Finally, got my first good run of the game. Charge Blade relies on getting flinches 90% of the time with this setup but there's some very cool positioning tricks you can do. Nice run and a nice mix set it’s cool to see different people running different sets to achieve similar results.

I have a question, is dereliction better for dragon and lightning charge blade than the stormsoul set bonus on the Ibushi and Narwa armor? I’m asking because you’re using dereliction in the video?

I did not know CB had an explosion counter. Looks like I'm making a CB build today Edit: So I've been trying to do this for the last few hours but I can't do the explosion out of the counter, what's the button combo? (Nvm, figured it out lol. Now to get the mats for that CB...)

Fantastic run! I have to ask, is Guard 5 a necessity when fighting Malzeno?

I think you can get away with guard 3, but you need to be more conscious of what you Counter Peak and what you Guard Point, and you may lose some responses. Additionally, running dereliction means you may end up at 1HP so you want to take no chip damage, and G5 is the way to do that

Hi a question as I'm an newb trying to main a chargeblade. Is it just me or is he spamming guard points from sword to axe and chain it into an ultra discharge? Any insight on this would be much appreciated.

The majority of this run is countering the attack with guard points and responding with SAED, yeah. However, it takes a lot of knowledge, positioning and yes, some luck to be able to do so quickly and avoid getting hit in this matchup. I'll be going over this matchup in a later video and discussing the specifics of it to people who don't know quite how it works, so look forward to that! (:

he's using the counter peak performance switch skill, which fills your phials on a successful block and lets you cancel into saed (plus a number of other attacks)

he is using the counter peak performance switch skill you get in a stance when using this and if you get hit you gain full phials. After the block you have a shortcut for the sword or axe charge (pressing x on switch) or go immediately into saed or aed by pressing x & a

@@CeraCymmetry Many many thanks, I never knew you can chain into an ultra until I've watched your run. I always had a hard time looking for openings to use all my phials in one go.

Good run. I'll never understand weapons that have a lot of one sharpness then go straight to red. In modern Monster Hunter games it's so easy to sharpen your weapon and the monster usually leaves by the time its gotten to that point that the risk of using them is negligible.

It's not really supposed to be a risk, it's kind of just a joke since Valstrax's colors are white and red (more or less)

I want to use cb over lance but when I do saed they never seem to stagger and then they hit me in the face. Almost triple carted to a barroth of all things cause there seemed to be no safe openings 🙃

it should be on as default but you can tweak it on the settings menu to make it less or more visible.

Gameplay like this makes me wanna reject modernity and return to unga bunga. I used CB in all of MHW and most of Iceborne, but I've found it really difficult to play in Rise for some reason.

Helps to manage the stagger, if you try to hit the arms it means that if malz staggers the phials still end up hitting

how do those fucking speedrunners hit so hard.. I have end game set, weapon and my phials hit like for half of his... Is his whole set, decos, weapon, talisman specific just for this fight to maximise dmg?

Genuine, respectful question, where do you find any fun or enjoyment in using nothing but 2-3 attacks over and over?

positioning, strategy, learning what to do that lets me get off these attacks constantly without much fear of being punished. There's a lot behind the scenes that goes into the final product, and you're only seeing the sum of learning that took me a week and a half of grinding to get. On the surface it looks easy, and spammy, and simple, I get it, but there's a lot of OTHER stuff, plus some luck, that allows me to make this video! I also mean this in the most respectful way. Go try and do this. If you attempt saed spam like this, you'll end up carting quick. He's not just spamming the same moves, he's very carefully manipulating flinch timings so make these moves available.

@@ShardtheWolf i mean yes I understand that but at the end of the day it really is just saed over and over, regardless of how skill intensive or big brain it is it doesn't change that it's still the same move being repeatedly used lol

Nah try playing it yourself you wont be able to spam that move like him speedruners fight the same monsters 100s of times and upload the best possible run this doesnt reflect actual gameplay
