The downtime between missions where you just sit with your boys and your wife on the Aurora and chat and jam out is what made this game so memorable for me

How man... I probably spend more time in that train than actually "playing" the game.... I felt so happy in this train, I wasn't alone anymore, I had friends, a familly, a wife... damn... how much time did i spend looking at her, listening to the music and the sound of the train rumbling... how much time did i spend looking at my "familly" living their life innocently... Never felt more alive than when I was playing this game and when it eventually ended, it killed me to say goudby to to them. Goodby to the beautifull music. Goodby to the distant laughter. Goodby to the safety of the train... Goodby to Anna and her love... man that hurt me so much...

Exodus has been a wild experience that feels somehow very personal to me. While 2033 and Last Light have definitely got me hooked into the series, it was Exodus that finally click it. For me 2033 and Last Light have always feel like a generic shooter, but Exodus seem to have some sort of soul, charm on it own that deeply resonated with me. The immersion that was raised to a brand new level, the story moment, the character in the game have been extremely well written. If the past 2 games I couldn't even remember the name of a single character, this one however each one of them touched the bottom of my heart deeply. I'm really grateful for how the game knows to slow itself down quite a lot. Between the heated combat and lengthy stealth section, it's the moment where I met and struck a conversation, listened to what the character, npc been up to is where the game really shines the brightest. It's just so calm and soothing in a way that it put a smile on my face all the way until I jump back into the cruel of world of post apocalyptic Russia. The admiral seems like just another one of the crazy people that was the result of this never ending nightmare of a world. But the more I listened to him,the more I find despite all that, he is after all still just a human, and still have a soul of a human, heck even a child actually. My heart was shattered when he asked to stay with him, it's just such a pity how the world have just claimed yet another poor innocent and turn them into this, where they sort of lost themselves in a way but still clinging to their past being.

You have to love a world to save it. I know exactly how you feel, this is one of those games where taking it slow is the whole point of the experience. Think about it, if you don't slow down and listen to the situations and take the world in you get the bad endings, but if you hold still and find out what's going on you get the good ones. The game is amazing because it challenges the typical videogame trope where the people attacking you are the bad guys and there's no consequences for just run and gunning your way through. Killing the cultists gets one of your men killed, attacking slaves makes one leave your crew, and killing the forest people results in another getting injured. Hell the bad ending even mocks you in a way by putting you on a speeding train with no brakes, unable or unwilling to stop or slow to the benefit of its inhabitants. If you slow down you understand how human the people you're fighting are. The cultists are just scared, the slaves don't have a choice, and the forest people are just teenagers defending their land. But how would you learn this by blasting them? You can't, only by slowing down and taking the time to assess the situation do you learn that none of you are any worse than anyone else. The admiral is such a fantastic case of this because he's so easy to write off as crazy and nothing more, you could go on your merry way and forget him as he's just another loon, but if you sit down and take the time to listen you see the scared man left all alone. They say you only live as long as the last person to remember you but because Artyom sat and stayed with him for a while he was able to see the memory of who this poor soul was and just maybe that memory will live on just a while longer, even if that man died he didn't die alone in a way. Long reply I know, just wanted to get this out there.

I still can't decide which one I prefer, Last Light or Exodus. Exodus story is way superior, yes, but then again it forces the player into fights that are way too hard for my liking. All those heavy fights are insanely difficult on ranger hardcore. The only fight in Last Light that at least closely resembles this is the sniper fight with Pavel's squad, even the D6 fight isn't that difficult. And then there's the whole moral points, which basically judge the player based on his playstyle. Yes I'm not that good at stealth, so what? I'm not going to tryhard it just for a better ending. IMO moral points should be based on things you choose, not on things you can or cannot do. But yeah, apart from the terrifically hardcore gameplay I think I'll still remember Exodus for its atmosphere and story.

I really like these moments. Artyom went through sheer hell. Saw so much danger, death and tragedy his entire life. He probably questioned himself what are humans truly? They did all this to themselves and from the ruins of a beautiful world monsters came from everywhere, even from humans. And now Anna is dying and he is more afraid than ever. He sees a very potential enemy in the form of the Admiral but in my case i didn't shoot. I saw him as another victim of humanity's stupidity that eventually broke him. So i sit on the table, heard his story and start playing the guitar because both of us saw so much tragedy and instead of killing each other, we could lament over everything in this moment.

i gotta say, i cried with the two colonels ending, a tear of respect

I cried when i completed the game at badending because the last chapter of novosibirsk is really emotional...

I got the best possible ending for this game. Finished with all my boys intact. God damn if only I could experience this game for the first time again! I really just can't describe how immersive an experience Metro Exodus was. Artyom, my friend I hope you found your Eden out east.

Playing this song as the admiral tells you his story and asks you to stay made me a little sad for him, the loneliness then us leaving after when he falls asleep knowing when he wakes up he'll be alone again and probably think it was all a dream

Man, couldn't believe this is the best game i've ever had with great story, action etc.. still waiting for next series tho

Just played it for the first time ,this is not just youre run of the mill game ,sitting with anna in the train car stroking her back, just talking yeah this games makes you part of it if you whant it or not ,10/10

This music is so beautiful, it's been over 4 years since I've shed a tear for anything, and the best part is that they weren't tears of sadness.

When I first sat down with the Admiral, I knew in my heart that I was going to kill him. I sat, and listened, filled with hatred; he was part of the reason this peaceful valley, this garden of Eden, was full of strife. But then this guitar started playing and I was filled with empathy, understanding. This wasn't his fault, this wasn't the bandit's fault. It just was. I left him sleeping with his long dead friends, peacefully.

Mhmmm. This track is so excellent. Especially given the 2 opportunities you have to play it. Once while with stepan, and again for the admiral. Then it finally plays once again when millar dies and your rescued. It always causes the memories of those moments to come flooding back. My journey as Artyom as a whole. Very few games can make something that will stay with you for life. I can’t believe people hate this game.

@@awesomechainsaw yes, it kinda follows us through the entire game and gets really symbolic at the finale.. And why do you say people hate this game? In my memory I`ve heard/seen only positive words about it from both russian and english comunities - as for me this part is gotta be the best in the series for now. It has its weak sides of course(imo mostly about level design, animations and sometimes AI behaviour) but the experience of this journey, this atmosphere of the world, those characters.. it's just too incredible

IRora! They are in the minority. The most Major person that people know who disliked the game was Jim Sterling. But a simple search for Metro Exodus Bad or metro exodus terrible. Will dig up those videos. But the fact that they exist is so confusing.

Metro Exodus is such a beautifull game

I found myself thinking of this song and Metro's haunting soundtracks and emotional themes about war, violence, as well as compassion and mercy while watching this Ukraine-Russia war unfold. It's fitting the Metro series and its music are from Ukraine. My thoughts are with 4A and everyone in Ukraine in right now.

Funny enough the only game out of the series to actually follow the books was 2033, which followed the story of 2033, but last light and exodus veer off from the source material and they did a pretty ok job, I think exodus is amazing but kinda went off from the series core which is survival horror or shooter horror cause let's be honest in the metro missions involving the mutants it was pretty scary especially in 2033 trying to get the map for D6 I the library

it's almost certainly an acoustic steel strings guitar. certainly not 7 strings. the piece is in Am and is very beginner friendly.

Bad karma point. But to the story, I don't think it change anything : Nobody will think about evacuate him when the barrage will fall. He was a dead man when he got shot to his spine.

Just finished the game for the first time. Got the best ending too! I bought it at launch but never played. Marathoned the last 2 games last week. I'm upset that I didn't feel the depth of emotion I hear you guys in the comments felt. Closest I got was a brief moment of chills when Miller saluted me and told me to take command. I saluted back. Partially I got disconnected by the game play loop on hard-core. Sneak, get detected through a crack in the wall, die in 2 shots, reload game. then spend the next 2 hours following the metal detector so I could atleast break even on resources . The game kinda felt rushed too or atleast most of the budget went to the graphics (well spent, lighting could use work though) also sitting in front of everybody for 5 minutes each listening to them between missions gets tedious. I loved what they had to say but it broke my already frail immersion. Still, the train rides were definitely a highlight and comforting Anna and playing this song made me smile. I genuinely was worried about her. Anyway, I'm mad this isn't on spotify atleast in guitar form. Metro will always have a special place in my cold, desensitized heart. O7 Colonel Miller. If I had any Vodka left I'd pour one out. Good game. Oh, and the heavy units are such absolute bullshit.

Folks, i finished with artyom alive, duke dead even i did with the enemies only alerted bu i wasnt detected, damir he stayed in the crew and alyosha without being wounded, the thing is, if it really is true about the metro exodus sequel, you know the next metro, how they are going to do it? you have 3 finals, artyom alive, artyom alive but without much time of life cause you need duke damir and alyosha alive and without problems, and dead cause alyosha wounded, duke dead and damir stay with his people. im asking for help/information, if they are continuing with the new metro, we are going to play with anna or other else from the crew? i also completed the 2 dlc and they are perfect.

Believe it or not, the game itself really don't want you to get the bad ending, that's why the game always warning you and tell you not to hurt innocent people except bandit
