Especially when you take into consideration that Isabella was closer with Ray than with any other kid due to their cooperation and knew about him being her biological son. Despite that when he set himself on fire (or she tought so) she only cared about his brain.

That's why she looks at them and smiles admitting she lost because she knew she'd die once HQ found out. She encouraged them. And if you read the manga there was a little more but I dont want to spoil if you havent

Isabella is such a complicated character that I think your lyrics can either be interpreted as what she really thinks about her children, or just what she lies to them and even herself to justify her acts

@@mewsic Her actions are inexcusable, but I love how well the backstories are made not just by her short flashback but also by the circumstances of this world. Growing up in that environment and realizing that her own "mother" likely never saw her as anything but cattle that she had to raise perhaps made her just have to accept her fate and go along with it. To make matters more complicated, with Ray being her actual biological child, perhaps one reason she kept him close as her "spy" was also so that she could give him items that might make him a bit happier that they normally can't have and also to spend more time with him not as a facade, even if her true self is pretty cold. Such a deep set of characters.

well i mean she can't do anything else it's either them or her and then when she gets killed or "replaced" there will still come a new "mother", i legit cried for at least 20 min when we saw her back story and how quickly she was replaced.

I think she really loved them in her own twisted way, once she realized that the kids knew what was going on she kept trying to get them to give up escaping, telling them to accept there fate and enjoy what little time they had this was her way of showing love. When she tired to escape she was by herself she couldnt get pass that cliff and gave up hope of leaving she became a mom to survive. She knows their world is cruel and all she wanted was her survival and to give the kids who wouldnt survive the best life she could.

(ಥ﹏ಥ) Me at the moment. What Isabella did to herself and the children can't be measured with right and wrong. Everyone who condemned her selfishness seems to forget her situation is waaay different than Emma. As terrible as it is, neither Isabella nor Krone lied they were living the best life they can have for themselves. Why? Other than this choice, it's just death with their dignity as a human intact. As noble as it is, they would be dead. By the end of the day, no one wants to live the way they do if there's other choice that's not death. She can't even love her children normally no matter how much she wish for it. Should she save them? No, in case you all forget even the trio face near impossibility of living outside of their wall as a free human. This series always impose a question that put the characters between a rock and a hard place, and Isabella had answered with hers. A lone girl who has lost almost everything but herself and a melody, she can only continue to live to spite the demon who took everything away from her. So she loves and care for the children who still hold the hope she has lost, and in the end she give herself a last reprieve, praying and loving those children for real. She turned back to a mother and a human instead of a herder.

Norman had his intelect, tuned as the finest instrument and managed with the finesse of one. Emma had her skills, toned trough constant practice and the brilliant talent of a diamond. Ray had his determination, sharpneded as a sword, wielded as the most letal of knifes. Isabella had all of that and more to spare, but she was alone.

I remember when I found out about her regretting what she does along with only doing it for survival, I thought of different ways she could have avoided it... but if you really think about it... she couldn’t avoid it. All she could do was keep them happy until the end. If they escaped, she got in trouble. If she went with them, she would die. She tried to avoid giving them up, I’m sure the demons would kill her and change the mother of the house. If she refused, and someone else did it, they could’ve ended up with someone who truly doesn’t care about them and only gives them what they need, like true livestock. Isabella did what she could, but she also had to think about her survival along with keeping them happy for as long as possible.

The amount of depth they gave to isabellas character in the last episode was amazing. She went from an evil stepmother type of character to a tragic victim of a cruel system. Even tho she perpetuated the cycle of feeding children to demons, she had no other choice. She tried to escape but couldn't so it was either join them or die. Choosing survival is nothing to be ashamed of. She's a victim forced to become a part of the same evil system that took her own friends and family away from her. Deep down she actually does care for the children and only ships them out because if she doesn't then she'll likely be killed

I like to think that Isabella was always telling the truth, and technically never lied. Before they knew about the true nature of the house, she was always being true. Even when she tried to get them to come back, despite sounding manipulative, her words were all how she genuinely felt. The house may have been the only 'happy life' they could have in pure blissful ignorance; something she lost long ago.

I actually already know from the start that Isabella is not that bad because she even hug conny's drawing.

Isabella was my low-key fav character 😔

Isabella had Emma's strength and Norman and Ray's intelligence but she was alone. She's like an another version of Emma who gave up early. Her actions are not justified but she's not a cruel person from inside. If you see her backstory she had also suffered just as much as Emma ray and Norman. This lullaby is the only thing the demons won't be able to snatch from her.

After reading the manga(spoilers): the lyrics hit different if it's "Oh my dear children, I love you and I hope you see. No matter what comes or when 'I' must leave. That I still love you, and hope that you're happy today. I pray that you'll remember." Isabella is honestly probably one of the most tragic characters in TPN, if not the most tragic. She truly did love her children and it did hurt her to send them off. She was tired of "killing" all of these children. In the end, the children still loves her and Isabella even helped them. But what was tragic was that even after all of that, I wanted her to have a happy future in the human world... but she got killed protecting her children instead. It saddens me really... the whole manga just made me cry so many times QwQ

I don't know why, but this song just made me realize how lonely I am. But I'm glad that this song keeps me company.

I've heard another version of the lyrics to this song, but this one is more from Isabella's modern perspective as a Mom, and I really do love how its done that way. It makes me think about the evolution and how this song has changed over time while completing staying the same.

Isabella was not antagonist. She's a person who wants to love the children normally. Only showing them love to the point the children will forget the pain and will only dream a sweet eternal dreams.

She is on account of the fact that an an antagonist is defined as a character who creates conflict for the protagonists. Antagonists aren't always evil, though.

The fact that she's humming this to the Children when escorting them to be harvest is really heartbreaking but at the same time Heartwarming

I bet Leslie's proud.

Honestly, I think Isabella is one of the most relatable villains. Like, put yourself in that situation. You found out you're actually food for demons, you lost your family, friends, siblings, maybe even your crush. Most of us would probably think to survive, and so become a mama.

A line that was cut from the anime, but still deserves recognition that Isabella says: 'I wish I could have loved them normally.'

today is the day that chapter 176 came out and it's mother's day SPOILER!!!! RIP mama isabella

Isabella did the right thing! She has nothing to do. Everyone wants to survive. She felt that,,how painful the situation is when she has to send her kids to demons plate. but in reality she loved her every kid... In the end of The story she confessed that, she loved her every childern.... Promised neverland is that kinda story where villains have also their own pain, own reasons because of that they are doing all these. this story is really heart touching :))))

This is so beautiful yet sad at the same time. Nice work on the lyrics, helps to show how Isabella really did care for the children. Gosh that last episode got me, I think I experienced every emotion possible. Beautiful work as always.

This is kind of heartbreaking. in the last ep she showed she actually loved these children and even hoped they would avoid the cruelty of the outside world, instead of calling the gaurds to chase after them. (dont hate isabella for not defending the kids and working for the demons, she did it for survival even tho it pains her.)

Ahhh!!!! This is so beautiful! Isabella is a really complex character, I mean, somewhere deep inside she loved the children, but she got herself mixed with the lies she was telling herself to survive, and her true feelings. She was brainwashed and did what she did for survival, but it makes me really sad when I think of what she’s gone through. In that twisted world there was no other way, and she could only lessen the children’s pain by giving them a happy few years. It was the most she could do to keep herself alive and to try help the kids. This anime is so sad... It’s the first anime I’ve cried.

I don't know but I've always knew that Ray and Isabella had a strong connection... I come to find out Ray's Isabella's son

This made me cry so hard! My childhood was very rough and my mother was very violent and sadistic in nature. All we wanted was to be loved and accepted by her our whole life, but never to receive it. We surely are flowers that bloomed in the thorns despite everything. But every lyric of this song hit all the heartstrings.

I think Isabella just want tp make the chileren's lives as happy and peaceful as possible before they have to die. She makes that decision for them, because she thinks it's the only way they'll ever be happy at all, and she is a good mother in that period of time. I absolutely love her character and the complexity that people who just hate her seem to miss. Isabella herself is a victim öf this world, maybe selfish for continuing that job instead of dying, and she gave up way too soon because she was alone back then... All I can say is, I understand her amd she is an amazing and complex character..

I saw "lyrics" and I was like "uuuuuugh no please" but I checked out of curiosity... and it's so impressive how you did that. Truly, Isabella is a complicated character, she loves them but at the same time she can't love them the way she wants to. Your lyrics are beautiful and adapted to children (I mean, I can imagine her singing it to Conny just before they arrived to the gate) and your voice's like and angel's one. Thank you for making me so wrong about my first impression !

Mama Isabella is the most precious mother special in manga and the anime. Loyal to her children and puts up her act to the very end. Inside she love the children as her own and is sad when the harvarse but doesn’t shows it. She lit the man she fell in love but keeps his song in his heart. Ray remember the precious song his mother say to him. Isabella was lucky to reunite with her biological son.
