    Is the copper going to pay his fine for running a red light? didn't think so....this is bullying and disgraceful driving! i have had a cop car blasting its bullhorn behind me so i literally got out and knocked on window and told him you do know its illegal right for me to run a red light even for the police? got back in and waited for it turning green! Whatever anyone says you do not have to move out the way for any blue lights if your at red lights or have no where to go and you wont be able to use this excuse when they fine you for it. - Running red lights even for a ambulance or police = illegal - Driving up pavement = illegal Going to court and saying "oh but the police officer held his horn for me to move" wont get you out of it, if they care so much about getting to a incident maybe they shouldn't make it illegal to move for them and with cost of living and inflation who wants to be paying fines simply because a copper is given a siren to play with. Quite funny to be honest they add all these cameras and laws to catch us then have the police going around bullying us into breaking them so they can fine us for it! and for the people saying oh you wont be fined as its for a cop car you have no idea what your even talking about.

    Had the driver crashed he would have been charger with driving offences. Aside from, the fact met have signed up to blue light aware which says they won't bully people through red lights! Your supposed to have the vehicle under systematic control not getting air as it's out of control. But it looks good in fast furious movies. It's called red mist when drivers take risks to far to get where they are going and getting there is more important than safety

    It's not about hating but rather dangerous driving. Just because people like myself are ERD trained, it does not mean we're allowed to be reckless and endanger the public. He nearly crashed the vehicle. Would have been low impact but still. Bullied a vehicle through a red light, which is not allowed and would be failed on a ERD test for and at one point two wheels are off the road... that's not being in control of the vehicle.

Whilst I agree it probably doesn't give a good impression, and is slightly more dangerous, it's hardly fair to say "he nearly crashed"... when he didn't even come close. Two wheels came off the ground momentarily as he was straightening back up, it's not as if they came off the ground as he went round a sharp bend....

    @Jordan being ex police and having been involved in advance driver training it’s a term that covers mindset. What I mean is, you don’t allow red mist or a feeling that getting to the scene is the most important factor. The safety of your vehicle and members of the public are the most important thing. Crashing an emergency vehicle is a big deal and costs a lot more than ensure a high degree of safety is the primary goal. If you crash a rapid response vehicle it affects the ability of the service to provide care

    @billesh55 Well, now that I think about it, does using the horn count as a police officer ordering someone to contravene a red traffic signal? It should be noted that in Germany, you are legally required to contravene any traffic law that may prevent you from giving way to an emergency vehicle. This is because German law places lights and sirens above all other traffic laws.

    The orange Asterisk is on the roof.... which identifies it as an ARV to any helicopter. You'll also notice on police vehicles they have numbers on top, these are known as "Force identifier codes", I'm serving in the Met, and we use both 01 and 02, so any car with those on the roof will be a Met vehicle. Other counties use other numbers... The shapes, i.e triangle, square, circle, asterisk etc identify the type of vehicle, and are found on the roof, firearms vehicles are almost always X5's nowadays, in the Met anyway, and those that are ARV's will have yellow circular decals in the top right and left corners of the windscreen and the rear window typically. They will have an orange asterisk on the roof as well as the PNC force identifier code of 01. You're thinking it's not a firearms vehicle because it has yellow circles in the windows, a normal response car will have an orange circular shape on the roof, but won't display anything other than the three letters in the rear windows, firearms vehicles display an orange asterisk on the roof PLUS yellow circular decals in the front and rear windows typically. If you see a Met X5, without the yellow circular decals, then it's more than likely a traffic vehicle, especially if it's fitted with a towbar. The old station I used to parade out of at one point had a BMW X5 as the area car, as a replacement for the BMW 330d's we used to have, this was a hybrid/electric version of the X5 which the Met were trialling at the time. Most stations now, for borough response teams, use BMW 530i's or 530d's for their area cars.

    Emma Barnes The driver driving this car underwent intensive training to drive at those speeds. It's a firearms squad; they respond to the most serious of calls where someone's life is in immediate danger. As such, they need to be able to get to an incident ASAP.

    Emma I understand where you’re coming from, however this is an ARV as mentioned above, they’re advanced drivers (pursuit, T pack, tactical contact trained etc). Depending on what they’re responding to (let’s say an active shooting), then their manner of driving is highly likely to be justifiable compared to a mobile phone being stolen.

  • @thefiestaguy8831

    @thefiestaguy8831

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yawn. So because you say you're an emergency response driver yourself, you think you can criticise an advanced driver? Do you know how intensive an advanced driving course is? Colleagues of mine who are advanced drivers have been known to reverse around a right angle corner with parked cars on both sides at 40 miles per hour and keep good control. I've been in a pursuit whereby the driver has gone through a width restriction barrier at 70+ miles an hour..... the standard required is very high. Whilst I'll agree he took more risks than most drivers would have done, I wouldn't deem it fair to say that he "nearly crashed" as you suggested in another comment or that he needs "Retraining" and had "Red mist", red mist is more common in pursuits or foot chases, neither of which apply here. I doubt this was red mist, more of an urgent call....

  • @marknorville9827

    I would love to know from someone who is a serving driver or an ex driver, if this was actually legal. Firstly, he mounted the pavement and then obviously went down the road against on coming traffic. I would possibly say that this might be illegal even for an emergency shout. The only thing that a police car can do and get away with, is if they hit your wing mirrors, or cause minor damage to your car, they can drive off. If it is a more serious accident, then they have to stop. However, I cannot see this being legal. I will also call this clickbait as well, as he was NOT at insane speed, due to the traffic. The officer even locked up his wheels breaking, You can see the lock up at 0:18.

  • @henrymatthews931

    @henrymatthews931

    3 жыл бұрын

    All emergency vehicle can make use of the exemptions of not following directional signs, i.e. keep left, as this officer did by driving oncoming. It's not clearly stated that emergency vehicles can mount the pavement, but as long as the officer can justify his reasoning, i.e. it was a threat to life call, where sitting in traffic would possibly jeopardise the response time. These exemptions he exercised, with reasonable grounds, would avoid criminal conviction, but civil action can be taken if anyone was to be injured. It's clear it was a high priority call as he made the Mercedes run the red light when in regular low priority calls, he would sit and wait with sirens off.

  • @thefiestaguy8831

    @thefiestaguy8831

    3 жыл бұрын

    Of course they are... I'm serving, not a "Trained driver", basic, A to B only, but even I know that they can make use of exemptions, including going against the flow of traffic, it's been done thousands of times on response runs, and firearms drivers are all advanced drivers, which is the highest level there is, response drivers (which is the level below) are allowed to do it, so these guys most certainly are. Ultimately the justification should any collision occur, whether it be with another vehicle or a pedestrian, lies with the driver, so it's up to them.
