'Mhaaro Charkho Bole Raam Naam' by Mooralala Marwada
Музыка
Welcome to the ulat (upside-down) world of Kabir! A daughter gives birth to her father. She asks for a husband who is unborn, otherwise threatens to marry her own father! A spinning wheel incessantly chants the name of Raam. Who is the girl? Which is the spinning wheel? And what is the art of spinning it well? These songs belong to the ulatbansi tradition of 15th century mystic poet Kabir. They may be encrypted with hidden spiritual meanings, and they certainly baffle our intellects, our rational, ordinary minds, asking us to delight in the absurd and the paradoxical.

It was a very special night for all of us in the Kabir Project-Srishti community in Bangalore in March 2009. We had just finished a week-long festive immersion in the music and ideas of Kabir to launch the films, CDs and books we had created over 6 years of work.
Mooralala ji was new to the gathering then, and listening to him here are singers Fariduddin Ayaz and Shafi Fakir from Pakistan, Prahlad Tipanya and Kaluram Bamaniya from Malwa and Mukhtiyar Ali from Rajasthan… all dear friends made over the course of our work and gathered here amidst faculty, advisors, friends and seekers for one last night of sharing and communion, graciously hosted by Tara, Prem and Nina Chandavarkar at their residence in Bangalore.
Perhaps the most striking quality of Mooralalaji’s singing is an irrepressible and infectious joy. He has an endearing habit of bursting into song when the inspiration strikes, no matter where he is… on the street, in a bus, or on the phone! Mooralala belongs to a lineage of Meghwal singers, who migrated from Rajasthan to Kutch about 300 to 400 years ago. Now settled in the village of Khadeer in Kutch, Mooralala says he’s an 11th generation singer, and that his ‘santaar’ (tambura) must be at least 130 years old. He moves with ease between nirguni bhajans, traditional folk songs and Sufiana kalaam. Contact Mooralala at +91-87585-51661

In one can convert all trees on this earth into paper and colors & water into ink, even then you cannot define Shri Mooralala ji, can listen to his voice entire life and remain inspired... The mixture of Kabir couplets with Rajasthani language are superb combination.

The lyrics of this song are Kabir's divine knowledge of rich and deep advaita vedanta non-dual philosophy. The girl is a seeker who is telling her human father to find her a mate who is unborn, ie who is God. Otherwise, it will be another round of samsara of being born again and again, where soul-relations of family keep coming back in new incarnations, sometimes as a father, sometimes as daughter. The one who spins (this world into existence) from the sky hangs the threads attaching to everyone in existence. I went to get the cotton-ginned means I went to get my world of dreams dyed in the worldly color, but I got gobbled by lover, God. Only the Guru told me what was happening to me. That my heart was crying only for God all along. Every human relation dies, only God is eternal. Says Kabir (who was all along role-playing as the girl in this song) ....listen to my plea everyone, my spinning wheel of life/world only sings the name of that one Eternal God.
