start the downwind engine first. then you don't have exhaust interfering with the downwind engine start. when the rotors are up to speed this is not an issue. you need to know the wind direction anyway so its not a wasted step. it helps you not to forget to check wind direction.

That´s not completely true. Some covers will move the switch under it to it´s original position when closed, however others will not. The covers that won´t usually have a rectangular whole that when flipped back will act as a mechanical security for keeping the switch in position. The Hind like many other Russian aircraft features both types of switch covers. An example for the latter type of "security switch cover" would be the left and right red fire enine valve cover located on the left side panel of the hind.

0:36 is totally wrong. The right side circuit breaker panel is *not* just for weapons - it’s for fire protection, anti icing and some fuel pumps too. The weapons circuit breakers are split across both panels. How did you come to the conclusion they are just for weapons when only a few of the switches actually are?

I would hope you could get an A320 going faster than a Hind. It's much newer technology with far more computer control and has a lot less to do because it's an airliner rather than a helicopter gunship. No optional rocket pods and ATGMs on an A320 unfortunately! Also, because airlines are always trying to cut costs, Airbus placed a big emphasis on simple and consistent control systems and interfaces to make it easier and quicker to train pilots and let them move between aircraft without having to relearn everything. Military hardware is all about getting the job done first and foremost, and simplicity is far less important because airmen are expected to just get on and learn this stuff.

  • @springbok4015

@@trolleriffic Solid response and fair comment. I think I did expect a military helicopter to be a little quicker to get going even when considering the age. The A320 is only around 10 years younger than the Mi-24P. Mi-24P is for sure a force to be reckoned with and not something anyone wants to encounter when on the ground.
