BATTENS AND CREDIT CARD!! FANTASTIC! New foresail, new mainsail, new running rigging, radar up to snuff, hull spicky spik, engine room in order, helluva new generator, leaky ports and hatches mended, junk cut out and gone, new wiring, new bunk setup for Taj, fresh paint and mattress for Bella, new bowsprit, new brackets for all sorts of stuff welded and installed, soft deck spots excavated, repaired and sealed up!!! SO much done. Super proud of your family.

He's a tiny kitty. A cat on board will pay dividends down the road; great for mental health and against any invasive rodents.

Glad to see the credit card arrived and the bantons even if they are little long, better than a little short. 😊😊 Now to the rigging. Stay safe in the heat and storms.👍💯❤️⛵🇲🇽💦

Great to know that your credit card and the last kit you were waiting on have finally made it to you, must be a huge relief. Hey, Lee… I’m guessing that you’ve actually done it and just didn’t show it in the vid, because I know that you’re clued up, but the ocd sailing engineer in me couldn’t help noticing that the battens weren’t really radiused and smoothed on the cut ends when you tried them for fit. I know that you’ll have dressed them off and buffed them off-camera but I thought it could be helpful to highlight here for other viewers down the track, because I know that there may be a few relative novices that’ll see the vid and might not think the step ahead to understanding the wear and tear that an unkind batten end can inflict on a batten pocket. Really hope that you’ll not think of me as a smartarse for mentioning it, I have huge respect for the approach that you’ve taken to the refit and the vibe that you’ve been able to keep going to get you through being stuck as liveaboards on the hard for so long. Amongst a number of refits over the years I did 5 months of similar pain right through the height of summer in a yard on Sardinia a few years ago and it was a whole bucket of suck… Black boat, aircon ripped out, barely enough power supply to run a fan and have a fridge functioning at the same time as using power tools, all on an immaculate but horrendously hot brick paved spot right in the middle of the yard, without any nearby boats to cast a shadow on us because we were doing some pretty extensive structural work involving a lot of fibreglass grinding and weren’t exactly popular with the neighbours. Not my boat, I was paid crew/engineer, it made me seriously question my choice of career for a while. You’ve done Catalpa proud and endured some far less than ideal conditions for longer than planned to achieve it. Hat’s off to you for sticking to your standards, not everyone does when it gets tough. Here’s to the splash… Cheers! R. 😎👍🍻

Hi guys! I'm 64 and I have cohabited with cats for most of my life, but never on a boat. In '77 a mate and I did a trip around Australia in a ute with his dog, Bo, heading north from the Gold Coast and we picked up a kitten from a shelter in Darwin. For us, of course, toileting wasn't a problem but we did have a makeshift litter tray in the cabin for emergencies when he was little. Definitely not the preferred option!💩😹😖 You guys are admirably resourceful and I am certain you will find a workaround for that. Another point I wanted to make, in case you haven't thought of it, is that your little fella is a colour that would be almost impossible to see should he go for a swim in deep water, a scenario two traumatic to contemplate. A harness and leash might be an option. I've seen other yachties travelling with pets on YT (though none with cats as yet) and there must be forums where you can pick up some advice. Also, I would get him desexed ASAP; male cats mark their territory in a very specific way and you don't want to be hunting down a spray somewhere in the cabin too often! In my experience, desexing doesn't always stop them but at least the smell isn't nearly as bad. Anyway, once you have adjusted to having him, I'm sure you will not regret taking him on board. Ps, Sooty, the little fella we picked up in Darwin survived the trip and lived till he was 20!

Mexico is so colorful, makes the US seem drab. Love the cat (achoo), competing with Bella for cuteness. I still like Lord Greystoke from the Edgar Rice Burroughs series of Tarzan. You know, being part of the family!

I’m interested to know what you think of that inboom sail? My boat had one which the original owner ceased using it after six months and converted it to a slab sail. . . . . Ah, just got to the bit in the video when you talk about it ✅ yeah, pain in the ass. They are notorious for failing.

Sorry not a cat fan. Being an Aussie and the damage, they have done to native wildlife not keen on them. Remember you don't control a cat it controls you. May cause problems booking into some countries.
