Mets vs Braves Highlights: Tyler Naquin slugs pair of HRs in Citi Field debut as Mets top Braves
Спорт
Making his Mets home debut, Tyler Naquin homered twice as New York held off the Braves 6-4. Pete Alonso and Daniel Vogelbach also went deep, going back-to-back in the third inning. Carlos Carrasco delivered another strong performance, despite seeing his scoreless streak come to end at 22.2 innings. Edwin Diaz posted his first six-out save of the season, getting Orlando Arcia on a check swing groundout in the ninth inning to end it.

Take the win now - this ensures that no matter what goes down the next 4 games, the Mets will still lead the division.

@@raspect2974 I am confident that we will win the Scherzer and DeGrom games, and 75% sure we would win last nights game (Carrasco has solidified himself as a dependable #3 starter), my worries are tonights and the tail end game of the double header.

@@seekingtruthnwisdom5552 I know SNY booth didn't really like the move, but I say take the win when you can get the win. There are no assurances we might even need Diaz tomorrow. Diaz hasn't pitched in 6 days up to this point. Take the wins :)

They could have sent Carrasco out to start the 7th (he only threw 89 pitches through 6 innings tonight) and then brought in Ottovino. Could've stretched things out more so that Diaz didn't have to pitch 2 innings.
@cutycatgo7
Жыл бұрын
@optimus2g Buck wanted no one else but Diaz to face Swanson, Olson, Riley in that 8th inning. So regardless of Carrasco going back to pitch the 7th inning, it wouldn't matter. Buck was not going to let Ottavino to pitch the 8th inning to face those hitters.

Biggest win of the season. Mets have a good chance to take 4 out of 5 with Walker, Scherzer, degrom set to pitch this weekend.
I love the different High 5s Pete has with each of his teammates. Check out the one with th e 3rd base coach and also Vogelbach. Great to see them having fun again. Thanks Buck
Excited for October LGFM

Diaz is having a hell'uv a season
I SHOULD BE ON THAT LINE UP.. team is deep and Talented all the way. Most position changes ever and still lead league Never heard of that
If Vogelbach, Naquin and Ruf keep producing, I'm going to owe Billy Eppler a huge apology. We'll see how the rest of the season unfolds but right now, he's looking like a genius with the low-key moves.
PUT IT IN THE BOOKS
Shades of 69 Mets, magical vibe with underdog personality
Amazing game. We really are a complete team. All we need is to stay healthy and 2-3 big relievers to step big besides Diaz and Ottovino. I hope Lugo, May and Givens are those guys. Then we can win a championship.

So Many Sugar Cubes to consider for THIS Cup of Coffee!! But the best SUGAR was at the End..... Have to say, it was getting a bit dicey with that 3-0 count with a man on 1st base , 2 outs. But Diaz is just having that magical season which Champions experience. The lefty bats acquired are making Billy look like a Genius. I had no Clue about Vogelbach or Naquin, but both are looking like integral parts to the team. Naquin is very soft spoken, low key. At least for now.

Vogalbach to back
Gonna be hard to win it all without reliable BP. Shoulda pulled the trigger for Robertson!
Only Gary and Keith bringing it up appropriately, but when Luis G., makes the plays in any place on the infield, they refer to him as Los Manos !! It's been some time to see a fileder this "smooth" on the Mets!! The only Cog in the Chain is at Catcher. Looking like Nido is better than McCann at the plate!!
If u had an arm like David Robertson, u wouldn’t need Diaz for a 2 in save, he’s goin to be tired by October
since June 1st the Braves are 40-16 but only 19 of those games were against teams that are currently over .500 and their record is 9-10 ... 31- 6 against bottom feeders XD
Walker needs to be careful in the first inning tonight. Braves will be aggressive looking to jump on him early. Look for some first pitch swinging from the Braves.
Stil second!! We the best!! LFGM!!🎉
Edwin Diaz that bou can play PHILLY ALEEK 😎

Edwin diaz kinda lost in in the 9..there...
DIAZ FOR 6 OUTS. It worked for one game, but it is a BAD IDEA. There are a few reasons. FIRST: Diaz is not a freak of nature or a machine, but an athlete, and he will be SUSCEPTIBLE TO MISTAKES before the Mets run to a playoff title is complete if he is REPEATEDLY ASKED FOR MORE THAN 3 OUTS. That means 1-2 blown saves in the post-season, and those are hard to recover from. See Famiglia in 2015 who was used for multiple 4 out saves in the post season and became fallible before the Mets could post a world series game win. Within 2 years he was yesterday’s news and dispensed with. SECOND: It is not ok to let this happen to Diaz. Since their treatment of PEDRO, the Mets have a well-deserved reputation for playing fast and loose with their roster of athletes. They also have a deserved reputation as being a place where your career can implode. Diaz has passed through this crucible and is now a symbol of success under the Mets care. If they play fast and loose with his talents, the Mets will throw away this progress and discourage the majority of baseball veterans and all-stars from coming here.

Except the Mets bright back Familia for FOUR more years after he left for a year in 2018. and geez you this worked up over ONE 6 out game for Diaz. At least wait till it's a common occurrence to go all crazy. It was a successful night. Just enjoy the win. Stop acting like this is the same team as last year or any year. This team is built much different then previous years. Ease up a bit hoss.
