Suteerna Choudhury, BDS has no major connection with either MPH or MHA. So doing MPH or MHA will not help you in clinical dentistry. These are options for those who are planning to quit working on patients but are keen on staying in healthcare due to their BDS background. The starting salary is usually a package of 2.5 to 4 lakhs PER ANNUM. NOT MONTH. But there is career growth just like in dentistry. You should decide based on what your preference or career goals are. So knowing yourself is vital here. We wish you luck with your career. Take care :).

MPH means no more clinical practice. So it's not a back up option but a shift in career option. There are BDS practitioners who are successful. MDS is not compulsory. But first you need to first decide whether you want to dentistry or not. If not dentistry then look at all options which would suit you and then decide. Similarly, if you decide dentistry if you can't do MDS, don't stress. Learn clinical skills and set up your practice. You surely can specialise later by doing a fellowship or diploma. Again, first focus on the question dentistry or not.

Dual degrees are usually given by very few colleges. SRM university provides MBA and MPH. I am not aware of MHA and MPH dual degrees in India. Usually it is preferred to know which field you want to be in. So majority are single degrees. If you are aware of a college in India providing a dual degree of MHA and MPH do tell me.

Sorry didn't get your question. If you meant after BDS can you do allopathy practice. The answer is you can't. Dentists are not allowed to treat things other than dentistry or maximum treatments related to head face and neck.

Hi there is no major difference. For getting into MPH it is the same. You need to clear exams and interviews depending on the college you are trying. Finally hiring is based on how well you do in your MPH and the skills you develop.

Abroad since field work they prefer local population. India you have to be willing to work in rural areas if you want to do core mph. Many get into biostatistics aspect of it.

good morning sir , i have an mbbs degree and would like to pursue an MPH degree. i have done a lot of research online but i can not find what is the next step one should follow to become an epidemiologist for example after obtaining an MPH. i read most companies before hiring require at least some sort of experience. so what should a newly MPH graduate do to find a job having no field experience?

Yes you are right most of the top companies look for experience. You will how ever need to try and find smaller companies where they take young grads. To boost your resume you can add a epidemiology certificate or do some epidemiological study during your MPH. Then try publishing it. Or work for free or as intern during MPH to gain experience. This adds to your CV. Having a strong CV helps in job hunt.

You should do based on where you want to settle.. india and abroad Borg have scope in mha. But the problem of india is of course your income and standard of living won't rise as much as abroad. In India it is preferable to do a general MPH as compared to a more specific niche like nutrition. Reason is job opportunities are not very easy in specific niches. TISS and IIPH and manipal are good universities. Wish you luck 🙂👍🏻.

Currently migration to Canada is easier.. but do it abroad in the currently you planning to settle in.. For Canada you need to clear GRE for some universities. TOEFL or IELTS is compulsory for most universities. After that you can apply for MPH or MScPH. Usually it's a 20 month course full time. There are about a dozen Canadian universities providing them you have to go through each website to decide which one suits your budget and situation.

The goal of doing mds and mph is totally different. You have to first decide clinical or non clinical dentistry. Mph is no substitute for MDS. Substitute for MDS is general dentistry and later fellowship or msc program. Currently jobs are bit difficult in mph. You regretting it depends on what you would like. So it is important to know yourself.

Both are equally good. Jobs are little less in MPH currently. But will the status change or remain same is not predictable.

Usually mha graduates apply for those posts. But yes you can shift from out from core mph. You need to prove in the interview that you would do a good job in the hospital..

Hospital admin is more focused on hospital part that is operations, quality safety, marketing, planning.. In MBA (health care)more focus is on management and other aspects where as health care is taught a bit. In MHA (health admin) more focus is towards the health care aspect. This is how it ideally should be but if you see the course content of various universities you will see no major difference per se. There is no degree superior or inferior. Health care is slightly broader than hospital admin. But if you sure want to work in hospital and not any other healthcare field even hospital admin is good. Wish you luck 👍🏻.
