MFK L'Homme À la Rose + comparison to other MFK Roses | Review | Maison Francis Kurkdjian

Hey, dear friends! I was looking forward to trying out the new MFK L'Homme à la Rose as I don't necessarily view the rose as feminine. I also chat a bit about the other, "feminine" MFK roses. 🌹Xo Sam

*Fresh cut rose, sitting in vase water, small light note of citrus to brighten up the rose. That's all it is, no sweetness added. Sweetness added to rose makes it smell cheap & synthetic and i hate that! This frag is all natural smelling and i love it! I use this frag to layer with another linear single note frag (my secret) to pull back my scent masculine.*

Have seen it compared to Declaration d'un Soir, but haven't tried it myself. Fresh rose frags have never been my thing, but I suppose it's never too late to start! Thanks Sam! 💐

Just discovered your channel. Binging your old videos. LOVE! Love hearing you pronounce the names (in ways I cant😂). & I love that you constantly serve different lewks! Ugh. Yes Long term, I see you with your own fragrance line. Keep it niche and high quality, price it accordingly.. i’d give you all my coins.

Yeay! So happy to watch a new video by you! I love your channel, am new to it and have been binge watching. :) So happy to see your review on homme a la rose. I’ve been thinking of purchasing a la rose, I love it but now am thinking maybe I should get my nose on l’homme first. I love a la rose but do prefer scents that are “androgynous”, whatever that means. :)

Thanks for this great review! I just purchased this having never tested it. BECAUSE... Roses have a divine significance for me and are symbolic of otherworldly consciousness. Roses are nothing short of magic and are among my favorite things on Earth. All flowers are both feminine and masculine. So why should women get all the fun? Society is slowly breaking free from stereotypes and true fashion and fragrance is always at the vanguard of social evolution. I cannot wait to rock this scent. I have every faith in Francis. 🩰 🌹 ✨

Thank you, Michael. Ah yes, the Middle Eastern style roses are wonderful. Ormonde Jayne has nice versions of Ta'if. And the Roja Fortnum & Mason exclusive is one of my favs. If you mean Tobacco Rose by Papillon, then that is a lovely one as well. 🌹Xo Sam

I'm a 50+ year old man and I got this when sampling new fragrances and thought "Oh, that's much too floral for me." Then I put it on again ... and again ... and again. I guess part of me has become quite attached to it! I love "living in" the warm space it creates around me.

I have both MFK roses too 🌹 to your question, I think ppl need to chillax and let perfumers do whatever they want to do. I’m a straight female but love wearing Nike boys shoes, men’s tees, fav scents are Montabaco and Creation E pour homme. But I don’t feel the need to have brands gender bend or make everything gender neutral. If so, people shouldn’t refer to Delina as “she” but instead it or ze/zir/zem/zeir. There are over 60 gender identities. self expression is how you define yourself, not how others label you. I’m w Biden on “lowering the temperature” ✌️ ☮️

I do have a sample, not tried just yet. I hope our Francis is trying to change perceptions, and I guess one way to do it is like you say to have them labels and introduce people who refuse to see past the marketing to things they may never have tried... But it's still using the labels but then again at least he's doin something about it. For me I don't see who it's directed at anymore it's what smells good and suits you, be you you male, female or anyone in between. Fingers crossed that's the future and its long overdue

I guess Mr K (genius) splits the genders due to marketing pressure, perhaps the market is changing a little now though. I do love A La Rose, will need to try this new one at some point. Thanks for an interesting video :-)

I think FK started off very balanced. I found him soon after he 1st distributed in the US. I bought Aqua Universalis and Lumiere Pour Fem. I was given a ton of samples of Apom which I loved. At the time, I thought there was just 1 🤔 (I bought them in NYC, and not in my home area of California. I may have missed that). So, 2 were definitely for everyone, and Lumiere I think can be worn by a man. Possibly, over time, he adapted to the market and sales. I’m one of those people who think gender descriptions are useful. Men and women are both. I know many men who look for feminine scents because they think they are sexier, and match their taste better.

Thanks for sharing! Yes, it was definitely a sales technique. I think for people who are secure within themselves, it's not a problem, but most consumers hold back due to labels. Baccarat Rouge 540 was released gender-neutral, and became a wide success among both men and women, where I am certain many men would not have given it a try if the label had read "pour femme". 🌹Xo Sam

It's quite different... Rose 31 is a lot spicier - a "dirty" rose, if you will, where this is a fresh rose. Rose 31 has a stronger personality where this could be easily worn by most people. 🌹Xo Sam

The reason is market perfumes by gender is to make more money imo :D MFK was kind enough to send me a sample of this. It didn't work for me but i'm gladf to see a very well known brand approaching the genderless concept of florals.

Appreciate your opinion however it's definitely a male fragrance, the word homme literally means "a man" not unisex. You ladies have A La Rose and L'eau A La Rose let us have one to ourselves sheesh.
