue (welll... Fraction's Hawkeye run, but otherwise...).

I really dislike Sam Healey's shirt. Vasel does a commendable job keeping religion to a minimum in his reviews (unless it's absolutely necessary and affects his opinion of the game) and I greatly appreciate that. This "Christian Warrior" shirt though, is very tacky and tasteless.
