Mets 3B Brett Baty explains his 'stronger top hand' fix at the plate to SNY's Todd Zeile | SNY

Спорт

On Mets Hot Stove, third baseman Brett Baty tells SNY's Todd Zeile he's made a key adjustment at the plate heading into the 2024 season. Baty: "The big thing was working on my top hand and getting it stronger, so I can get the barrel more out front."

This is the best thing Todd Zeile has ever done. Wickedly informative. Thank you for no awful SNY background music. :-)

Kudos to Todd and Brett, Todd should do more of this for the fans if possible, The video gives fans a microcosm of what goes on between hitters and various coaches is my assumption.

@@joebriggs5781 they rushed him. They’ve done that with so many. Conforto should’ve been better, Matz should’ve had more time. Never mind high picks like Desmond Lindsay who were supposed to be great & never worked out. This team’s farm system has always been weak in development

If the work this off season clicks for Brett, watch out, because he is going to become a power to all fields all star. Great segment Todd, do more! And you were a great hitter back in the day. Even in your upright stance. ☺LGM!

The most important key to hitting is ur hands , keep them in the right position pre swing , high and bat at 45 deg., , make sure u throw ur hands at the ball, top hand isn't very important it's more abt comfortability. If u watch Trea Turner he swings the bat w his hands primarily. Basically all Hands , throwing the bat thru the Zone, quick hands is what I'm going for , Speed w Bat comes from Hands Wrists , not the ARMS ,

Bret Baty has to improve in three areas: he has to improve his defense, cut down his strikeouts, improve hitting lefthanded pitchets.

He needs to improve as a hitter, as a defender, and as a baserunner. He's literally not good at anything in baseball.

I’ll be the first one to say it… Mets messed up this man’s swing.. he went from gap to gap to upper cutting everything.. I know he’s being professional about this but Mets messed up his swing

Not really . He's never been a solid hitter. He just wasn't facing Major League pitching. The flaws that can get away with in lower levels get exposed in the Big leagues. Professional Baseball is way harder than other Professional sports sometimes people don't appreciate this .
