As he pushed his velocity up to 100 mph, his body broke down. If he had kept his fastball in the mid-90s and mixed his pitches with an effective slider and changeup, he could have been a long-time ace pitcher like Verlander or Scherzer. Meanwhile, the amazing performance he showed during his prime time with the Mets was a great joy for me as a Mets fan.

Give Mariano Rivera the ability to throw more than one inning, a sick slider and change-up and you have Jake deGrom.
