Metropolis (2001) MV・There'll Never Be Goodbye

Фильм және анимация

The making of METROPOLIS: • Metropolis [2001] - Th...
Burning, always light
slowly melting to the sky
Sparkles in your eyes
aglow
Cold and heartless walls
and never-ending sighs
When you held me close
we’re gone
I'd have never known
if you had never shown
someday I'd have wings to fly
But who'd ever dream these arms
were meant to break
so I must go
before you see me fall
I recall sweet enchanted days
Your smile
chased the clouds away
Old fragments of a memory survive
shining in the moonless night
Lifetime is a match
a momentary flash
yet this forever remains
You are in my heart
until my heart's not mine
so remember
this never is goodbye
I recall sweet enchanted days
Your smile
chased the clouds away
Old fragments of a memory survive
shining in the moonless night
Stay close to my soul
like you're close to my hands
Darling if I fade away
You are in my heart
until my heart's not mine
so I must go
before you see me fall
So remember
this never is goodbye
Please remember
there'll never be goodbye

In the Japanese version, there is an end credit still shot where Kenichi had somehow rebuilt Tima, and the two had set up a Robot Repair shop.

On the surface level, Tima is modelled after some 12-year old girl. But on an emotional level, you can't help associating things like betrayal, heartbreak, sadness and loss (especially in the climatic scenes).

With A.I. Artificial Intelligence, the filmmakers said that androids are basically people but with wafer circuitry instead of flesh and blood. I would be so happy if Metropolis came out again in theatres, it would blow so many other movies out of the water.
