    Thank you. As a white guy living in California I started shopping where Hispanics shopped thinking these ladies knew where the best prices were. It exposed me to unfamiliar brands/products. Now I have Mexican Hawthorne (Tecajotas?)growing in my yard & harvest Prickly Pears from my pasture. I encourage everyone to follow your lead & sense of adventure.

    Those are Chicano supermarkets, not Mexican supermarkets. Here in Mexico supermarkets don't look like "Mexican supermarkets" from the U.S. We don't have donkey figures and sombreros all around decorating the inside of the supermarkets here and we also don't have loud, ugly music playing inside the supermarkets. I don't know why Hispanics in the U.S. are that way. I went some time ago to the U.S. and visited one of those supermarkets and the decoration inside the place was so ridiculous! They had like sombreros and donkey figures decorating the inside of the store and also the outside was painted with so many striking colors... It was too colorful. That's not the way supermarkets in Mexico look like. I don't know why Hispanics in the U.S. develop that kind of culture. Supermarkets in Mexico look like regular American supermarkets, like Walmart, Kroger's, Alberstons etc. I think those U.S. "Mexican supermarkets" look more like what we call tianguis here in Mexico, which is basically kind of like a flea market.

  • @alex8353339

    @alex8353339

    They can't be more Mexican than real Mexican supermarkets from Mexico... If you have ever been to a Mexican supermarket here in Mexico, you would know the way those "Mexican supermarkets" from the U.S. look is in no way an accurate reflection of Mexican culture in any way. You aren't holding tight to anything but an ugly stereotype created by Hollywood about Mexican culture and way of living. The kind of culture Hispanics develop in the U.S. just reinforces that erroneous and ugly stereotype that people from the U.S. has about Mexican culture and way of living. That's not the way things are here in Mexico. You Hispanics in the U.S. need to stop making us look that way by promoting that kind of image and making people think that Mexico has the same kind of culture you people are developing in the U.S.

    Dora Rigel. I'm not sure where you're from but most Mexicans who migrated to the US come from impoverished agricultural towns in Mexico. Ive shopped in various local stores in Mexican towns like the ones I've described and they look just like the ones in the video. The colorful exteriors and everything, minus the donkeys and hats. Although to be fair I haven't seen any of those in Mexican American stores in the US either. I've also shopped in bigger cities in Mexico and they look like the "American" groceries in the US. The people here in the US must not have lived in the part of Mexico you're from.

  • @fcplop98

    @fcplop98

    Dora Rigel. I also understand where you're coming from since I've had family members come from small isolated towns in Mexico who are appalled at how some tacky music only drunk men would listen too is considered over here in the US the epitome of Mexican music. Even her little town was more globalized than some Mexican Americans she met. Since then I've come to realize that a lot of those "tacky" people here are often from regions of Mexico where patriotism is more ingrained in their culture(like southerners in the US). On top of that, they miss their country of origin and often times they can never go back, so those aspects of Mexican culture is what they have left of their own heritage. Mexico is a lot more globalized now and their culture is constantly evolving, especially in the big cities, so I can understand why you don't like that most Americans don't know that. But that isn't Mexican Americans job to depict what Mexico looks like to Hollywood and Americans. Blame the people with those misconceptions instead.

    Dora Rigel Cmon buddy, you are getting off the subject she is explaining it to a certain audience, didn't you see the beginning? Oh, y no seas buey, I can almost assure you it wasnt a hispanic americans decision on the sombreros and donkeys. Its called marketing, thats what all the bright colors are for. Anyways who gives a crap, Ill still go in the store. Ive been in the stores in Mexico, I love it when the ladies are giving samples of tequila or other drinks. Also been to the ones that are in small towns, if you didnt know youd mistake it for someones house. Stop misinforming. a tianguis is like an outdoor swapmeet. Just relax and enjoy the video.

The wrong word "Tecojote" includes "Te cojo" that means "I fuck you". I know is a mistake in the video and is not important, but I had to comment it XD.

    NELSON J No, that just means they're not arguing with people from what they believe in. You just said "attack" okay, chill out! No one is forcing religious beliefs on you. And if they ever do, you can tell them to stop. Also, "amount of wars religion has created" Everything is causing war haha. Religion has been going on for centuries, if you don't believe in a god..okay, great! Don't. What ever you feel comfortable with. However, telling people "there is no god" is disrespectful, because 99.9% of the time, they're not going to believe you. Just have respect, please.

    Galilea Hernandez offense is not given but taken and i criticized OP' s ideas not himself. Is also disrespectful for me to hear the word God being tossed around as the ultimate goodness when is obviously the opposite of goodness. "everything is causing war" sure but religion has more to do than any other thing and is quite possible that they are the initial cause. if you or the OP doesn't like my comment, you have the right to report it, but I will not bend over because people should keep their religious nonsense to themselves, otherwise I wouldn't have said anything.

    It saddens me that people feel so uncomfortable around other human beings that are just slightly different from them. As you've said, we have so much to learn from one another. I wish I had Mexican supermarkets near me! I live in Upstate New York, and while we have a large variety of authentic Puerto Rican restaurants and empanada shops, there are no exclusively hispanic grocery stores anywhere near where I live. Instead, we have the grocery giant Wegmans that sells a wide variety of hispanic dry goods and produce along with the typical "stuff white people want". This serves as a great opprotunity for cultural intermingling and trying new things without stepping too far out of the comfort zone. I just wish I had a place to try more Mexican and South American sweets! At least I'm blessed with a huge selection of Chinese grocery stores. Those are so much fun to visit. The language barrier takes nothing away from the experience. Thank you for making this video. I hope it has inspired (and continues to inspire) people to overcome their apprehensions and submerse themselves in other cultures.

    Yes we are. And instead of building a fence, we should be tearing down these stupid barriers and allow more Mexican people to enter into the USA.

    You're so accepting. I LOVE that you're not racist at all. I personally find it offensive when white people go into my neighborhood's markets and try to humble us or degrade us because our products are different. I like how open minded you are and yes eventhough we have different products we also have MANY of the same things white/caucasians consume.

    ***** Most of them are jobs other people don't want to do, such as dishwasher and housekeeping especially if the pay is minimum wage. There are a lot if jobs out there but a lot of them are seen as "too demanding" for some people and refuse to perform those jobs. so don't come here with that BS that illegals take all the jobs you are just too lazy to work in those jobs.

    Francisco Chavez Choco Roles are similar to chocolate fudge rolls, fashioned with pineapple jelly and cream. They're best served cold. Talking of which: how can we forget about Pingüinos? Those little choco muffins with a fine layer of chocolate glaze, filled with cream. They need to sell those too!
