Miami Beach 'Breaks Up' With Spring Breakers

Miami Beach is telling spring breakers “we're over.” Last spring break, police used pepper balls to break up the crowds when curfews were ignored by some revelers. Now, authorities are reinforcing the break-up message with new tough restrictions designed to discourage visitors. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is backing the effort to shut down spring break. “What we don't welcome is mayhem and people that want to wreak havoc,” he says.

Back then, it was basically a chance when students from colleges up north (which is where I was) got their mid winter semester break to go to a warmer climate to have fun, party and let off some stress from classes. Of course, back then, it was nothing like it is today. Yes there was drinking and partying in clubs and the like, but none of the massive crowds and violence like we see today.
