Minus Vargas, our pitching staff looks pretty solid. Matz and Wheeler got better as the season went on, deGrom is always on point, and as long as Noah is healthy all season, we may have a playoff quality team. Just need to sign some bats (Cespy will probably be out until late May/early June the EARLIEST) and relievers this offseason.

In a crappy 2018 season,you were by far the brightest spot on this team..This CY award could not have happened to a more humble guy who takes the mound every 5th day,and despite horrible defense And one of the worst offenses who have blown many gems pitched by deGrom his dermeanor never changed... A true pro's pro..At the end of the day,I'm so proud he's on our side as a NY Met. #48 the 🐐 2018 NL CY award winner...LGM!

He should have been in the MVP conversation. Even though wasn't a bad year for batters.

My mom got to see doc gooden in ‘85. I got to see Jacob degrom in ‘18. One of the only things consistent for the Mets this year was Jacobs intensity and his dominance. I’m really glad I got to see every one of his games this year. It’s just a shame it was filled with so many upsets. Looking forward to next season for sure

Chris Stein Dwight Gooden 1985 season. Probably the greatest pitching campaign of the modern era.

Dwight Gooden in 1985 pitches 276 innings (to Pedro’s 213) and had and ERA that was over a half a run lower. He threw 16 complete games (8 shutouts)to Pedro’s 5. Pedro’s WHIP was a little better but the hat tip goes to Dwight as greatest campaign of the modern era. Oh yea....Dwight’s WAR was 12.8 compared to Pedro’s 9.8. Pedro’s 1999 season was amazing (as was 2000), but in totality, Dwight edges him.

This is deserved but I’m surprised it was such a blowout. Scherzer’s 300 strikeouts is remarkable with a 2.53 era. He is the best pitcher in the game at the moment.

Kershaw had 300 K's in 2015 and didn't win, so 300 isn't a guarantee either.

I'm a die-hard Mets fan,and yes Sherzer is an incredible pitcher and was definitely close behind for that CY award,but degrom just went on to have historically better season.. Way lower era,29 straight starts of 3 runs or less Ect..Not to take anything from Scherzer,but this was absolutely deGroms for the taking..

stanley yelnats nah. Unless degrom can do what scherzer has done the past 3 years. Scherzer has been great the past 3 seasons and has been getting better with each year. At the moment he is still the best.

I am surprised that it was not more controversy with the lack of wins that Mr. De Grom has (I think the lowest win total for a non relief pitcher)ever for a Cy Young winner. De Grom was the best pitcher in the NL in 2018. With that said, I know I might be blasted for saying this, but at same time, in the future even for relief pitchers, all winners should have a winning record. PS if The current Mets Owners the Coupons don't want to sign him to a long term my favorite team based in the Bronx would love to sign him and be our ace for next few years lol.

Well deserved not his fault Mets have shit offense. I even saw him steal a base in LA I think. And the next batter struck out. He did everything he could to excel despite knowing his team would lose for him.

0:23 Hype Harper is the most overrated player in baseball. Jake gets him out anytime he wants You can't be great if you have huge holes in your swing, or are easy to pitch to. Harper takes advantage of #4 and #5 pitchers. Against Jake, he's worthless, and he wants $300M? The Nats are the only team dumb enough to give him that much
